  • pure genius ! let us hope there is more to come from the mastermind responsible for the incredible compositions and success of the left banke .

  • This song was written by Michael Brown, and sung by Steve Caro. Period. No one else was involved on this project.

  • Fantastic.... this song has that hard to describe 'magic'. Just beautiful.

  • I'd LOVE to hear the version with bass..as it is,..this is just phenomenal in my opinion,..so damn classic Left Banke soundin'..

  • THE FLORIDA SESSIONS

Written produced & arranged by Michael Brown. Recorded in Florida near Steve Martin-Caro's home in approx. (1999)

I added a bass line at Mike's studio later on. This version is just Steve, Mike on piano and a string section. (Mike & Steve recorded five songs during this time)

  • True Left Banke song recorded in 2002. I wonder who is doing the strings. Harry Lookofsky died in 1998. Whoever did the arrangement sounds like the old left Banke.

  • Sounds like Steve-Martin Caro still has that plaintive, clear young voice; even as the years have gone by, his voice seems to have, in fact, gotten better with time!

  • i agree classic left banke. where oh where is steve now :(

  • Great song. I'd love to hear more of these demos and early acetates by the band.

  • Great song. Would love to hear more of these demos.

  • Recorded in Tampa Florida sometime around 2002.

  • By the way, there were about 5 songs that were included in these Florida sessions.

  • I overdubbed bass on all of the Steve Martin-Caro sessions, I have these. The one that's featured here is the version before I put the bass on.

  • Mike Brown wrote this. Tom Finn, Mike Brown, Tom Finn and George Cameron are part of this project. The only variable was the guitarist on the Tampa sessions, which was Jimmy McAllister, who was on the Left Banke 1970s Strangers On A Train LP.

This track is Mike and Steve, yeah. Put a drum and bass on this and it would sound like a Banke track. Why don't they?

  • No, this is the Left Banke. It's new millennium, but pure Left Banke. Brilliant as always. Listen to this vocal! It's Steve!!!! Come one! This is the stuff!!

  • Aside from the first 2 lines of the verses being pretty much the same music as "Rhiannon" this is absolutely brilliant!

  • Thanks for the info Gary,..was unsure of Tom's involvement..

  • According to Tom Finn, this was recorded around 2000 in Florida, and Tom plays bass on it.
