I still cannot agree with Black having the title! The guy is an incredible wrestler, but his personality is so bland that it cannot hold a candle to guys like Nigel and Aries. We have seen wrestlers like Tyler everywhere. No one cares about what band t-shit you are wearing to the ring or the screamo band you walk out to. No mic skills but tons of talent (Rodrick Strong). Too bad ROH is all they are destined to unless they get a spot on NXT

Well....Tyler Black is OUR new ROH World Champion...I'm not very happy about it. And the main reason is presented in this Video wire: First we get Austin Aries delivering another great promo where he is convincingly upset about his loss, and then we get Tyler with one of the most dull and boring promos since...I don't know when. If Tyler doesn't get a 180° Gimmick turn, he won't be champion for long or the fans will start shitting on him like they did on Jerry Lynn.
@Wurzelknecht agree, i,d rather have richards as champion, the thing people don't seem to understand is this, a wrestler with a awesome promo and limited ability always trumps a wrestler who is a decent or below promo with awesome in ring skills. promo is more important because the object to the promo is to sell a feud, to sell a match and to sell your feelings on the match. if you can cut a promo where people feel the way you feel as a face toward the heel, it makes people want to come see it.
I wouldn't go as far as saying a guy with good promo skills and limited ability tops a good worker with average promo skills. At least not in ROH. A good talker has to be able to back up his words in the ring, or the ROH crowd (myself included) will shit on him (except Necro Butcher who is over because of his insane CZW brawls). Richards for example is great in both. He's tons better at promos than Tyler and IMO he's as good if not better in the ring.

I haven't seen much of Kingston in the ring yet. I only saw his squash matches on HDnet and an old but pretty intense grudge match against Hero in CZW, so there's not much that I can say about his wrestling skills. But nobody can cut promos on an emotional level like Kingston can. He should've been an actor with skills like that. But as of now, I can't see him being the ROH World Champ. Maybe I need to check out more of his matches. But he could be a future TV Champion...

I hate to say it, but except for Xavier ALL of ROHs World Champions have been or are in the "big leagues". Aries was misused like many others and (fortunately) went back to ROH were he got to carry the company. I wish Gibson and Cide would do the same...
I still can't understand to this day, why they put the strap on X instead of Christopher Daniels. I think the prophecy might be the only heel stable in history, where the follower got a major Title but not the leader.
Well maybe there were contract issues or something like that with TNA. But it's sad, that Daniels to this day is the only one of ROH's "founding fathers", that never had the belt...well at least he is a two time Tag Champ...
Yeah but Angle himself is a multitime World Champ in both WWE and TNA and since the MEM was as the name says made of Main Eventers it doesn't really count for me. Xavier simply wasn't at Main Event Level like Daniels was.
I really like Black, but I don't think he was ready for the belt. I would of kept it on Aries indefinitely, until I was SURE that a new guy could handle it. I don't think Black is good enough on the stick (right now) to be champ. He's a true technician in the ring, but his promos need work. But still, CONGRATS Black!! Aries had a great run as champion, but Black deserved it months ago and it's about time. I have my tickets for the show in Charlotte April 3rd and I can't wait to see what they have planned for that night.
Apart from Austin Aries and Tyler Black, these promos weren't very good. Too much heavy breathing and fidgeting, and not enough thought put into what was being said.
I remember I said once that Tyler Black doesn't sound too good on the mic, but then I have to realize his gimmick is himself and he's just being himself. Why try to overhype who he is when all he has to do is tell people hey I'm Tyler Black and I'm going to kick your ass laugh if you want but it's going to happen. Now, Lashley on the other hand as soft spoken as he is, I can't take him seriously. It's hard for me to read his face unless his eyes are bulging out.

Nah, Austin Aries' promo was actually dead on. The guy had 164 rematches. Between Nigel, Lynn, and Aries, he had to have at least 20 matches and rematches.

This Tyler Black title reign is going to be so unmemorable. A Double should still have the title...Black just isn't ready to be the main man in ROH yet.
Being a solid hand in the ring is only one aspect of the job though. He has worlds to learn when it comes to mic skills. If you seem uncomfortable in front of the stick, you're never gonna make it in the business. He isn't THAT great to rely solely on in his performances in the ring to speak for him ala Chris Benoit.
I disagree in a way. His title win is about a year or so too late. They way he was being built when he was about to split from AOTF, he could have and should have won the title from Nigel instead of Jerry Lynn. But, here's hoping he can become another Danielson instead of another Xavier.

I hate to say it, but except for Xavier ALL of ROHs World Champions have been or are in the "big leagues". Aries was misused like many others and (fortunately) went back to ROH were he got to carry the company. I wish Gibson and Cide would do the same...

I still can't understand to this day, why they put the strap on X instead of Christopher Daniels. I think the prophecy might be the only heel stable in history, where the follower got a major Title but not the leader.
Well maybe there were contract issues or something like that with TNA. But it's sad, that Daniels to this day is the only one of ROH's "founding fathers", that never had the belt...well at least he is a two time Tag Champ...

Yeah but Angle himself is a multitime World Champ in both WWE and TNA and since the MEM was as the name says made of Main Eventers it doesn't really count for me. Xavier simply wasn't at Main Event Level like Daniels was.

I really like Black, but I don't think he was ready for the belt. I would of kept it on Aries indefinitely, until I was SURE that a new guy could handle it. I don't think Black is good enough on the stick (right now) to be champ. He's a true technician in the ring, but his promos need work. But still, CONGRATS Black!! I love RoH, and I honestly would like to be proven wrong about this! R O H! R O H!

I really love where this roller-coaster feud with Steen, Corino, Generico and Cabana is going, as I'm sure it'll be one of the most memorable... I remember I said once that Tyler Black doesn't sound too good on the mic, but then I have to realize his gimmick is himself and he's just being himself. Why try to overhype who he is when all he has to do is tell people hey I'm Tyler Black and I'm going to kick your ass laugh if you want but it's going to happen. Now, Lashley on the other hand as soft spoken as he is, I can't take him seriously. It's hard for me to read his face unless his eyes are bulging out.

Nah, Austin Aries' promo was actually dead on. The guy had 164 rematches. Between Nigel, Lynn, and Aries, he had to have at least 20 matches and rematches.
They did it so often, by the time he won it, no one cared anymore.

Being a solid hand in the ring is only one aspect of the job though. He has worlds to learn when it comes to mic skills. If you seem uncomfortable in front of the stick, you're never gonna make it in the business. He isn't THAT great to rely solely on in his performances in the ring to speak for him ala Chris Benoit.

I disagree in a way. His title win is about a year or so too late. They way he was being built when he was about to split from AOTF, he could have and should have won the title from Nigel instead of Jerry Lynn. But, here's hoping he can become another Danielson instead of another Xavier.
