There's only a few track's I never switch off early..this is one of them. If you like this check out the JimmiCooper Channel version of Going Underground on Youtube....remixed for 2012 for 30th anniversary of The Jam split....it's now listed a top video on Twitter.
Your right mate this song is an anthem but you and i know u had to come from that time to appreciate these guys, in my opinion music these days i just a load of fucking bollox!
@0zzy0100 Glad to see the younger generation appreciate good music, Ive bought Shaun a guitar for christmas, so i will video him singing this and upload it, He is singing Green Day American Idiot on here take a look, thats another one of his favourite songs.
I saw The Jam in "78 at the Old Waldorf in Frisco. They were awesome for a 3 piece. They were certainly better than the Pistols live. The Hot Rods were really good live also
First heard this in 1984 or 1985 when I was about 5 years old. My Dad used to collect the tokens on the sachets of Angel Delight (an after-dinner desert thingy) who were running a promotion where you could send away for a free mix tape of chart tunes.
I remember skipping the theme tune from the TV show FAME to get to this. Got the Compact Snap album years later and still love them today.
This video marks some interesting Jam moments..the longest Weller's hair ever was, the last time Buckler wore a suit and the last time you saw Foxton with a Rickenbacker.
This when the jam started togo straight to no1 was 3 or 4 in a row right in at number 1 when you had to sell a half million 45s now you get into the top ten if you sell 30,000. bought this the day it came out and weller just looks so cool in this video! BIG JAM FAN! MOD TO THE CORE, TILL I DIE.POW!
@MultiMagoon I think you dont get the style council - it the mid 80's punk and mods had passed, Paul was such a visionary he saw the break up of the soviet union check out "walls come tumbling down "
unfortunately I'm 18, and was too young to see them live, but however in just over a months time i should be seeing The Jamm, supposed to be their best tribute band. I know it will be nothing like they were, but hopefully ill get a small insight into what these legends where like live.
@JaspyyStarcraft No m8 no diss but im 47 and was lucky to the Jam twice the buzz till old dad Weller came to the stage and said now for the fuckin greatest band in the world THE JAM! BUT GO SEE FROM THE JAM you will still get a buzz from Wellers songs no doubt well played but you did really have to have seen them at the top of they're game. great music great clothes and so just so cool.we could pray to the gods of music they tour one more time but dont see it happening weller says no
@beefmanbud You don't know what they're saying, but you come from the country that gave us Jay Z and all those other idiots I don't even want to name.
Damn, I was born in 92, I wish I was born in the late 60s like my mum and dad were, then I'd have gotten the chance to be a teenager in the 80s :( I love the 80s! The fashion and the music is just better than today's!!!!! Especially the mods and new romantics :)
songs like this make todays musicians like rihanna or lady gaga seem like karaoke. i mean there are still great bands today like kasabian but nothing really compares to bands like the jam, the who or the specials.
@HelloShabba, good for you girlie, my little boy is 4 and this is one his favourite songs, i put a video on here of him singing green day lol, but you cant beat weller, seen him loads, and he always sings Jam numbers in his concerts, I dont think your weird for liking this music, i think your cool :)
Hello, I'm Ellie, a thirteen year old girl and I just found this song. I really really love it. I'm proof that there's a small handful of people that like to stick to the old good music instead of the overedited crap in the hits. People Think I'm weird for liking this music but to be honest I feel like I'm the only one who actually makes sense. Thanks :D
you and 100 million others !! nothings changed at all.... ur not wierd or special... think of the pop mainstream shit that was around in the 70's 80's... there was just as much as we have today.... this music was for the minority in those days and still is today.... and yip... always will be!
First single to enter the UK charts at no 1 since Slade's Merry Xmas Everybody in 1973. I just wish Weller didn't pronounce "nuclear" the same way as Dubbyer.
HOW has this song received ANY dislikes? Do those people not like goodness? Were they wearing ear muffs and therefore the beat of this song did not infect their brain and cause them to burst out in spontanious dancing? Did a moment of BLINDNESS overcome them and they accidently pushed dislike instead of like?
Okay, perhaps I'm overstretching this a bit.
Anyways, was anyone else lead here by Ben Yahtzee's game review? I only ask because it seems unlikely. But I am happy he did lead me here.
