Oh, but what about eugenics? Well, it is for the most part, a fact. Breeding healthy members usually will result in a healthy or healthier offspring. We, humans, have the same mechanisms of genetics as other animals. So it is logical that it will work on us too. Darwin, if you all actually read his views on eugenics, acknowledged the benefits of eugenics but opposed mandating it because it would be inhumane. Rather he preferred that we educate ourselves about it and make our own decisions.

Contraception is good because it prevents unwanted pregnancy. Eugenics is good because it can be beneficial to a society that wishes to thrive. In many ways eugenics can be thought of in a similar way as medication. Both methods "cure" people or a society/community.

All medications are different just so you know. Some may help prolong life, others help alleviate pain or certain problems. So in other words, medication does not necessarily "save life" per se, rather it helps certain key areas. Eugenics does the same thing, it helps a society thrive.

Well, I don't know about that. My parents "created" me though. As for how conception and death is determined, well both of these are credited as natural explanations, not supernatural. Conception is when a successful sperm fertilizes the egg. Death happens when the body becomes too weak to sustain life anymore.

However, research on dogs shows that breeding can improve subtle characteristics like "the will to fetch a stick" or temperament, or the physical apperance. Evolution is a solid-as-a-rock theory that shows connection between different species. There are loads of new discoveries every year and the collected info so far fill entire libraries. Every piece fits right into the core theory of Evolution like a glove. Racial Biology to prove "inferior species" however, have never shown a working theory. It is and will remain an unproven pseudoscience used to justify racism.

What he did state was that black people were very physically skilled compared to other races-which was due to their constant physical lifestyles. I believe the only criticism Darwin made was when he talked about "savages", which he was referring to tribal type people that were barbaric. Oh, but what about eugenics? Well, it is for the most part, a fact. Breeding healthy members usually will result in a healthy or healthier offspring. We, humans, have the same mechanisms of genetics as other animals. So it is logical that it will work on us too. Darwin, if you all actually read his views on eugenics, acknowledged the benefits of eugenics but opposed mandating it because it would be inhumane. Rather he preferred that we educate ourselves about it and make our own decisions.

Contraception is good because it prevents unwanted pregnancy. Eugenics is good because it can be beneficial to a society that wishes to thrive. In many ways eugenics can be thought of in a similar way as medication. Both methods "cure" people or a society/community.

All medications are different just so you know. Some may help prolong life, others help alleviate pain or certain problems. So in other words, medication does not necessarily "save life" per se, rather it helps certain key areas. Eugenics does the same thing, it helps a society thrive.

Well, I don't know about that. My parents "created" me though. As for how conception and death is determined, well both of these are credited as natural explanations, not supernatural. Conception is when a successful sperm fertilizes the egg. Death happens when the body becomes too weak to sustain life anymore.

Darwin taught that life evolves to better adapt to its ever changing environment. He also taught that ALL life evolves at the same rate and that evoluton should not be diagramed as a ladder but a tree. He never suggested that other organisms, such as groups of humans, be killed for whatever reason. Hitler accepted "micro-evoution" (changes within species) but he opposed "macro-evolution" (all species being related). Conservative creationists accept "micro-evoluton" but NOT "macro-evolution" too.

Hitler being a proponent of Darwinism is correct, Allah is not the correct God. The reason the word Allah is used in Arabic Bibles is because most of those Bibles were made by Christians who are ignorant of the fact that Allah is a proper name for a pagan deity in ancient Arabia, and not simply the Arabic word for God. I didn't say he was really a Jew, I said that he was a Jew by Jewish (rabbinic) law.This is because he had a maternal relative who was Jewish. Nothing in the evolutionary theory says that humans should interfere with the evolution, by selecting breeders. However, research on dogs shows that breeding can improve subtle characteristics like "the will to fetch a stick" or temperament, or the physical apperance. It is suprizing how science can easily recognize this, and how evolution biology/psychology explains vast amounts of functions,but it is "politically uncorrect" to explain functions in humans this way.

By definition, eugenics prevents mutation and (therefore) the ongoing process of evolution.
Even when misapplied selectively, eugenic theory cancels itself out: In China, where viable female fetuses are often terminated by potential parents due to the 'one child per family' law (infanticide is common, too) there are many males from an entire generation who will not have the opportunity to reproduce.

The Catholic Church (kind of) apologized in the mid 1960s via the Second Vatican Council for its association with the Nazis. At the time, they still officially believed that Jews killed Christ, and their descendants were damned - this changed with the NOSTRA AETATE in 1964.

A better explanation for the Church's acceptance of Hitler might be that he was a democratically-elected political leader at a time when fascism was considered a valid political ideology. Anti-Semitism was so ingrained in Europe (and elsewhere) that Mein Kampf was not considered to be an indicator of his genocidal nature.

Hitler was never elected dumb ass. The Nazi party never got more than 37% of the vote. Hitler swindled his way into power getting himself named successor to the aging Hindenburg. When Hindenburg died Hitler assumed the post of Prime Minister and then declared Germany a one party state.

I am not sure we can so easily conclude that Eugenics is not part of the natural selection process. To exclude it you have to believe that human beings are anything more than brute beasts. In nature predators are a big part of the natural process. We pride ourselves on being above the brute beasts of the field but if you consider how humans treat each other that is little more than flattery.

There are elements common to both eugenics and evolutionary theory, but the film is implying that "Social Darwinism" and evolution are identical.
Part of the problem is that we are, according to evolution, the same as "beasts" - many religions take issue with this.

There is no relation between Nazi ideology and Darwin's theory of evolution. Evolution through natural selection is simply the differential survival of individual organisms due to heritable traits. Natural selection is the agent of change in evolution, not artificial selection by humans. It does not act on 'races' or even entire species but on individual organisms. There was no holocaust. The Red Cross says that the total dead in all German concentration camps was 271,301 mostly from typhus and some from starvation. There were no gas chambers.

The history and motives of the Nazi party was also a much more complicated machine than this movie is trying to show. The antisemetism for example came from Hitlers catholic indoctrination, Martin Luther's "On Jews and their Lies" and the Christian antisemetism (Look up Matthew 23). Then there was the weak economy and the need for revenge after the first world war.

Racial Biology is a complex science. There was many people adding their twist to it before the nazi, and they usually ended up disproving the entire theory and had to start over. Read up on Down-syndrome for example (Mongoloid). Even the nazi did their own version of the whole thing. Darwin and the Nazi have enough between them that it's like trying to blame the Wright Brothers for 9/11.

No. Racial science began with pathology, not Darwinism. Long before Darwin, pathology had ideas like using a ruler on someones body could tell you things about the person, like their intelligence and criminal intent. This science had ideas like "africans have thicker skulls to protect them from blows". Evolution was exploited by this science to yet again find another angle to prove why some races are inferior, but they couldnt. The nazi used their own twist on the idea.

Evolution is a solid-as-a-rock theory that shows connection between different species. There are loads of new discoveries every year and the collected info so far fill entire libraries. Every piece fits right into the core theory of Evolution like a glove. Racial Biology to prove "inferior species" however, have never shown a working theory. It is and will remain an unproven pseudoscience used to justify racism.

ChurchOfAtheism, how is your comment relevent to the film? To answer your question, the Popes have had diplomatic relations with many countries for about 2000 years. I am sure that history will show at least one mistake was made by a Pope, who is sinner just like you and I, with regards to proper diplomatic conduct toward a given nation. However, this does not disprove the dogmas of the faith and is a separate issue from the dogmas of the faith.
