The 2133's do seem to struggle loading XP, strangely enough. A few tweaks helps, but the performance is still lacking. I'm surprised the 2133 "won" in this instance.
funny, but truly i clocked and it takes 8 seconds,im using a cutom copy of xp on my eee pc, i have two eee pcs, and the one that is in my youtube videos is my normal copy of windows, my other one has the custom copy, dual core processor needed.
NO, NLITED XP, OR VLITE, WHICH EVER ONE, I CANT REMEMBER. I HAVE IT ON A FLASH DRIVE. SORRY BOUT THE CAPS. oh and search winsetupfromusb 1.1, it allows u to put windows xp on a flash drive and install form it.
never heard of it until u told me, and i clocked my eee pc boot up, i was wrong it is 10 seconds for ful boot. But thanks for tellin me about micro xp, i downloaded it yesterday and i plan on putting it on my eee pc.
We all know that they don't have dual cores. The reason it's so fast is because the OS that comes default on the Eeepc, a linux derivative, is wicked-fast. Mine usually boots somewhere between 7 and 12 seconds.
i got windows 7 AND vista running at the same time with a 0.2 Ghz processor and it takes about 0.003 seconds to turn on xD lol and my keyboard on ly has one button for everything i dont have a mouse its mind control =]
I have a dv7t. A 6-7 lb notebook is great but its just hell to carry to school just to take notes or surf the web. Netbooks are great for everyday use. Since we usually end up surfing the web more than playing games.
God damned shut your mouth if u doesn't know anything about this! Asus Eee with Celeron model is underclocked as standart! You must overclock it to 900Mhz and if u ask for 1Ghz, forget on it. I can't overclock my Eee more than 940Mhz.
dont give me your bitch. shut your bitch hole and fuck off. you ovbiously dont know anythings about computers. IT SAYS RIGHT ON THE FUCKING BOX DUMBSHIT. whatever. im just gonna ignore you becuase you or your opinions dont matter to me AT ALL.
Well I HAVE Asus Eee and I HAVE HP 2133 Mini note so I know what I'm talking about, kid! And it says he OVERCLOCK IT TO 900Mhz, so he CAN'T overclock it more u dumass. SouthEastBlue is right, I'm right and you are just some little kid that think he is tought...
Your wrong - the Processor is UNDER clocked as standard, you need to overclock it to get it's correct speed. The underclock as standard is to prolong battery life.
Next time you talk from your rear end make sure you know what your talking about.
How are these? Are they just slow to boot up and open applications? Or are they also slow when you are trying to do stuff. I'm contemplating on getting one. I'm not too worried about botting up time, my concern is while the application is loaded is it going to run slow ? I am extremely knowledgable about computer and laptops but havent had the chance to test out one of these.
Not really, I have an Eeepc 901 running Ubuntu-eee and it loads things just as fast as my 13.3inchn Toshiba laptop (as for my desktop, well thats a quad core so its in a different league)
Quad-Core is hardly useful for anything yet.(not support for that) Hence, some dual-cores are faster that Quad-Cores(For now). But yes, in very near future, Quad-Core will kick ass badly.
but its using x64 Linux and almost all the programs can be set up to use up to 256 (remember Linux is the main os for supercomputing) cores. For example in manslide (video editor) is currently set up to use all 4 cores and so it the gimp (image editor).
I really dislike quadcores, I own one thats 2.0 Ghz Each core, but I sold it and switched to a tri-core 3.0GHZ. Its waaaaay faster and I found drivers that utilize all the cores at once,
Truth is, what this looks like to me is that you have a 701 that you regularly use, and an out of the box 2133. IMO, this is not a fair comparison as I have absolutely no idea what crap (scuse my language) that you might have loaded on that Eee. Out of the box or off a fresh install of XP, it should really take maybe 30 seconds MAX from the push of the power button on the Eee.
The Video card for both subnotebook is not really great if you want to play games. If you want to increase the performance of this... I recommend you to Install Linux Ubuntu it is more intuitive.
It's not comparable to any high end system such as MAC. For me I prefer to get HP 2133 if you're looking for basic performance gr8 screen resolution keyboard is 92% closest to the actual desktop keyboard it is slightly heavier to asus eee though I rest assured that you won't disappoint once you have it.
I don't think the Hp Mini note is that bad. Low performance OK i get it, but it is meant mainly for people in school. The boost up time is slow with Vista, but the time it takes to download a program or access a program is pretty fast. I do agree that Vista needs work to improve.
I don't think this is a fair test. You should compare two clean installs.
You could have a couple of services in the eee and that could be adding some more time to your boot up. Although I thank you for testing the MiniNote with XP. Those idiots put Windows Vista on a crappy processor and I am sure they all at HP have realized that now. ALL the reviews say the same: Low performance. Under-average processor.
because the author/uploader of this video installed xp on it (hp is now offering drivers for the 2113 for xp pro, just look at the HP support page, (they realized how idiotic the whole "vista on a 1.2 ghz processor" thing was)
I think I'll go with the mini note, I've been watching a few comparisons of these two, I see mini note is faster (better specs too, and up to 10x as much HD space as the eee pc, relatively the same size!!)
The fact that you modded it and put crap on it that others probably wouldn't when install XP makes it very unfair. Also I think someone else mentioned that your resolution is phucked. I agree.
Actually it would make it unfair to compare these two machines w/ totally different Operating systems on them. This is showing which Machine would boot XP faster.
That depends on the SSD. They are not all speed demons. My dell runs the Samsung 64G SSD and it is a smoker but it also costs over $900 USD. There are cheaper ones but they are slower too.
Yes i know, Xp is now perfectionated... but now Vista users have a lot of problems as we used to with XP when it was released. It's gonna take a lot of time, tests and updates to make it better....
This is clearly not a fair comparison, since the eeePC seems to be using some sort of mod software making the start up resolution far higher than on the HP.
as far as i am concerned the speeds of the chipsets are alright. My old 1.3ghz celeron platform worked well on XP for almost everthing if you are not too demanding. But i just wished there was something with a keyboard of the size of that of the mininote and the weight of the eeePc. This would make a perfect portable work station.

or a regular pc dickhead! everyone save yourself, time, frustration and money and avoid macs and buy a regular pc and save yourself $1000 or over. You can get a pc with the same specs as a mac for at least $1000 cheaper. Macs suck and they are bad value for money, rather than me insulting macs which i am anyway, its more a fact than an insult, so by a pc not a mac and save yourself some money!
Is that the EEE with the underclocked 630 MHz CPU?? I bet it's the underclocked EEE with 630 MHz... so a Via 1.2 GHz boots in roughly the same time as a 600 MHz intel celeron... nice.

or a regular pc dickhead! everyone save yourself, time, frustration and money and avoid macs and buy a regular pc and save yourself $1000 or over.

I bet it's the underclocked EEE with 630 MHz... so a Via 1.2 GHz boots in roughly the same time as a 600 MHz intel celeron... nice.
ccben 3 years ago
The Eee PC is running at 900MHz. I've updated the description to make this more clear.
