The monster in the first Cloverfield was actually just a baby...This was confirmed by the director of the movie and he had also mentioned a sequal...but never really seemed to of done anything with it yet...but he did say that it would include the parents and it was thought that 'Super 8' was going to be the second Cloverfield...however I have no clue what he is going to do now.

The satelite crashed into the ocean from some systen failiures and other random events. It crashes into the ocean were it awoke the monster who had been sleeping for centuries. Then after being awoken it rises to the surface and swins in curiosity, where it then finds an oil rig and accidently destroys it, then finds it was to new york and thus the movie begins
That big machine in the first picture is a Tagruato drill machine that is searching for an ingredient for a drink in Japan. It is only found in the deep sea and Tagruato is what Rob is going to work for in Japan. Tagruato owns Slusho the drink, you can see Rob's older brother with a t shirt of it. The drilling woke the monster.

The monster in the first Cloverfield was actually just a baby...This was confirmed by the director of the movie and he had also mentioned a sequal...but never really seemed to of done anything with it yet...but he did say that it would include the parents and it was thought that 'Super 8' was going to be the second Cloverfield...however I have no clue what he is going to do now.

I have seen all the clover field sites and I think that what really happened is quite stupid. Apparently, a company called slush has an ingredient in it that can make you grow and explode. It is on the slusho site. Check it out. Anyway, some creature ate some of this stuff and grew to huge proportions. @dtriuswilliams I agree, the rumors were going around that it was a satellite that fell from space. The pictures at the bottom of the ocean trench I think were the last images the satellite took before it completely went offline.
And if you look closely, the monster seems to be looking straight down at the satellite. But I still don't know what the hell those lites were on that thing. But hopefully J.J. Abrams will stop dickin' around and get his ass in gear for Cloverland. =D

Here's what I think:
The satelite crashed into the ocean from some systen failiures and other random events. It crashes into the ocean were it awoke the monster who had been sleeping for centuries. Then after being awoken it rises to the surface and swins in curiosity, where it then finds an oil rig and accidently destroys it, then finds it was to new york and thus the movie begins

That big machine in the first picture is a Tagruato drill machine that is searching for an ingredient for a drink in Japan. It is only found in the deep sea and Tagruato is what Rob is going to work for in Japan. Tagruato owns Slusho the drink, you can see Rob's older brother with a t shirt of it. The drilling woke the monster.

Well, honestly, it has to have something to do with the parents.
So, maybe... this is just a wild guess but... maybe the parents landed, and thats what the clover parasites are from. If this cloverfield doesn't have the parents in it, that must mean there's going to be a cloverfield 3.

@MercThe1ndOnly Wrong, actually the object that falls out of the sky is the ChimpazlIII Sattelite, it was Tagrauto's, who found Slusho's secret ingredient Seabed's Nectar, which is what the Parasites are digging for, and The Chuai Station was built overtop of Clover to prevent him from waking, but when the Tagrauto Started to dig for Seabed Nectar, it awoke Clover and he destroyed the staion, and then made a beeline for Manhatten, and then the movie goes from there

That's why the slushee company Tagruato would go down to cold parts of the sea and use algae extract for their drink. They were probably scraping off of the surface of the egg. The writers have said that the meteorite that hit the sea in the clip was the Japanese satalite that woke the monster far under the sea to consciousness, and that it was only a baby as it came up, in did not aim to kill and eat my as you can tell it does more of a call than roars and the writers have also said this.
