The original joke was by Jimmy Tarbuck at a Royal Command Performance. He looked up at the Royal box and said, "That reminds me... I must buy a stamp!"
I can't help but think that this show was 100x more fun to make for about all the participants than it is for us to watch... I mean that as a comment on how damn fun this must be to make. They could probably spin any collected footage from the week they have to be alone in the house into a moderately entertaining companion reality show, but I prefer to think that the three alone in the house take the opportunity w/out cameras to spin some of the most uncouth and offensive jokes ever spoken
They do seem quite sweet here. As friends. It was great to see Robert that relaxed. When you see interviews with them, he´s quite decent, and a bit quiet, so it was lovely to see him enjoying himself and having fun like that ;) Maybe he díd miss David. David was stil being professional, because he said Robert and not Rob, when Robert buzzed the splitting up question, which I was almost a bit suprised by and I thought it was bit of a shame, cause the other thing would have been more sweet.
My first time watching this show. When I heard the concept behind it at the start, I thought: *groans* "Oh no, another idiotic reality show." After watching this through, however, I see that this is really a great concept.
I rather like the freedom of speech that they have during this and other British programs I've seen. I wish we were as free in America as they obviously are there in England....
The 'David Mitchell announces split with Robert Webb' bit was the most hilarious thing in the world. Robert mashing the button and crying, "FAKE", near tears... David cruelly laughing, "hell of a way to break it"
Anyone remember that episode of Peep Show where Mark told Jez how he was planning to move out and go work with Johnson in the sushi place, and Jez kind of lost it and his inner monologue goes "Maybe if I keep smiling, he won't leave"? Rob's reaction here is EXACTLY that. What a cruel joke to make! I'm sure they'll laugh it off latter, but its sad to see that heartbroken expression.
New Zealanders are not as reverential of the royal family as Brits tend to be, so the cottage loaf thing was perfectly reasonable. Comparing her to batshit however was (unless I'm missing some context) not so reasonable.
haha. I love Rob's face when David said he was going to concentrate on a solo career. He seemed really quite worried there for a second. Great episode. It's a shame we don't get to see them interacting as themselves more often because they're so funny.
@andyrooney11 Nope (but it would be really sweet if they were). Robert Webb and David Mitchell are a comedy duo. Check out "The Peep Show" and "That Mitchell and Webb Look" for some of their work.
I'm Canadian and am only familiar with them from YouTube. LOL
This episode almost makes me sad to be a New Zealander (what with all the racism and idiotic fashion 'experts'), we're not all that bad, really =). Great episode though, I do so love satirizing current mainstream media.

"So angry you coughed" a brilliant line by Rob, that's really easily missed at 4.23 :D

Lets b honest the POINT of this entire episode was that quickfire question about Rob and David splitting
227060 8 months ago 7
@227060 I thought that was kind of cruel to Rob :-(.
TipsyTulia 7 months ago
@TipsyTulia yes it was but it was a bit of an irrisitable joke
227060 7 months ago
@227060 maybe. To me, it was painful to watch. I would have liked to see David's expression if Rob had answered "Real"!. :-D
TipsyTulia 7 months ago
@TipsyTulia wouldn't that have been more cruela nd therefore more painful
227060 7 months ago
@227060 hmmmm, I don't think so, because David already knew the answer :-). The public, yes!, they would have had a shock :-).

4.22 - "Sheila" in the headline is misspelt "Shelia". Bit of a give away.

it's just the last of the series, not necessarily the entire show, so we can hope they'll make another one sometime!

In the UK "series" is the same as "season" for the US.
So, probably not done.
Hopefully.
