@AeroSport103 Great question. Mostly because the compression test and cylinder leak down test was good enough to go with just the top end buying some more time to work on other visual aspects of the car. Later this year I plan on pulling the engine and rebuilding or replacing the short block, working the heads and going with a Retro Roller cam set up. Just boiled down to what had to be done and what could be done later.
one of my favs, question about the rear clip (bumper)...is it stock or is it from a later year corvette, most stingrays i have seen have no wing. I definitely like the stingray the way yours is.
@aero3030 it's a fiberglass reproduction of the 1980-1982 corvettes a previous owner had already installed. I do agree with you, it looks much better than no spoiler. Thanks!
@burnoutking1971 Centerline Wheels Champ 506. 18" x 8" with a 4" backspace. Tires are Nexen 255/45ZR18. everything clears perfect. Factory rally wheels have a 3 5/8" rear spacing so 4-4 1/2" usually works without any problem. 5" or more and you'll have to relocate the emergency brake cable mount or use offset trailing arms.
I was looking for more handling than wider rear for traction plus just a clean look.
@burnoutking1971 Thanks and yes the hood is the high rise cowl from Ecklers. Pretty good fit but the mold that is used makes the front center of the hood lower than the body, it's not terrible and could be built up with some filler.
@carissawabo Thanks for getting back to me. I have been looking to talk to someone who bought the Ecklers hood. Did you use filler to build your hood up? It looks really nice and straight. Is the added hood room worth it? I hope my Vet looks at nice when its finished. I have a 76 Stingray, all stock L-48 Im planning a 383 with alm heads, I allread installed the Ecklers street and track suspension kit and bought a hydraboost. The suspension kit is well worth the grand it costs.
@burnoutking1971 no I didn't fill it, I wish we would have but the amount of time and other costs kept me from doing it. Luckily it's easy enough to do in the future and I may do so. The extra clearance was well worth it to me plus there is an opening on the back side to help vent warm air out. It is straight and took a few extra shims in my case but that will vary from one car to another. All in all I would recommend it for sure.
Yours sounds really good too, cant go wrong with a 383.
I've been meaning to join and finally put a check in the mail yesterday. It was another club member I saw on the corvette forum last year with a '73 blue convertible a few miles away that told me about Mark. Was hoping to have the car ready by Corvettes on Clematis but we were just spectators which was cool, good turn out. Anyway, meet you at the next meeting.
@Q1KLT1 Thanks, he never mentioned anything and he knew I was taking photos and I did a few videos of the spraying. I worked with him for close to 3 weeks so I guess he didn't mind after that much time working together. Are you in the local corvette club?

It's more than obvious you dumped a ton of time and money into your car! Why did you top end only the engine?

I'm surprised Mark let you watch him paint... he's real fussy about that!

Yes, Mark and I are in the Corvette Club of the Palm Beaches. You should check us out, it'll be great! Can't wait to see your car in person.
