  • ЯБЫВДУЛ

  • sexy terminal

  • thats what we call fast computing :D

  • where on earth did you get that computer from

a NASA clearout sale or something it's ancient.

  • This was a micro computer.

  • Sweet Jesus you have a Lear Siegler ADM-5?! That's more amazing than the IMSAI! Those are completely impossible to find.

  • ITS A FALLOUT TERMINAL!

  • That's a Microsoft variant of Basic, by Bill Gates himself, cause it asked for Terminal Size aka Terminal Column width.

  • Keptain, the engine can't take a' too much more a dis. We need moar DieLithium Batteries!

  • how much is it

  • ComputerGroupies d o t com could use one of these.

  • Did this come with a better processor than the Altair 8800?

  • I loved those wide plastic paddle-switches. They were so much easier to use than the metal ones on the Altair!

  • @SherwinGooch

...or the push-buttons on the 1604.

  • This thing could run portal 2...Of course...In high graphics!Lol jk xD

  • This thing is a better therapist than the one I'm paying for.

  • wtf is that xD?

  • I love everything about this computer. Give it a faster processer, keep the monochrome display, and you've got perfection.

  • WHERE CAN YOU FIND THESE AGAIN.

  • thats great design right there!

  • Would you like to play a game?

  • that was awesome

  • Thumbs up for another three years.

  • I have the same terminal from the flea market $5

    Nice big circuit board.

  • I thought change: 31 IF Y=0 THEN GOTO 33 32 PRINT " ";:GOTO 40 33 PRINT "-";:GOTO 40 without testing I cannot guarentee that Y might ever exactly equal zero so: 7 H=INT(R/2) 31 IF H=0 THEN GOTO 33 32 PRINT " ";:GOTO 40 33 PRINT "-";:GOTO 40 41 H=H-1 could equally use ABS(SIN(X)) < T to check for the zero(ish) bar but the floating point math isnt worth the speed penalty.
  • Is that a VT100 Terminal connected to a serial port? If you used a video card that outputs to composite, are there then serial keyboards that you can connect?

  • did you mean "sine wave"?

  • I want that as a present!

  • Open the pod doors, Hal.

  • I love the LEDs! For some reason it feels like it's more powerful than a modern counterpart because you can see it "working".

  • This video makes me want to get an IMSAI 8080 so badly! There are a couple of them listed on eBay, but they're listed for $2,000-$3,000. :(

By the way, does that machine have 16K memory?

  • @rhall4th you can actually buy a altair680 kit from briel computers now. google briel computer and u find a nice kit. affordable. pretty much the same. just in mini format but with all the led's etc.

  • At least it's faster than windows vista

  • Remember Ample Anny?

  • do you have the code listing for the wave program

  • hahaha historic =]

  • !!!!!!!!!!

WHEN IS THIS COMING OUT?!?!?!?!?! Lol

  • I see a big difference from the modern computers and this one.

  • I can not wait to buy it :D :D

  • Ah BASIC. How I miss it. So straightforward.

  • A strange game.

The only winning move is not to play.

  • did you guys know you can actually buy Altair kits once again and build your own?

I am not sure about the IMSAI however.

  • wow all that just for making that line.....Im sure this computer didnt even connect to BBS let alone intertnet!! (of course home net wasnt around then but if you tried to hook it up today there is no way it can)

  • @girlstorm09 actually, many people hook it to the phone line, it would make a call and talk to a computer on the other side

it wasnt the internet but it worked

  • Fact: Modern computers need more LEDs!

  • Wow, this looks like the thing I emulated in an FPGA. I saw one of these in the Intel Museum, only it was an authentic Altair.

  • I WANT ONE!!!

  • looks a bit scary. .

  • wow....80 signs on that mashine? wow...I've seen in the movie "Wargames" and ever think thats a fake...:) cool.

  • Just think if it weren't for this computer, they might still be for scientific use only

  • Print me a bunny rabbit, dammit! I wanna bunny!

  • Nope... I don't think I could play Doom on that thing. Need a little more than 16K ...

  • 4kb FAIL! To think you can get mac pro's with 32gb today!?!?

  • Excuse you, Mac wasn't invented at the time.

Nor was Microsoft, so why the hell would you bring the war here?

This is history, and you just failed your class.

