  • its not supposed to play like gears!!!!!!!!!!! so stop comparing it to gears!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i do believe with this review, although the excuse for no cover system is "your a space marine you don't need one", i believe thats to cover up the excuse of laziness. If you guys remember they displayed early prototype footage of this game there was so much more. this game could've been ALOT better if those dicks over at relic put another year of development into it.

  • I got this for $23, it's good but I think I overpaid, and the multiplayer here is just like lost planet

  • @capucchan8 really? I was about to buy this for 30 but now I am only paying 20 bucks for it because I dont really see much going on for this game. Looks like a kiddy game but with blood...

  • @1AngelSolo man I bought it for 23, and two weeks later it was 13 on a different site I was pissed

  • @1AngelSolo oh man it's on sale again for 12.50 again

  • go suck gears of wars dick already

  • Ok, comparing it to Gears.... The "SPEHSS MAHREENS" Would slaughter your freakin' cogs or whatever.... I am a chaos cultist, personally (though my username is very green) and the Chaos gits would kill the cogs and then make a delicious pie out of them. Next: "Surprisingly" deep customization... Um, yeah, it came as no surprise, there's a lot of variation in the miniatures I've seen, and among the ones I've helped my friend put together (poncy eldar) /endnerdrage

  • I agree, I loved it as a 40k fan but i am sure that the non 40k fans won't get any of the hints or references in the game and just be left going WTF?

  • this game is awesome, hope for more to come, i think it should have had 4 out of 5 not 3.... they dont need cover they are cover i agree on some things he said but not all really good solid game

  • @squizzay I concure. W.T.F

  • Why the fuck d othey compair this to Gears so much? It's not Gears, it never will be, and it wasn't supposed to be! Plus, you obviously don't do any homework on your games. Warhammer and Warhammer 40K were never RTS strategy games to begin with! They were tabletop games long before the world knew what an xbox was! You've let me down way too many times Xplay. Fuck you.

  • @squizzay Think he said it started off as a strategy game, which table top very much is. And videogame wise, RTS is what often went big for 40K other than the old Space Hulk games. It sure didn't ring real true with Fire Warrior. I'm a big fan of 40K and enjoy the game quite a bit. But as often I find Adam's review and its pointed out situations in accordance to large community expectations to be pretty accurate and fair.

I will say he could have gone into the deeper aspects of the perks system

  • @Bangcat That's true, but he never really said anything about the tabletop origins. I don't know, could just be me here, but Xplay just seems to annoy me now. The main game reviewing show I watch isGood Game (it's on aussi tv so don't worry if you can't find it) and I thought their review of it was really fair as they were coming in open minded and made various links to the tabletop version. They weren't huge 40k fans but they gave 7 and 7.5/10. I just think that's more of a fair review than a 3

  • Never heard of it. Game for scrubs

  • @SOSOLRAK Yeah in the 80's no one heard of anime either, then it took the market by storm and is the number one in hand drawn animation styles. Just because you never heard of it, doesn't mean it's not worth anything. If you only chase down the uber popular things in life, you're going to have a very slanted vision on life and miss out on allot.

Try not to be just another sheep. Such declarations like 'Never heard of it. Game for scrubs' tends to lean you toward being very narrow minded.

  • @Bangcat dont give me a lecture about life over youtube. im not "narrow minded" scrub

  • THis is not gears why keep mentioning gears? This is its own game just because I is a hack/slash action game dose not mean it they should all play like gears.

  • oi fucktard. this is not gears. you say gears one more time. and ill fuck your mothjer. and rip out your fucking jacobs. fucking american.s

  • If they didn't want it to be like gears then they shouldn't have made it like gears.

It's gears with an average at best melée system and no cover.

Warhammer 40k lore in general got old a while ago

  • Omg this game is so BROKEN!! Multiplayer in particular. I am experiencing constant crashing and glitching and not to mention host migration.. And the scoreboard isnt even right sometimes!! SO MESSED UP

  • Get off gears of wars nuts and let warhammer be warhammer!!!!

  • should i buy this warhammer 40k or resistance 3

  • @darkkemuk resistance 3 man thats what i say

  • part shooter, part beat em up, all awesome. This game's fun i played a demo

  • lol

  • 3 out of 5!!!

