Does Billy pretty much write all of his songs on an acoustic alone before bringing them to life? If so, were there any exceptions?

This is really interesting to listen in on this demo. It's clear that his singing is really just for documentation, almost as if he hears the completed version in his mind but doesn't want to figure it all out yet, so he documents it this way so he can recall the final version in his mind... He even left space at 2:30 for those guitars. So weird.