  • @KCNTV sadly macs are over priced pieces of junk. the only reason people even buy them is because it says Apple on it and everyone knows that if a new apple product comes out all the preppy little kids need to get there hands on it. When I could build my own windows machine for 3k and it would be better than the 20k over clocked mac. Just sayin

  • when they say altair 4k basic demo does the 4k mean 4 kilobytes of ram?

  • @hddr3

It means that it can run in a machine with 4kb of ram. The size of the executable i think is a about 3 kb, there is not much space left. If you have more memory you can type longer programs. There was also a 8kb version with more functions

  • @hddr3 yes, kilobytes

  • This is an amazing video! You have no idea what I'd do for one of these machines...

  • Such a lovely machine <3

Would be cool to see some more demos, especially on bloated machines, since the internal S100 isn't thought out very smart ... but damn flexible.

  • Mythicals pieces of hardware.

    Hey N00bs, a computer IS A COMPUTER.

And with those machines, your intelect is the limit. What you can do? how you far can go? push it beyond the limits is the real challenge, not wasting time playing marketing operations.

  • ICBM ignition sequence start :p

  • Can you connect more than one terminal to these machines? And can you connect the VT100? We have a zillion of those at work so borrowing one isn't that hard.

  • Now THATS what a computer should look like!!!

All you guys playing WoW dont know you are born...

  • What is the code?

  • I got my first computer at 4, and it was a hand me down MAC performa lol! I junked it for a COCO III a few months ago. I want an IMSAI with a terminal

  • you dont disgrace this kind of technology with WoW.

  • Indeed - you might play STARTREK or ADVENTURE on it, though.

  • Great work. Thanks for this video

  • I suppose a terminal then would cost even more than a teletypewriter? I would image a few grand at least?

  • Whats the computer on top of the IMSAI?

I love those old machines, IMSAI, 8800, i wish they still made them in kit form.

  • thats not a computer. its a terminal.

  • I just remember this one from WarGames lol. So its just a keyboard terminal. Thanks for letting me know.

  • This could be a Stereolab video!

Excellent that people are keeping classic machines like this in working condition. Thanks for posting it!

  • Cool old machine the oldest machine I have in my collection is an apple ///.

Hard to believe we went from this to the Amiga in less then ten years.

  • Just shows how much Crysis really did become the new Public Bentchmarker

  • no you cant now go fuck yourself

  • can i play crysis with this? lol

  • Same thing over and over again.

    "Can it run Crysis?"

"Hey, lets play Crysis on it!"

"Can I play Crysis on it?"

Its not that funny any more. Sorry to be like this, but its seriously not funny.

  • man nerds like u cant accept any of these jokes anymore....lol

  • lol wow ur an insult bro, lol

  • Wanker... If you were a serious gamer you would appreciate he beauty of this machine... perhaps you think computes are just toys for playing... I remember having massive fun with a commodore 64, with no games loaded..

  • lol i once had a windows 98 se computer when i was like 4, i crashed it, that was fun

  • "Cool. 1970s microcomputer tech. Nice to see a machine running. I've seen plenty of dead and decapitated ones!"

i know a couple of retrocomputer collecting guys that would kill for a IMSAI8080, even if its dead.

  • Superb. I love the look of them terminals too.

  • I want to play Global Thermonuclear War.

  • "Protovision, I have you now!"

  • Very cool to see this! =D

    Thanks for uploading!

  • boot faster than my ibook pro

  • looks like a T-BAR

  • Hey - I could _really_ use a copy of that tape loader code. I've got an IMSAI and an ADM-3A too. Could you e-mail a hex file or something?

  • Too bad we don't have any 64 bit altairs. I love the s-100 bus's style of nearly full customizability.

  • So incredbly awesome and yet i wish they would still produce it

  • Erm... This isn't the basic Bill wrote, is it?

  • I have to say this: god bless basic on rom :)

cool vid, nice to see stuff this old in use

  • What's that rattling noise?

  • Snow melting off of the upper roof and dripping down on a lower metal roof.

  • You freakin' rock. Best demo of an Imsai 8080 I've ever seen. Thanks.

  • wonderful!

  • Cool. 1970s microcomputer tech. Nice to see a machine running. I've seen plenty of dead and decapitated ones!