  • these videos never play for me so i always click the link and watch them from the site -_-

  • dude this game shits on Gears of war

  • gears is better than this shizznat (shit)

  • @shoot232 Go die in a hole 5 year old

  • @shoot232 Gears wouldnt exist if not for Warhammer.

  • fuck you xplay this isn't gears of war this game isn't ment to be so fuck you

  • hey.

    xplay's right.

    you're not.

    end of story.

  • I honestly agree with a lot of what was said, but it really isn't fair to compare it to Gears of War; as many of the comments you have read or are about to read state, they are two entirely different games and universes. And from watching all the Developers Diaries, it makes sense why cover wasn't a part of the game. Was this lack of cover, which forces you to be more aggressive intended? Who knows, but that's how a space marine should be; unafraid to jump into the fray.

    I give it a 4/5.

  • seriously shut the fuck up about gears.....

  • ahhhhh i remember the days when multiplayer wasn't needed to make a great game!

  • For a game that's CLEARLY an experiment in whether a franchise like this could continue, it costs WAY too much. They could have REALLY brought in more people if they sold it for less then the going rate of new console games. It's really only WORTH about $30... but that's just me.

  • get it when price goes down

  • I say 4 out of 5. Its a great game to kill

  • i just love it when x-play reviews a game, and ends up talking about another game(sarcasm) that would be like me being on a date and talking my ex instead of focusing on whats in front of me.....i guess what im trying to say is FUCK YOU X-PLAY tbh the old x-play was waaaay better

  • @tripdefect87 not at all. And not once i say single player games are bland boring or unplayable. All i said was that multiplayer adds to the experience. But no, i would not pay $60 for a mario or sonic game. But if you would then be my guest. If im going to pay that much for a game its going to have to entertain me for a long time. Which is what multiplayer usually does.

  • 3/5 sounds reasonable to me, so I don't get what the rest of you are complaining about

  • every review they do they compare to other games and its fucking annoying.. srry xplay but you can suck a fat one

  • I loved the game, but its a good review the reason being is a 3 to x play is a game that is good, solid but not for everyone. and this game falls into that category i personally would give it a 5/5 just because I love warhammer 40k and find the game to be amazing

  • captain tight ass

  • i don't really see anything worn with this review... seemed fair to me

  • Terrible review..ElderGeek did a much better job.

  • your reviewing 40k . not gears >_> hate it when reviewers always mention other games in they're reviews

  • @9911MU51C What do you mean? You don't play games in a cultural vacuum. Whenever you play a game, you, in your head, you compare it to other games you've played and that largely determines how good you think it is. For instance, many gamers now try to go back to play old games and realize that they're poor compared to modern ones. Comparison, whether you mention the name of the game or not, is a large part of reviewing.

  • @9911MU51C They reviewd GoW3 6 days ago...

  • @9911MU51C They reviewed GoW3 6 days ago...

  • @SephCat74 not just this im mainly talking about how reviewers compare every game to CoD and now gears, whats next? rating pac man 2/5 because theres no perks or killstreaks ?

  • @9911MU51C Maybe it's because this seems like a Halo'd up version of Gears of War? That's what happens when you make your game look like another. Hence why original games get the gold, and others get this. Castle Crashers, Gears, Halo, Ratchet and Clank, God of War, Little Big Planet, etc.

  • @xRyukagex2010 scratch that. The only Halo portion is the fact that their space marines. However, this DOES seem like a Gears of War type game, just with Hack and Slash. Character design seems oddly similar and so on. It might not be gears, but they really should have done something different.

  • @xRyukagex2010 Yeah but super thick warriors tromping in with huge guns is what Space Marines in 40K have been for over two decades. It's easier to say, what gets compared to it is simply things more well known in the community. Better to be compared to something pretty good than crap at least. In reality through, StarCraft, Gears, even Fallout all have something that pays homage to the 40K universe. And you just might find it quite staggering how true that is if you truly put in the research.

