I had a Mazda B2000 it was a 1983 the engine is different on your truck but it had the glass carb too the dash is different but it's the same truck is that a 2.3 engine the Mazda I had it had the 2.0 - 75 maybe 80 HP but it would bark second gear rubber but the engine was rebuild it was My first truck I drive it to high school better than taking the school bus relax in it with the AC on driving after a 8 hour school day fun first truck it was still new when I started driving.
@mrbobtyler I'm familiar with those, they seem to be more common. Timing chain instead of a belt like mine, right? I helped a friend rebuild his back in high school. Good times.
Ive got an ol 82 that me and my dad had rebuilt. It had sat in a field for 4 years. Took us 2 years to rebuild. I have to say its the most fun thing to drive, Gotta love those Couriers <3
Cool video*lol* I just bought a 1979 Ford Courier with 50K original miles . Kind of sad to see yours all rusted out. For the Ford haters, Couriers actualy were made in japan by Mazda(Toyo Kogyo)
This Courier had a hard farm life since day one. It was bought as a cheap truck to go get seed and fertilizer chemicals for planting. Anyone that knows about fertilizers knows what it does for metal..
at 4:17 i just noticed about your ford, your clutch is a hydralic type, instead of a cable type, it's located at the upper right of the video, and could be out of brake fluid, my old 74 toyota truck did the same thing, it has a slow leak around the seal, and your's probably did the same thing, just add brake fluid in the clutch and pump it a few times and it will work again, then again, long live the ford courior
very observant! but I wish it were that simple. Whatever is wrong is in the bell housing, as I can see the lever moving attached to the hydrolic cylinder on the transmission. I have had to replace that before due to leaks.
nope, been there done that years ago. The slave cylinder will move the arm that goes into the transmission.. and very easily, so the throwout bearing?? or pressure plate perhaps??
essentially this a maxda with a ford engine. i had an 1980 i had to replace the clutch, alternator and starter and all 3 of them were the exact same as a mazda. But would you be interested in selling it?
My story is very similar to yours with an old Jeep Wagoneer I used to have. It was a reliable winter beater for many years until rising fuel costs forced me to buy a compact truck. The Jeep sat for longer periods of time and it was getting harder to start until keeping it was no longer practical. Good vehicle though, I miss it.
Couriers are cool trucks one of my favorites!
have you done any work to it scene then?

It's the slave cylinder attached to the clutch arm. Betcha the seals are gone and leaked out.

How come the buzzer in the Ford Courier sounded nothing like the scary buzzer in the big Ford F-Series and Econoline vans at the time?
Jac2Mac 3 years ago
probably because the body of this truck was more Mazda than Ford

True that lol

Why would you buy an English Ford?
Dabquibij 3 years ago
the price was right back in '83. This truck served us well for 20 years with only minimal maintenance.
jrcstudios 3 years ago
That truck is a Mazda. Back then, Toyo Kogyo. Japanese, not English
chevy0500 3 years ago
The Courier was actually a twin of the Mazda B-Series at that time.
landyachtfan79 3 years ago
Why don't you just fix the clutch? It's not that hard. By the way, like the bed in that! lol.

Old truck imported from England, eh!
