Death Angel is one of the best bands ever period. I like all of their songs, there isn't one i don't like, new or old. The first album I heard was The Art of dying so I'm a new skool fan, even though that was around 9 or 10 years ago now.

I remember back in 1990 that this was one of the only good videos those fuckers played on the so-called "Headbanger's Ball"... damn I was 12 or so at the time. That show was fucking horrible;sit through 3 hours of bands like Poison and Saigon Kick to finally hear a good song at almost 3 a.m. .. then this or Napalm Death's 'Suffer the Children' would finally come on. I don't miss those days, you guys that missed it weren't missing much, and Ricky Rachtman was such a little bitch..terrible host..

@Takaho31 - I agree but I don't think that ricky actually had that much choice in what to play. I think he being heavily into the LA scene helped him push the LA bands at the time, but overall the videos being played were what the record industry was pushing MTV to play, which the mainstream crap. I hated listening to Posion, Winger, and the like, but had to sit through it to get to the good stuff. I was so happy to get a VCR lol.

@macdaddynyc It never died off. It just went underground. Death Angel have released three albums since 2001. Most of the old thrash bands are still doing their thing and there are also a lot of great new ones!

@cvioletti I concur. I saw Death Angel with DRI in February. I got decked in the pit like a motherfucker too. 2 or 3 other bastards tripped over me lol. It was insane! Lazarus AD and Bonded By Blood were opening acts. There was so much Thrash that night. I still felt it a week later. Thrash Till Death!!!

Kreator's first album sounds more death metal then Atheist Unquestionable Presence to me (not saying it's better though).. Just a few examples that oldschool death and thrash, don't sound so different at all, and that's why alot of thrashers dig oldschool death metal. Just not the ultra brutal technical shit.
