What I loved about this series was that I didn't get half of it until I got older. I remember seeing one when I was a kid where they were trying to steal a canary (don't ask me why). Abbott kept saying, "Gimme the bird! Gimme the bird!"
Finally, Costello turned to the audience and said, "If this wasn't a family picture, I'D give him the bird!"
@bypassthelaw he used to yell...HEY ABBBOTTTTTT.....when he was scared or running away from something.... they made many really good movies for their time....Buck Privates....Buck Privates come home....and a few with Bela Legosi and Lon Chaney.....comedy spoofs of old horror movies....with the guys that really played Dracula and wolfman
Yeah, although it sounds better in the Tale Of Two Kitties cartoons IMO (the 2 are cats instead of mice (note the clever title change) and try to catch a bird with no name (though some called it Orson) and who was to become Tweety)
GOD I LOVE THIS DUO...BUBEEEEET...!! LOL LOUD MOUTH MORONS! THIS is cartoon comedy dammit...screw today's shit..BRING BACK LOONY TOONS WARNER BROS. COME BACK FROM THE " SELL OUT" BS...TO YOUR ROOTS!!!
@classicsguy626 one what station? because no matter how far in the future I look on my comcast onscreen program guide. I NEVER see anything about looney tunes, just tom and jerry is about the closest coherent thing. i've looked at cartoon network * which in rankin county ms changed to DIGITAL PREFERRED channel package only..F U CONcast * used to be chnl 50 full basic cable*, could you possible tell me the tv network station name you see it on? regardless of time of day. i can't find it.
@chronofusion Wait a minute, so your channel package DOES NOT carry Cartoon Network? If that's so, I'm really sorry to hear, because that's the channel you will find Looney Tunes on. Type in 'Cartoon Network Schedule' on google and click on the first link, you'll see for yourself. Tom and Jerry is also part of the regular lineup. Again I'm really sorry, I thought you'd have the channel, I guess whoever made this decision for this change in channel packaging must be some real jerk.
@classicsguy626 na I HAVE digital preferred. just not in my room. *only can afford one setop box) and yeah...it's a bullshit marketing decision between CONcast and Warner Bros. and THANK YOU MUCH for the info. Seriously I dont give a jack damn how old i get. Loony Tunes has a special place for me. it's clever random comedy that today's bullshit can't DREAM to match not to mention music that matches the cartoons. cheers.
@chronofusion They are great characters... if you long for more then check out Abbott and Costello movies (the actors on which they are based). Highly recommend "Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein"... or any of them actually!
@joezetank -- Not necessarily. Sylvester's first appearance was in "Life With Feathers", which debuted on March 24, 1945. "A Tale of Two Mice" first debuted four months later June 30th, 1945.

@CaptainCretaceous91 It was somewhat of a borderline word back in this era too. The animators really wanted to put a lot more strong language into these shorts, and in fact there are several cartoons that had characters using pretty harsh profanity, but the edited and final versions only showed their lips moving. The animators did this knowing the profane words would not go through, so that more mild curse words like jackass could be used without being nixed.
I loveeeeeee this show ! all the cat and mice show were awsmmmm ! '' aint gona do it aint gona do it LOLLLLL ! man i wish they wud make cartoons like these now cuz these days cartoons really suck ! merry melodies kikd ass ! I also like the mama bear papa bear show that was jokess too !
@AngelJuliet Could very well be Art Babbit, an disgruntled animator who used to work for Walt Disney studios. Other than that, Babbit or Babbot is a parody name used by WB to avoid trouble.
Read the article about Abbott & Costello on Wikipedia, they sure did the voices for this ones and some more, but after 1959 they quit doing that,Lou died.
@TheDuaneBrewer good no it wasnt good if was f ing GREAT the best times i would be watching these cartoons everyday when i woke up and woke up extra early on sat to watch these cartoons im now 27 n sorely miss watching these cartoons when i was back in kansas my sis babys i wuold show them these cartoons and turn off that spongebob crap and they actually were asking me if i can put these cartoons on for them b4 i left.
These LOONY TUNES have a truly timeless quality about them don't they?I don't know about you but I got nothing but priceless childhood memories and I'm very much attached to these characters(like Speedy Gonzalez,Fog Hornleghorn, the little chicken hawk,Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck!).Truly worldly treasures huh??Please reply!!
The skinny mouse's name is abott but he is saying babott. If you thinkthe cartoons are funny, please check out their abott and costello movies. They are awesome.
Yeah they're among my favorites. One of my favorite of their films is "Who Done It?", a comedy mystery. It's really cool because Costello ends up being the hero! There are also a LOT of gags, like Costello thinking the conversations on records are real. It's really funny because he gets insulted by the "Do you have halitosis?" commercial one and talks back with "What was that about halitosis?", and the record actuall responds with "Well what are you going to do about it?". XD
I don't know why some people think jackass is so bad when it means donkey, or a stupid person. It's really no worse than calling someone a jerk, idiot, fool, retard, loser, etc. They're not nice words, but it's not the same as swearing. When this cartoon was made, it was rare for any motion picture to even use mild curse words like damn, crap, or hell. So if jackass is such a bad word, that would have been censored as well, but it wasn't.
My personal favorite is "Who Done It?", a great comedy mystery. Not only is Costello the hero, but they also slip in a couple of references to their famous routine "Who's On First?"! The first one is when Abbot and Costello do a sequel where Abbot is trying to tell Costello about watts and volts and a frustrated Costello replies "Next you're going to tell me 'what's on second base'!" The second one is when Costello turns on a radio only to hear their routine and he doesn't recognize himself!
i think those 2 are my favorite in all the cartoons I ever saw, but they made so few with them in sadly,,,thanx a lot for uploading, I love you tube people...again thanx ... xxo
p.s. forgive my bad english y'all, I'm french oui?

I don't know why some people think jackass is so bad when it means donkey, or a stupid person. It's really no worse than calling someone a jerk, idiot, fool, retard, loser, etc. They're not nice words, but it's not the same as swearing. When this cartoon was made, it was rare for any motion picture to even use mild curse words like damn, crap, or hell. So if jackass is such a bad word, that would have been censored as well, but it wasn't.

lol, Abbott keeps smacking costello... these guys are funny as hell! especially in their one movie " Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy".
