  • its good to see all three flags side by side think years ago we where at war

  • @309scully Its not the british flag it the united kingdom flag. The english British and Uk flags are all diffrent

  • if it were not for England there would be no Scotland or America!

  • W O N D E R F U L !! I must have watched this 50 times! Barren Rocks of Aden is a new tune I am learning..I'm fairly new at playing the Pipes.

  • 'TIS "BARREN ROCKS OF ADEN! W o n d e r f u l! Thanks!

...and to ye who are so mean hearted & hate filled as to post NEGATIVE WAVES HERE....words can't express my fellings...

  • i play the pipes... and it isnt defaning...its rather good , ...

  • That is incorrect, the stars and stripes should be flown to the marching center.

  • well i dont no about the rest of you but my ears would bleeding nonstop if i were in the middle of this!!!!

  • The Irish gave the bagpipes to the Scotts as a joke, but the Scotts haven't seen the joke yet.lol

  • Absolutely brilliant - particularly liked the young drummer bringing up the rear!

  • Great music. Pity about having that shitty English flag between the Scots saltire and the Stars and Stripes.

  • thats the union jack aka the BRITISH flag lol and i prefer it to the american one any day

  • no brain box it aint on a ship so its the union flag get it right...let the lion roar on FREEDOM

  • Wow, that was brilliant, I'm proud to be Scottish ! Those kids with the snares in the back were wicked ! Anyroad, those are a lot of quite talented bagpipe players !!!

  • Holy crap. That's a lot of bagpipes. =)

  • n1 one

  • That was the first Highland Gathering I ever went to !!!!

    Thanks for posting.

  • Alba go bragh! ;)

  • I see my boyfriend! :) 1:10

  • How can you tell? They all look alike. lol. :)

  • I can spot my boyfriends cute cheeks anywhere :p ;)

  • I love this music. Where else can you find the music being played in unison, with no conductor, nothing for the players to read from and also including little kids. Thanks for sharing.

  • it's Corriechoillie, a 2/4th march

  • 001bagpiper I'm afraid you are wrong, the tune is "The Barren Rocks of Aden" and not "Corriechoille's Welcome To The Northern Meeting" It can be found in the Scots Guards Pipe Music Vol. 1 page 116 and Corriechoillie can be found in the same book page 123. Both 2/4 marches.

  • i checked, and im sorry, you are absolutely right... excuses for my fault

  • Absolutely no problem 001 bagpiper I'm glad to have been of help.

  • AWW I LOVE THE LOVE I SEE

  • 001, CPD or Emerald Society?

  • my dads from glasgow im mexican

  • So you must be able to do a Scots sword dance and Mexican hat dance at the same time ?

watch your toes ! If your Grandmother was from Wales you'd be able to sing great.

Then you'd be the perfect human being !

Best Wishes from a Celtic half cousin

  • This is so cool. o.o I wanna see this live some time!

  • I love the wee man at the end with a wee drum and wee legs playing his wee heart out!

  • your not scottish are you?

  • Awesome!! Makes me so proud of my heritage (my dad was born and raised in Glasgow, moving to the States as a teen). But, you can't truly appreciate the feeling of a massed band until you've experienced it live! It is awe inspiring, ground shaking, and heart swelling! My dad would always tell me tales when I was a child about how armies would flee from the sound of the pipes and drums as they marched fearlessly into battle. Easy to understand why!

  • Ah, yes...massed mess. lol

  • canadian/scottish, my heritage was all about this, long line of miltary men

  • where waswas the mass bands playing??

  • it called Barren Rocks of Aden....no music on this earth has the power of a pipe and drum mass band....can you imagine the horror it must have sent across the minds of the enemy during war....to realy experience the feeling you need to see it live....i assure you your hair will stand on end and you will have a tear in your eye!!!

  • yea thnx for replying..... yea its a great song i can play it too.. do u know where that is? like where they r playing?

  • The Massed Bands were playing at the L.A. County Fairgrounds in Pomona, CA over the Memorial Day weekend last year. This year the Highland Games have been moved to the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, CA - same weekend. My band was in the first flight captured in this video. We will be at Costa Mesa as well. Come on down and bring your pipes, unless you are a true musician, in which case you will be bringing your drums!!!

  • bit far away for me lol

  • Breathtaking music!

  • Exactly. I wouldn't want us to Break up. I want better rights for England. The ammount of stuff we get ripped off here on is stupid.

But i like being in the union, infact the union flag is my heritage. I was born in England but my family were from Nrth Ireland and mainly Scotland. So it's all the flags i need in one. Being English i use that and the Cross of st george. I Play in a Scottish pipe band and we use the union flag aswell. Which i like because it shows my heritage too.

  • Britain is only a political union between four "SEPERATE" countries. Nothing wrong with proudly flying your own flag (especially if your a Scot haha)

  • wow

  • yayyy I'm in the video at about 1:10

  • realy awesome...luv it...

  • The Union Jack is flying high at the front of the parade because the tune that is being played is called the Barren Rocks of Aden. That is where a Scottish Regiment in the British Army excelled itself once again.

  • The flag is called "The Union Flag" unless it is flown on a vessel of Her Majesty's Royal Navy, only then is it known as "The Union Jack".

Surely the Scottish flag should be at the front of a Scottish Pipe Band?

  • love it!

  • I love hearing bagpipes being played while marching, makes me feel like i'm marching right into the battle field.

  • and you can imagine, what happens if the enemy didn't know bagpipes at all... he just heard a big, melodic noise, drums, and feet marching, mouths singing... and swords rattling. I would flee, i think...

  • That would have to been scary.

  • yeahhhhhhhh bagpipe power

  • The video was shot at the Pomona Fairgrounds in Pomona, CA USA during the Scottish Games.

  • Being Scottish is British !!

  • Great to see our heritage overseas but why the fek is the Butchers Apron being flowen at the front of this march? Scottish not british.

  • well Great Britain wouldnt be so great if Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Ireland were a part of your it would it now?

  • Where was this captured?

  • Your video clip is great and I've rated it as awesome. Please check out mine on some 1920's trading cards of musical instruments, including the bagpipes.

  • Why fly the butcher's apron though?

    saor alba.

  • They dinna ken ony better

  • sounds and looks good. those kids in the drum line are a hoot. it's nice to see young faces coming up in pipe bands these days.

  • As am i. =)
