  • This is Not X Its Doe Solo with some exene poser chick lame

  • @waltruether loser, it is exene

  • @billk754 hahaha!! xx Ahhh i needed a good laugh today thank youuuuuu ....*sigh*......im serious

  • @waltruether Its good to see that ignorance does consume those that think they the everything.

  • I like the imagery in this poem. Even if it were only read aloud (sans music) it would still get your brain thinking. Thinking about what your life means.

  • Been a proud fan since the 80s,. Songs of sorrow are good for the soul. Smart that they sneak in some "punk" ideas into tunes with a heartland target audience.

  • When did john doe begin to think he was john cougar mellencamp

  • A lot of people in this thread need to listen to the message this song is telling, I don't care who is singing it.

  • One of the best songs ever fucking written.

  • I wish there a verison of "You" from the same album. Maybe, my favourite song ever.

  • wow...such a long time ago...<3

  • this song sucks.

there was no point of writing it.

    its NOT X.

  • @earlajune Absolutely wrong. This is exactly X (minus Billy Zoom). You need to allow a band to grow or they end up touring for 30 years on their first three records.... oh wait a minute.

  • @MrMarkalynch

    i strongly hate this song.

hahahahah but you know what x is my favorite band so you dont have to tell me boring things like that so yeah. and yeah.

  • this makes me want to go waterboard edgar bromfman jr

  • being poor is fun. when else is jail a reward? Save celebs and steal copyrighted material.

I think X is another crappy band sent here to ruin my day set to cool music anyway.. kill those jokers with greasy stinkies

  • There is something seriously wrong: there are NO proper X videos on Youtube -- they've all been removed due to copyright infringement or whatever. They made some great clips in the 80s for songs like "Motel Room in My Bed" and "Because I Do." It's a crime you can't watch them on Youtube!

  • WMG..no one is buying X songs, you hurt the band

  • @chancesareshewears awesome, I hate americans, the liars, i hope the members of x all have a sleeping pill contest. their so punk. liar american jesus punk rock murder devil

  • @chancesareshewears how can you financially hurt a band that devoted energy to do it yourself punk rock 80's anti capitalism reagan gloabl nazi shit.. it just don't make no sense, do they want money for X tattoos done in hobo fashion as well? ha ha ha

  • copyright sucks

  • This song is an historical artifact and deserves to be in the public domain. What do you think John and Exene?

  • Wow! Really, I was going buy and download the whole album from itunes, WMG you just lost a customer. You guys are missing out on a great advertising outlet....what a bunch of dickheads!

  • @grambo365 Maybe they dont really want THIS music to get exposuer,.. has THAT occured to you ?

  • @Skulldini No because fuck you.

  • @ihavestage4coolness What ????

  • @ihavestage4coolness Well then, how would you like to do me? .. straight or doggy?

  • @Skulldini well then will be fine.

  • FUCK YOU! 10 mins to understand that this vid has no sound

  • dear studio attorney who trolls the internet making sure your precious copyright isnt infringed: HOST THIS YOURSELF, OR GIVE THE FANS THE AUTHORITY TO DO SO THEMSELVES. greedy, selfish, lazy.

  • so lame they took the sound away. retarded.

  • when there is no sound.why dont you remove the vid!

  • WMG sucks on doggie dicks!

  • Comment removed

  • Boooooooo!!!!! Talk about promoting a fraud, I want to hear something darn it!

  • c'mon, WMG fuck you

  • This awsome video deserves the AUDIO!!!!!

  • GIVE audio a CHANCE!!

  • THIS TRULY IS THE UNHEARD MUSIC!

  • Ahh who is this Edgar Brofman anyway huh ?

  • Very, very weak, YouTube!

  • You should listen to this song youtube, see how you are????

  • be thankful they are still out there giving it their all.

  • one of my all time favorites

  • Best band L.A ever produced. Outstanding tune.

  • And if they did sell millions then everyone would miss the "good old days", when you could see them at a club instead of a coliseum. Like Fitzgeralds in Houston in 1986, I think it was.

  • what can i say ? five stars.

  • Yea,theres a double live album with T.G. playing ,its good, from 1987 or so.I saw original band with Zoom 3 or 4 times also here in D.C. They were actually opening for Warren Zevon in 87 that time. ROSS

  • Tony Gilkyson is playing guitar in this lineup..

Stiil a GREAT song even without Bily Zoom.

  • yea, i forgot all those great albums nobody bought. I saw em once with different guitar player,Tony Gilkyson, or something, werent as good.

  • One of the finest songs put out by one of the most underrated bands in America

  • I couldn't have said it better.

    gary

  • Homeboy...could his last name be T.R.O.U.B.L.E.?

    Great song.....

  • Hey Carrie....

I hope you enjoy the video..

    Gary

  • i love this song

  • Still one of my all-time favorites that I like to spin on the turntable. Crank it up!

  • This was part of the cowpunk era. NICE

  • Love the lyrics to this, and the music...ahh, I loved X.

  • An Irish folk band I play with occasionally does this song, this is my first exposure to X. Breathtaking; poetic, pointed, powerful, perfect. An absolutely amazing band and song.

  • X is poetic in almost all of their songs, but this is borderline folk Dylan-worthy.

Amazing message. And you gotta appreciate X for everything they've done and especially their style of writing.

