I have watched the video several times and worked with the video, but, your thumb is over the top of the "foundation" and I can't see what you are doing. I am ready to give up. Please help.
Hmmmm been trying this a few times but the "top" or left side on my "chain" always seems to be smaller then the right side... Im doing it right .. maby tension? Im working with 4 strands of soft yarn...
I watched this vid and the hdc vid and in this one there seems to be an extra step. You wrap the yarn over the hook, pull it through, wrap the yarn over the hook and pull it through the 1st loop only. In a traditional hdc you would pull the yarn through all three loops. Is the extra step unique to a chainless foundation?
The foundation stitches are created vertically as opposed to a chain foundation that is created on the horizontal. Each time you add another stitch, you are securing it to the bottom-side of the previous stitch. You insert your hook below the two loops at the bottom of the previous stitch. These loops will be on the left if you are right handed and to the right if you are left handed. Pull the yarn through once, pull through a second time and then complete the full stitch you are working with.
OMG!!! Thank you Im a fan for life....I've heard of the chainless crochet and I've tried to do it and gave up frustrated, but your tutorial is excellent...and now I know how to do it....Thank you so much!!

@nhchicky You will try to loosen up on the left side. I have found that that same thing happens to me on occasion.

Hi! Is there something wrong with the video? It shows a counter of 0:00/0:00.

when doing it the second time , do you stick the hook en the same stitch where you did it the first time?

You are welcome. I use this stitch to replace the chain whenever I can. You don't get the holes that a chain leaves with the foundation.

As usual, your video is quite quite quite interesting. A thousand merci...

Hmmm... that's an interesting way to start a project. I'll have to mull over how to use this.

You use it instead of the chain. It is a foundation.
