0 isn't even because the rule is that an even number is divisible by two, and an odd isn't. It's not just a matter of swapping each time. You might think that this rule applies to one, but if it did apply to the number one it would apply to every odd number. An odd is caused by when you divide by two and don't get a whole number. 0 doesn't count because there is nothing to divide the 2 into.

think of N. N*4 then add N = N multiplid by 4 add 1 N = 5N

then divide 5N by N = 5N/N = 5

oh and you can use any number positive or negative between 0 and infinity (except 0 itself) and can be a decimal, and you will still end up with 5
