  • So this perfectly INNOCENT man was just trying to get home when out of nowhere, he is assaulted by a yellow-jacket gestapo pig. The man (Ian) died just moments later. The police LIE and claim that protesters were throwing bottle and bricks at them. But ofcourse, this turns out to have been a bold-face LIE.

  • Would like to see this, but I don't watch videos with commercials.

  • the copper over reacted !

  • That's why you are told from a young age, not to walk with your hands in your pockets

  • To be fair, when you lot are having problems who do you call? Yeh, then you want the police there straight away and complain if they aren't there quick enough because they have to deal with protestors. The guy was clearly walking slowly in front of police to obstruct and antagonise them. Now! This doesn't mean that bowling the man over was the right course of action, but had the guy simply moved along promptly then nothing would have happened. its a high stress job remember.

  • @porntogo Even if he was "walking slowly in front of police to obstruct and antagonise them" that's no fucking reason to kill him, since when was being mildly obstructive a capital offence you berk

  • @G20meltdown agreed. its not a reason to kill him...put a gun to his head etc.....but give him a shuv? Maybe. i think we all agree the baton strike was well over the top, but a baton to the leg or a shuv out the way is not the same as killing a man on purpose...taking a gun to his head or an axe to his neck. In my eyes that cop had every right to push him out the way. Not to baton him though. But it turns out it was the push that killed him, not the baton. Not sure how I feel now. Just sad.

  • @porntogo

Harwood's action was an abusive over-reaction. There are much better ways to deal with someone 'walking slowly' rather than bashing them with truncheons and pushing them on to concrete floors. The police and the CPS wanted this brushed under the carpet but too many people had seen what happened, so they gave in and decided to prosecute Harwood... and they only did that to take the heat off them

  • And who do people turn to, to investigate why the Crown Prosicution Service tried to initially push this under the table? Why could Kier Starmer and his CPS not see what is quite obvious to all of us watching this footage? And if Kier Starmer and the CPS could not initially see this, is it because they are corrupt or incompetant?

  • Q: what's the difference with this copper and margaret thatcher blowing up the general belgrano in the fawklands when it's back was turned walking away from trouble ?

    A: none !

    All Coppers Are Bastards !

    lol

  • makes you wonder how much police get away with when theres no cameras about

  • @mrHIGHonLIFEman ian was hit in the back whilst walking away from police officers, the difference is that the uk riot police will kennel and trap people in alleyways to attemt to 'supress the protest' the protesters were not disobeying in the first place, the police have no excuse for the way they acted and behaved

  • The picture in the Daily Mail today of the PC Simon Harwood, the perpetrator of this awful offence against an innocent member of the public, just about sums up the British police force of today. His face shows an arrogant above the law expression which is so evident on many British police nowadays. I hope he is prosecuted and subsequently dismissed from the force with no pension. But he''ll probably end up with promotion like Cressida Dick

  • pigs

  • I don't understand how anybody can defend the officer, true he did know Ian would die as a result of the push. However the push was extremely unnecessary. Ian was even walking in the direction of the police, not even as part of a protest. The officer didn't mean to kill Ian. But if he stuck to the rules, he wouldn't have killed him.

  • o well! will tighten him

  • @mrHIGHonLIFEman ian was on his way home to see his family, he had nothing to do with the protest and the brittish riot police should be ashamed of themselves for all they do to supress the public

  • The case achieved notoriety when amateur video footage emerged which challenged the original version of events and showed an officer, later identified as PC Harwood, striking Mr Tomlinson with a baton before placing two hands on his back and pushing him to the floor.

  • heh_ÁNyÖñÉ_wÅÑñå_chãt_wÌth_më_Î_fÉél_sÓ_lØñÉlY_tÓDÃY

  • to be frank the protesters went about things completely the wrong way if they didn't want to receive aggression from police officers they should have obeyed the law and demonstrated peacefully. I don't condone the excess use of force here but people have to also realise that clearly the officers before they hit him where clearly telling him to move out of the area but carried on as if nothing was said

  • @beninator92

We did obey the law. I was held at the climate camp. I was not a protester then. I am now because of that day. There was no reason for the violent police response to a peaceful protest.

  • Murder. Plain and simple.

  • THIS MAN WAS NOT JAILED FOR WHAT HE DID TO IAN TOMLINSON!!!

    ITS A FUCKING TRAGEDY!!!

    WHERE IS THE FUCKING JUSTICE?!!!!!!

  • Harry Roberts Is our friend,

  • The police did not kill Ian tomlinson, the G20 protestors did, without the protest, he would still be alive. You scum.

  • @jammy764 He was hit over the head with a 2 foot expandable steel baton then shoved to the ground by the police. The incompetent Dr Patel who did the autopsy "missed" Ian's obvious head injury and stated he died "of natural causes". The IPCC (Independent Police Cover-up Comittee) is made up of police officers (!!!) and a "independent" member of the public (selected by the police!). Ian Tomlinson WAS murdered.

  • @jammy764

    you moron.

  • Why are the police above the law??? If I was to kill someone with one punch in self defence I would get a long custodial sentence.

