@AsiDie888 Check out Katatonia's Brave Murder Day album. This entire band is basically that album being worshipped, but in such a way that it comes out at least as well if not better.
I feel so alone here, surrounded by useless punk wannabe bands and American Idol, then I listen to a great band like this and see that you guys like it too.
@snapper842002 Maybe this particular song has black metal influences, but if you look at say, The Shadows of the Past, the vocals are doom metal vocals.
wow, just fucking great! First time. I listen to them, sounds like Agalloch, but more oriented towards the heavy parts, are all songs from this band like that?
I've just posted this video on my own Death Metal website. I post new videos every day and have a huge collection of bands. If you're looking for new music to listen to, pay a visit!
Just Google "Death Metal Baboon" and you'll find it.
lol dude you better go look at the definition of doom. the difference between death and doom is the tempo and this is a high tempo song. second thing there is nothing atmospheric about this music. and third if these are not convincing enough go to metal archives and check the genre for them. they make melodic death/doom. This is melodic death
@kingleray88 No... The difference between Death and doom is not the tempo. Or at least not the only difference. Also, you tell me to go look at Metal Archives classification, which is still Melodic Death/Doom. Which is pretty much prooving my point that they are doom metal influenced at least. I know they are not straight down doom metal. And saying there is nothing atmospheric in their music is just retarded... If you could just try to listen to the rythms, you would know I'm right.
Dude it looks like you need to learn about the basics of metal music. First of all I suggest you to go to wikipedia and look for the short definition of doom metal at the top and scroll to the bottom to see what is black (or blackened doom). Doom means slow tempo. That is the most significant thing about it. I told u to look at metal-archives to show that the band makes death as well and this is one of their death style songs.
@kingleray88 The basics of metal? I know a lot of stuff on metal and I am not the only one classifying them as Atmospheric. Atmospheric metal is metal based on ambiances created by the music. Listen to the chords played right at the beginning of the track, you can clearly feel the doom influences and the atmospheric elements. You know? Heavy chords that the guitarist let's vibrate. Don't try to give me metal lessons. I know what doom metal is and if you can't recognize the doom influences..
Second I dont know if you also disagree with the black part but the vocals are high pitched so it is black (or blackened) influenced. And Third 'Atmospheric' has has nothing to do with rhythm of the song. I suggest you to google all of these music characteristics and see the facts yourself
@kingleray88 No, this is not black influenced, vocals have nothing to do with the genre. You will find high pitched screams in all genre of metal, even death. This is more like Agalloch influenced IMO. Also, whatever people will say over the internet, people have different opinions and I've seen some bands being classified as 10 different genres... by influences or whatever... This is still art, and art cannot be categorised so easily.
I agree that it is art but the most significant feature of black is the vocals; high pitch vocal (commonly called screams) is what makes a metal music black whereas low pitch vocals (called growls) are the features of death. This not opinion of someone this is a fact. BTW i am not saying this is black metal or something, but it is black influenced (or blackened) death. And you are right categorizing art is not so easy, yet significant characterstics such as tempo or vocals can be categorized
@kingleray88 Fact? I have a lot of friends on a beautiful forum on Newgrounds who would shit on these "facts". Vocals do not determine a genre, as you will find so screams and growls in both genres and even in other genres like Power Metal. A genre is determined by the kind of riffs played, general song structure and various other features in the music you should know about by now. As I Lay Dying are not Death Metal because they use growls you know.
Fuck the subgenres confuse me so much. LOL I have a good grasp on the simple ones, Death Metal, Power Metal, Black Metal, etc. But then you get Blackened Death Metal, Doom Metal, Sludge Metal, FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU- list continues forever.
I wish they could remaster their acoustic/clean parts with a better amp/pre-amp. I love their music, don't get me wrong. It's still great to listen to, but would sound so much better if they remastered some of their clean/acoustic parts.
To me, this band combines Katatonia opeth and agalloch. I really enjoy it, though, because I love all these bands and it just has a cool mood to it...
I would'nt go as far as saying that by a long stretch but it is great music. You would have to hear the whole 9 album discography by Opeth to judge that. Sure Watershed was one of their weaker albums but, Opeth are far more diverse, and their mellow parts are way better. I like Morningside but without Opeth and Katatonia, I dont think their music would sound the same. There is a deep inspiration from them 2 bands and it is really noticable. Plus Mikael has a better voice, and better riffs...
That is cool man but if I can suggest an album by OPETH get My Arms Your Hearse, or Still Life. It will blow you away. Like I said, Watershed is a poor excuse for an Opeth album compared to the older stuff. But "Burden" and "Hessian Peel" kicked ass on that album. I love GREEN CARNATION for Doom Metal....
nice band.. but am i the only one that thinks that this song reminds of Agalloch??