  • John Doe did an acoustic version of this by himself (not the one with Dave Alvin) that was on the IRS show on MTV in the late 80s. That is to this day the most beautiful acoustic rendition of a song I've heard.

  • One of the all time great songs. They're playing about 5 blocks from my house tonight, original line-up, and it's SOLD OUT! It's killin' me!!

  • one of my favourite song! X were great,i miss this band.

  • Swan Song for our Country, maybe?

  • This shows that Exene can harmonize like any typical singer, but she chooses different most the time. Still one of my favorites, and they performed it in Atlanta, at the Variety in 2008. Where they were and remain, a great American band!

  • How cute was Exene in this video?? I know she'd hate this but hummana hummana hummana!!!!

  • This is my favorite song with them. John Doe lives in Frazier Park area about an north in the mountains north of LA..along HWY 5....he is such a gifted songwriter.....

  • I've been a fan of X for 22 years or so... how did i never hear this song?? i never owned this album - but i really like other songs on this album. how frickin great is it to discover such a great X song in 2008. - awesome.

  • I too have been a fan and this song was actually only premiered on a solo project withJohn Doe.

I last saw John at a small club on Fairfax and he was aged but great. Real dude playing real music. Not enough of that these days it seems to me or I am just getting old.

    WHo knows :-)

  • Exene's AWESOME R.O.T.C. shoes at :28. Right side of the dashboard! I love her!

  • Was at the X show in Boston last night. Great version played with Exene! It is a crime that X were never bigger. Still an incredible band! Long Live X!!!!

  • I saw them in Houston, June 3rd. I agree with you 100%.

  • My favorite X tune, great band live too, unfortunately I saw them before they wrote this song.

  • think this my fav tune by this band....always thought they were over rated....but this tune is a classic.

  • Gorgeous song, doncha miss their harmonies!?

  • This song says a lot .......if anyone cares?

  • I care.

  • Thank you. Really. I needed to hear that today. xx

  • Pretty song. X's stuff is timeless, ageless, peerless.....

  • pecker 360 is on the run and i am going to pop him

  • BEER,GAS,.....RIDE FOREVER!!!!!!

  • God 1/3 of my life is gone -if i live forever- why do decades never come alive for me until its to late?

  • Playing here in a couple of daze at First Avenue. Thinking of my good friend as he has just checked himself into treatment. This is his favorite song! The power of healing and music...

  • one of x's best songs. i always loved john doe and exene cervenca's harmonies.

  • one of the all time great songs, from one of the finest bands ever to come out of LA, love those harmonies. tks for posting, big fan from way - back....

  • Very underated group. Great song. Thanks for posting.

  • THANKS FOR POSTING!!!!!!

  • 20 years on, one wonders what the lyrics of this song would be today...one of the greatest American bands EVER...

  • Looking for the video "4th of July" from the same album. Let me know if you know where to look/

  • the best i could find is "John Doe and His Rockin' Band - Fourth of July" but not the best audio.

  • this song makes me cry & be ashamed to be an American. I got to where I considered X compared to the first three records sellouts but as I got older, their later period stuff made more sense.

  • we should be ashamed...by our so called "leadership"

  • saw jon doe 3 months back in in july in new york...for a cajun to see that show and growing up in "the eighties" WAS A HELL OF AN experiance..thank you jon..beer,gas,ride forever..

  • looking for the video "4th of July" from the same album. Let me know if you know where to look

  • @toowired11 It's on here!:)I just posted to one of my network pages. It's an amazing song.Just type in"X fourth of july"

  • A great band from an underrated era. I recall listening to this in college and now, listening again I see what prophets they were.....all our great artists are. And yes, Ms Cervenka look pretty damn good here.

  • Great song from the greatest authentic rock and roll band of the last 30 years. Exene is looking mighty attractive in this video as well!

  • i found it!!

    thanks

  • I was 14 years old in 1982 when I found punk. I through my metal records in the oven and warped em all. Then had my hair buzzed off to go the spiky route and joined the Decline of Western Civilization. God bless the Ramones, the Pistols and the Clash for stating it all and hail to the reigning godfather- Mr. Ness. SD

  • Fantastic song -- brings a lump in my throat.

  • "See how we are" indeed.

X = One of the greatest, most underrated American bands. Why they didn't sell millions of "More Fun In The New World" is criminal.

  • Too many Mariah Carey fans, I guess.

  • Too many people were listening to REM. Back in '83 I said both X and REM would be huge. In retrospect, it was wishful thinking. At least I didn't have to watch X sell out.

  • Feel the same....Replacements never really got their due either

  • To westofthefeilds; Probably because most idiots at the time were too buisy focusing on ohh Micheal Jackson, Madona, Duran Duran, Def Leopard, Bon Jovie etcetera to give this groupe any notice.

  • Okay. I like punk. I like this band and I love this song. But someone always has to be on top and one can say Michael Jackson or Madonna appealed then because of their ability to reach more people with their music. Some people aren't ready to hear the message in this song. You reject pop stars, they reject an important messge.

    See how we are?

  • Because there's the paradox. If they did sell millions you would say they suck. By nature they would be overexposed and you would be annoyed by all the 14 year olds or 30-something trendies who would adore them like the latest flavor of the month.
