What I loved about this series was that I didn't get half of it until I got older. I remember seeing one when I was a kid where they were trying to steal a canary (don't ask me why). Abbott kept saying, "Gimme the bird! Gimme the bird!"

Finally, Costello turned to the audience and said, "If this wasn't a family picture, I'D give him the bird!"

I NEVER see anything about looney tunes, just tom and jerry is about the closest coherent thing. i've looked at cartoon network * which in rankin county ms changed to DIGITAL PREFERRED channel package only..F U CONcast * used to be chnl 50 full basic cable*, could you possible tell me the tv network station name you see it on? regardless of time of day. i can't find it.

@chronofusion Wait a minute, so your channel package DOES NOT carry Cartoon Network? If that's so, I'm really sorry to hear, because that's the channel you will find Looney Tunes on. Type in 'Cartoon Network Schedule' on google and click on the first link, you'll see for yourself. Tom and Jerry is also part of the regular lineup. Again I'm really sorry, I thought you'd have the channel, I guess whoever made this decision for this change in channel packaging must be some real jerk.

The animators really wanted to put a lot more strong language into these shorts, and in fact there are several cartoons that had characters using pretty harsh profanity, but the edited and final versions only showed their lips moving. The animators did this knowing the profane words would not go through, so that more mild curse words like jackass could be used without being nixed.

Yeah they're among my favorites. One of my favorite of their films is "Who Done It?", a comedy mystery. It's really cool because Costello ends up being the hero! There are also a LOT of gags, like Costello thinking the conversations on records are real. It's really funny because he gets insulted by the "Do you have halitosis?" commercial one and talks back with "What was that about halitosis?", and the record actuall responds with "Well what are you going to do about it?". XD

I don't know why some people think jackass is so bad when it means donkey, or a stupid person. It's really no worse than calling someone a jerk, idiot, fool, retard, loser, etc. They're not nice words, but it's not the same as swearing. When this cartoon was made, it was rare for any motion picture to even use mild curse words like damn, crap, or hell. So if jackass is such a bad word, that would have been censored as well, but it wasn't.

My personal favorite is "Who Done It?", a great comedy mystery. Not only is Costello the hero, but they also slip in a couple of references to their famous routine "Who's On First?"! The first one is when Abbot and Costello do a sequel where Abbot is trying to tell Costello about watts and volts and a frustrated Costello replies "Next you're going to tell me 'what's on second base'!" The second one is when Costello turns on a radio only to hear their routine and he doesn't recognize himself!