  • Disgusting. I take it this old bill didn't face any charges of man slaughter or even gross misconduct? No. Of course he didn't. They look after their own, they wouldn't dare throw them to the slaughter. And you wonder why people like Roal Moat and other cop killers are so highly regarded and sung about at football matches?

  • Lets face facts here, 99.9% of people who are pushed over DO NOT DIE. No disrespect to the late Mr Tomlinson but it was his lifestyle that actually lead to his death and he was obviously close to it anyway. He was no doubt mouthing off to the police before the camera was filming that area and taking a long time to move on and he appeared to be intoxicated too. I'm not saying the Policeman was right. Just imagine Mr Tomlinson was from an ethnic minority, that Policeman would be hung out to dry..

  • @CasualObserver001 your making a lot of asumptions there..

  • PEACEFUL PROTEST THIS FRIDAY. EVEN THE GUARDIAN ISN'T LETTING IT BE KNOWN. USE THE GOOGLE PEOPLE. x

  • This so called policeman had been made to leave the m.e.t earlier due to a unsolved road rage indcedent , he then joined surrey police where he was questioned on a voilent attack then re-joins the m.e.t where he then commits murder a utter cover up jail him ,you or i would be sitting in cell just now for years if it was the other way around ,1,000 questionable deaths by police or in police custody in the last 50 years not one conviction speks for its self. peace and love people

  • the police are getting more and more immunity from prosecution and are getting more and more violent as we enter a police state in the near future

  • The man had his hands in his pockets and back to the police,he posed no threat.I saw a man killed .I then watched as the state washed its hands of any wrong doing. There but for the grace of God go us all, remember that.

  • PC Simon Harwood, the police office who struck Ian Tomlinson, has been suspended on full pay ever since and spends his time at his home in Carsholton Surrey where he lives with his wife Helen, a GP surgery manager.

  • @cujimmy92 Ha! That's good going for a guy that arguably killed a man. He's doing alright for himself by all accounts, which is more than I can say for the sorry bastard that was on the receiving end of this guy's unwarranted rage.

Where the fuck is the justice in that?

  • IPCC/CPS 11 months to reach a wrong conclusion, 2.02 minutes was all needed to reach mine. IPCC/CPS must not get youtube in there buildings?

when will this country wake up and say stop to all this cover up bullshit ?

and why must the police man be charge within 6 months when these things some times take years to reach conclusion? somthing stinks about all this...

  • Shocking, really shocking!! My message to everyone is the next time the police ask the the public for help, tell them to go fuck themselves!!!!!!! Welcome to Britain, its a police state........................................

  • they'll end up sacking the copper (i'd say 'Officer' but thats a word of respect) and he'll be given a golden handshake and a nice fat pension to enjoy in the sun

  • bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-10723274

  • Can't believe the policeman hasn't been charged. No doubt there will be a police officer arresting someone on the programme 'street wars' for doing something not even as bad as that

  • Murder, pure and simple. The TSG are Britain's modern day version of the Gestapo. Unaccountable and unidentifiable.

  • sickening.

  • wait, how did this kill him?

  • FUCK THE POLICE!

  • fuking scum fuk the law fuk you fuking arest me if u want cuntsssss

a wish we cud do tht and get away doin it to u idiots

  • @ryanceltic20092 20,000 cops in Britain 10,000,000 people feeling sick by this verdict! What the fuck are we waiting for?????????????????????????

  • fuking scum hate them fuck all police ever one of them are going to fucking die cunts

and any one thats thinks that the scum are good you cunts can fuck off

  • The officers did nothing -- well, aside from semi-expressing a look of bewilderment as this jackass officer pushed the man to the ground. For Pete's sake, even the German Shepherd looked a bit perplexed at this officer's bullish actions. The same German Shepherd's handler then starts fussing with its leads with his head down as if to show, "I didn't see anything." Those bastards!

  • Rest in Peace. No matter what the circumstances, no one deserves to die like this.

  • may 1st 2010 london

    election meltdown.

  • It's like Natasha Richardson's Ski Accident. You hit your head and don't immediately seek medical attention, you end up dead.

    This is MURDER.

  • that's fucking cheap man. hope that pig goes to prison.

  • MAny thanks Gordon and Tony .. for giving the undereducated police force powers they can't handle as individuals.. or collectively.

Still, you guys aren't likely to be walking home one night when you walk through a police gang after a bit of 'bovver' are you?

Sleep tight in your security guarded beds and ride safe in your limousines.

  • WHATS happened to that killer Cop? Is he and Ians family gonna see justice or is that Cop going to get away with it? The corporate mass media are keeping it quiet it seems.

  • WATCH THE SLO MO CAREFULLY - Looks like the supposed "push" was actually a very forceful, precisely executed, jab with the END of the baton that had just whacked his legs.

Such a blunt instrument strike is likely to cause internal bleeding & haemorrage... often fatal. Preferred over knives by many assassins because the killer's actions aren't immediately noticeable by bloodshed.

A trained officer would be aware of the dangers, so was it murder?

