@Aerodil sign in to your channel, go to setting under your username, when it takes you to that page were you see the gray head as you picture under that it should say change... hopfully you can take it form there

@ChrisCa1601 Mine has the option to take still photos, so it's possible. Could also just upload a short video and use the option to create your picture from the thumbnail of that video.

That used to work but after another useless change in design it's not possible anymore. I'm guessing partners are only allowed to do that now. It won't be long till all non-partners simply get removed from YouTube and the entire concept of the original will be fully sacreficed for the allmighty dollar.

I can click on the account link at the top - but none of the links on the profile work - nothing happens except that the area I click on fades - and there's a message at the bottom left on the status bar that says "error on page"

Am I right in guessing that you are using Internet Explorer? IE seems to keep having too many problems with YouTube as of late. I can see if I can figure out what might be happening.

thanks - yes - I'm using IE8 with Vista - but the old channel was just fine - and the page doesn't even load fully in firefox or safari

It might have something to do with Vista... I have XP, and I was able to view things fine using IE8. Might be coincidence this happened with the switch to the beta channel design, but I can ask around to see what I can find.

I have no problems uploading a picture, but how do you get it to completely fill the space. It always appears as a small portion of the actual space; is there any way to dilate it in paint?

The size of the image isn't always the physical dimensions of the image, it may be referring to the file size, if it's over 256k it will not upload.

Saving it as a JPG should make it a smaller file size, if you haven't already done so.

GIMP allows you to adjust the quality of JPG's when you save them, you can probably reduce the quality a bit without losing too much detail of the image. GIMP also allows you to easily adjust the width and height of the image, so make sure it's something that's 100x100 or less.

my computer is being dumb. i have done all of this and more, but every time that i try to switch my picture, it wont let me. i will first put it to the default image so it is in a way back to sqare one, and then i will try to switch it to the image i created in paint, and it will upload and everything and everything will appear good and wonderful, but then it will switch back to my old picture, even after i deleted it from my saved files and put it to the default first. i am confused!!! help me!

Since I've heard other people have the same problem, yet I seem to be able to change my profile picture with only minor problems, I'm trying to figure out if there is an actual problem or not. Until then, I still recommend clearing browser cache, refreshing the page, and maybe even view your profile in a different web browser to see if it appears correctly there.

Your question isn't related to this video, but... If you know how to import a video clip into a video editor, you can do the same thing with nearly any kind of image. It varies a little depending on what video editor you are using.

It's in the same place, in the same box that appears. It appears just below the upload image option. You should see and be able to select from your previous 9 video thumbnail stills.

Click the button next to 'Choose an image still', then click one of the images just below that. You will see your three most recent ones, click the arrow to the right of them to move to the next three, and then click it again to see the last three, just click the one you want, and submit the change.

Hi, I have a question: I see here that the image is 88px by 88px, but I read on the Help Center (where I found your video) that my image will be resized to 130px by 96px, is this another new update? And also, which ones of this values is heigth and which one is width? I Thank your help.

88x88 has been the correct size for me since a year or so, the 130x96 is actually the outdated info. That size will work, but the sides will be cut off. (Width is usually placed before height, by the way.)

If the image is significantly larger than 88x88, the next best thing is to make it a perfect square (like 100x100, or 250x250, etc.). In Paint, you can change the size of the picture area by clicking on the 'image' menu and choosing 'attributes'.

If you had Annotations on, you would know the answer to your question... but I'll answer anyway: it's been changed to 'Profile Setup'. I added an Annotation to this video noting that change, and I made an update video showing the changes.

You could still just click on the 'Change' link below your current profile picture. That's still in the same place.
