Thank you very much for the performance. Today is Holy Tuesday and very appropriate. I will listen to it again on Good Friday. Also, I will pray for you all.
We are from Poland, Poznan (half way between Warsaw and Berlin). The music is written of course for 2 choirs (8 voices), we had to imitate it. At the moment we have 9 people singing in the ensamble. Today's concerto will be recorded. I hope to add some beeter quality recording soon.
These 'Improperia' are the expression of a complete desolation and abandonment, the complaint of a son who feels that he's been abandonned even by his father who for him was his god, the strong, the holy, the unviolable and immortal. Seldom this feelings have been put into words more touching than in these lamentations, and seldom this words have been put in music with such deep empathy as Palestrina did. Even seldom this music has been performed in such a wrinkled performance as this one.
That's quite incorrect. It's that of a God disowned by the people whom He has done so much for. The Improperia are addressed to the Jews, not to the 'abandoning Father'.

Together with Allegri's "Miserere" one of the most impressive samples of religious polyphony. This is prayer, even for who's agnostic or atheistic. Alas, an anonymous performance, but she's of great quality! Thank you singers for this performance, Thanks bogienka, for posing this on YouTube!

Kontratenor się wybija, ale to chyba przez rezonans w sprzęcie nagrywającym, prawda?

Thank you. I'd imagine heaven sounds like this. This video is better than most of the CDs I've found on on internet for this recording.

Beautiful. Who are the singers? What country are they from? Was the music written for just 6 voices? I've heard these before sung by a larger choir.
