It's like he sets up his kit to best suit his style and maneuverability instead of just setting it up to look cool for the audience (which there is nothing wrong with that)
I've been trying to pick apart this song for months... I got the bass down. That's about it... 0:47 - 1:12 ... I say... its impossible! 2:16 - 2:28 ... I give up. 2:32 - 2:48 ... I've got the snare and bass only. Sigh... this song has been by far the most mechanically complicated thing I've ever even fathomed on drums.
you sir, are a machine.. and i mean that in the best way possible (: haha that triplet pattern on the pedal at 2:07 - 2:11 is the BALLS. i know i'm not the only one, but your work amazes me without fail, everytime.
@jaydoode15 yeah, you're missing the point, and getting belligerent for no reason. completely unprovoked, with no argument already in place, you brought up something that was completely irrelevant to the video, and may have been hurtful to some, i.e you trolled. Travis wouldn't care about it in all likeliness since he knows he's a fucking beast, but obviously you're unable to express your opinions with any sense of etiquette. People don't make videos to be negatively compared to others....
@jaydoode15 let me put this in simpler terms, u can haz ur opinion nd say wht u want, just dnt be a douche nd troll. Especially when your opinion just doesn't matter
@leekwesi I can troll as I please, and maybe you do not value my opinion but maybe others do. Let me put this in "simpler" terms, I can say what I want, when I want, however I want to. I believe in freedom of speech. And so I say, go gargle on hot salty siemen!
Travis. Your playing has a ridiculous amount of groove in it. I've seen most of your videos but theres some fills on this video that are really, really good. Amazing job.
I would love to see you part from the Periphery's "light" that you did! so much better than matt halperns. Even if you just have to transcription that would be awesome and i'd love to see it if you would like to give me a link :)
So I assume that at about 2:04 you were switching your metronome to triplet mode for that brief foot-run? Man, I need that metronome b/c it makes those changes quick & easy, plus the inputs... It's an expensive one, though. Oh well - need it & juan it!!
@bseff1 Can you PLEASE tell me what the metronome he uses and the capabilities of it? The things he uses I didn't know even existed. Like it doesn't surprise I just didn't know they exist. I would LOVE to at the least figure out what he uses, maybe even get one for myself.

I'm a drummer too, and I got tired of all the same old way of playing drums on the metal genre, but the way you play and set your drums is really awsome, different from all the drummers that I had seen.
@vipfal i realize that but i am a "metal drummer" and totally into this style over the straight 4/4 speed of traditional metal and i was wondered that styles Travis incorporates so i could train my brain to think like he does rhythmically
Wow... the more i watch orbin's video, the more i love him...
Such a precision in everything he plays... the groove at about 0:55 is fuckin' hard to figure out... all the ghost notes/soft rolls/double bass he adds to his very original grooves are mind blowing... He even try to move something at 2:13 and still plays flames on double bass like i'll never do...
