YES DEFINITELY IN THE TOP 100 EASILY !!! LOVE THIS BAND 30 YEARS LATER; I REALLY DO ; ONE GIRLY THAT WAS STAYING WITH ME IN '86 THOUGHT IT WAS A NEW BAND! COULD NOT GET IT OUT OF THE 'WALKMEN' SO I JUST GAVE IT TO HER...KNOWING I WOULD REPLACE IT BECAUSE I LOVE THIS ORIGINAL BAND. PEACE.
I was in Japan when this band "Hit" holy crap...you could not go to a club that did not play them non-stop. insane kids just goofin on this stuff...Japan @ 18 and then the P.I. what a time in the early 80's..lots of fun...
You're right about how it hit the scene in 1979 or so. I remember buying their self-produced 45 and dancing to it at the first rock 'n' roll dance club in New York, Hurrah. People went crazy on the dance floor. Before that it was just Max's and CBGBs, and everywhere else you looked, disco.

Mostest incredibilist concert evah at Landsdown St, Boston 1979. General admission. Got there hours early. Pushed our way to the front. Place was ALIVE!! Any other geezers out there go? We were the ones with the Hawaiian cheeba. Your welcome.
This song is exhilarating and a little frightening ("God, give me his soul" sounds almost vampiric in its cold-blooded lust). It's more serious than the usual B-52 norm at that time, and maybe that (and Ricky Wilson's junkshop rusty guitar sound) are what gives it such power. It never had as much radio play compared to the other songs on the album, but it's equally as valid and important as those other songs.

One of the best songs ever recorded. Check out the extended instrumental ending AFTER the climactic vocals. One of the best rock moments ever.

Epic first album. Was stationed in Guam in the early 80s, this album got me through some hard times at work. Danced the night away.
