John: A key issue is when the cap discharges is how much of that energy is burnt off in the spark gap tube vs. how much energy is pulsed into the battery. I understand this is just a pure experiment. However, it's likely that the majority of the energy get's burned off in the tube. I am assuming that the effective resistance of the tube when conducting is much higher than the effective resistance of the battery when being pulsed.
Thanks, it's like a strobe light in my lab LOL. Sorry the video doesn't show it well at all. The magnets were for a window motor I was building but I shattered one of them attaching them to the rotor. Yes, the "magnetic" pulse going through that wire is very interesting. It proves a lot of theories I have read about.
