Between Eunice and Opelousas (LAWTEL). I really like Eric's version, but I think Jason Bergeron has the best rendition on their CD coming out in FEB 09' (with Steve Riley and Jamie Bearb). It is unbelievable Jason, then Steve, then Jason closes it out.... You would have to hear it to understand.
Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler. Good food, suck a little head, eat a little tail, ayeeee!!!, good friends, good music, cold beer! Life just doesn't get any better. I'm in the horse racing industry, the " Cradle of Jockeys " Evangeline Downs, in Opelousas. Thank-you for sharing. Hopefully one day I will get to Fred's. My former boss is from Ville Platte, he showed me the " good life " Mr. Fontenot.
Mamou is a very small town about 40 miles NW of Lafayette. Hammond is well off to the east towards the New Orleans side, maybe about that same distance (40 m.) beyond Baton Rouge. It's N-NW of New Orleans, with Lake Pontchartrain in between. The man in green is playing a triangle, a traditional percussion instrument in Cajun music. The song was written by Marc Savoy, who is a superb accordionist from Eunice and makes the famous "Acadian" accordion (handmade/custom).
Thanks Gatorgarfish, I have not been on in awhile and haven't had a chance to respond. The guy playing the Triangle is named "Barry" and is a Fred's Lounge Staple.
I figured he was a regular. Still don't see a triangle. Looks like he's hitting 2 rocks together. Someday I will get to Fred's.
I got hooked on Cajun music about 15 years ago when I stumbled on a late night TV show that had been recorded in the '80s "Aly meets the Cajuns" or something like that. DL Menard, Dewy Balfa and Mark Savoy were on it.

I hope to someday be as good as Eric. Stewart Matte and I are working on this song and will post it in ten years when I can compete in Eric's League.

Actually - the accordion that Eric is playing on is an Acadian...custom made by Marc Savoy.