  • @Bangcat that may be true but i think it was more along the lines of space marines 40K being more similar to gameplay somewhat, that and Gears having made the big super thick warriors more popular and well known, now that the franchise has hit the $1 billion dollar exclusive mark. TBH i didn't like space marines as i found it boring and broken, but that's all up to you guys. i was merely stating that in this scenario, they'll compare it to whatever made the look better first, not first period

  • @9911MU51C Yeah but it was done with reason. Many people have been going on about how this game is a knock off of gears. When in fact story and character feel wise, it truly is the other way around. Kinda like how there were those going on about Dawn of War was like Star Craft. Derp, StarCraft was actually started on the ideal of being a 40K game then Games Workshop told them no.

  • @Bangcat ikr reviewers just cant review 1 game at a time

  • @9911MU51C its called comparison

  • @9911MU51C unless its an originality issue, then its understandible.

  • @9911MU51C and @shmorider I think he mentioned that to stop any morons who say that Space Marine is a Gears of War rip off from saying "This is a Gears of War rip off".

  • "Like Gears?" Adam Gears of War owes in entire existence to the 40K franchise.

  • @ultrajd True but how the game plays is totally different

  • @higoshimaru Also true. But there are noticable similarities in Gears from the 40K franchise.

  • @ultrajd And by that I mean that this game plays like an action game.

  • @ultrajd Doesn't mean that it can't have similar gameplay

  • I'm sure they put WAY more thought into the multiplayer than they did the actual gameplay

WHY DOES EVERY SINGLE FUCKING GAME HAVE TO HAVE MULTIPLAYER?!

  • @tripdefect87 so publishers can charge you if you buy the game second hand.

  • @xenojobeia can you explain how they can charge you if you buy it second hand please?

  • @johnnymwalker1 Some games have a one time code that lets you have access to the multi player if someone buys a game new they use the code and play online. if they then trade the game in and you buy it you have to buy a new code from the publisher to get access to the online.I dunno if they do it in this game but all EA games have this policy and i think Ubisoft are implementing it too so eventually everyone will do it.

  • @tripdefect87 Because it adds to the experience and makes the game entertaining for a longer period of time. so if a game doesnt have it, then it may not remain entertaining for nearly as long as a game with it. i personally dont think any game that doesnt have multiplayer is worth full price.

  • Comment removed

  • @johnnymwalker1 Oh so because Mario and Sonic The Hedgehog series don't have Multiplayer, that instantly makes them bad, bland and unplayable?

  • @tripdefect87 Agreed. There's some games which still stay true to campaigning and telling a story though - like the Arkham Asylum/ City series.

  • @tripdefect87 because its not 1995 and multiplayer is the new norm of fun. besides only recently where game stories not completely laughable

  • @tripdefect87 and then you realized multiplayer consisted of 20 seconds of the 2 minute review. just because they talked about it doesn't mean they focused on it. please get educated before you post again

  • @tripdefect87 because its more of a add-on to give people to do once the beat the single player

  • @tripdefect87 i agree, what happened to a good single player experience? if they would put that effort into the SP instead of tacking on a half assed(or in some cases better than single player) multi, maybe the games wouldnt have such probs... im tired of tacked on multi, FUCKING STOP IT, gah imagine some other great classic games with tacked on multi...? they would suck

  • @tripdefect87 not elder scrolls haha

  • @tripdefect87 it's more fun to play games with people you know.

  • @tripdefect87 Why does every have muti player? Erm, they don't. And in cases like this, because it makes the game last a whole lot longer than just a romp through a story. People want to have fun and it's often easier to do with friends. Don't agree with the thought no matter how many thumbs up you have, but all may have their own opinions.

However, especially us 40K fans, we want to slam into the mix with others, and want our long wait to be worth it and last us a while. Behold the logic.

  • @tripdefect87 lol cuz if they have a good multiplayer more ppl would wont to buy it rather than TORRENTING IT FOR FREE oh wait unless u use console HAHA

  • i love this game

  • This game isnt that good at all. I played the demo on xbox live and it was ass....

  • @JazzyJames019 I agree this game "as a game" isn't really good, but I'm a Warhammer 40K fan and as far as thats concerned its pretty kickass to play as an individual space marine.

  • warhammer is gay nuff' said