  • thats bad man god bles him

  • This video literaly makes me sick. I'm shaking. I cannot belive that this is something that happened in ENGLAND in the 21st Century. I'd be amazed if this happened in Iran, let alone London. Why? I was led to belive the police are there for our safety, not to attack civilians. Shame on you. I do not trust the police anymore. And never will.

  • Yeah how do the police feel that now they're being watched and filmed, that policman should go to jail, he had no right to use such force. MURDERER

  • police officers without they badge are just criminals

  • yep WHAT Happened to that Cop after? Is he paying for his crimes (murder) in prison yet? And why are the cops wearing Balaclavas?

  • A cop in new zealand was using his badge to get free sex and yeah he is now in jail so the cop that just killed someone should go to jail but yet in england it must be okay. cause everything is making london a safer place yeah right!

  • @gangstayoung1 Your generalization is representative of the kind of attitude that causes this very kind of tragedy. There are monsters and heros within all professions. Unforgivable however, that the only thing keeping this incident from being considered a reckless murder is a badge.

  • I guess the police aren't here to protect us any more, but to control us.

  • @Bladed0edge0razor and who pays the policemen ultimately ?

  • Funny, a bunch of vandals moan in chorus because a drunk prick gets pushed while clearly antagonizing the police.

Need a martyr that badly? Well here's Ian, the drunk and disorderly, he should fit the bill quite nicely.

  • Even if he WAS a drunk prick, that doesnt entitle the coppers to KILL him. Next time youre out boozing on a Friday night being a "drunk prick" you had better stay away from the police.

  • hmmmm he didnt seem drunk and disorderly, and certainly isnt breaking the law... mrikanti is probably a police cop that abuses his power... shame on you.

  • Fucking tosser. Antagonizing the police? Did you even watch the video. I don't usually get seriously pissed at people's comments, but you're just a wanker

  • So, when Mr. Cool loses his temper he also loses his vocabulary, punctuation and coherence, all at once...tough.

Get a life and a proper martyr.

  • Yet another day with

no word on the third post mortem

and no word on the fate of the cop involved

How very odd.... seems like a complete news blackout

  • The result of third post-mortem is that he died of an internal bleeding.you really have to hunt to find out that information .

  • Although You May Think This Is Bias Because Im A Millwall Fan But He Has Done Nothing To The Police. They Are Just Scum And Can Never Repay What They Have Done.

  • This ought to be a murder investigation.

  • @peteburke73 It cant be murder as it was premediated (it was very unlikely that the police officer was planning on delibratly killing the innocent, defensless man beforehand with malice afterthough), and I very much doubt it was intentional unless that specific officer knew of the mans healht problems and was not meaning to kill him.

However the officers action was very questionable and un-necessary, and he should be in some ways held accountable for the mans death.

  • what i mean is that it was NOT premediated.

  • @RusWehrmacht 'some ways held accountable'. There is no one that should be held accountable but him, surely?

  • @WeeDoG Allrgiht only the officer and the officer only should be held accountable,

  • @peteburke73 If you believe that then you obviously don't understand what murder actually is.

  • can someone tell me have i missed something

has the results from the third post mortem been released???

  • Nothing on the third post mortem yet. Its likely that if third pm had supported the defence (the copper) his legal team would have pushed for it to be published.

Ians funeral is tomorrow - 30th April, in private. RIP.

Also tomorrow - Met police Authority main meeting with Boris as Chair.

  • english policemen, want more trouble than they stop

look at notting hill carnival last year

everything goes well until police turn up hitting and arresting innocent people. these are people we pay to protect us. disgusting

  • In news from Britain, a London police officer is being questioned on suspicion of manslaughter following the death of a British man during the G20 protests. An autopsy has found Ian Tomlinson died from internal bleeding, not a heart attack. Tomlinson was a newspaper seller who got caught up in the middle of the G20 protest. Video has emerged showing a baton-wielding British police officer hitting Tomlinson and shoving him to the ground shortly before he collapsed and died.

  • doesent help none when you wear a milwall top and walk towards a police cordon, thats like saying bring it on....

also the polie could be justified as he was trying to protect tomlnson from the police dog

  • By whacking him on the leg with a baton!!!!! ??? you schmuck!

  • Just about the dumbest fucking comment i've ever read on youtube.....and thats saying something.

  • Where would we be in a world where some police officers consider themselves to be above their own law?

  • "Where would we be in a world where some police officers consider themselves to be above their own law?"

    The UK.

  • No, the New World Order...

  • @niftyswift It's ok if a copper kills one us of now and then is it? What if you or your wife or children were the next human sacrifice of this legal system. Would that still be ok? This system has failed and its guilty of the same things you accuse other systems of. Where would we be without Glorified tax collectors and politician's private armies? What were they doing there anyway protecting politicians from the people. Shouldn't it be the other way around? I thought it was a PUBLIC service.

  • @midianholic <bigtime psycho.

Hope you get some help before you hurt yourself or anyone else.

  • @TruthersAreRetarded Harwood has got away with it and Plod have closed ranks. Disgraceful and not really anything to do with you.

  • @niftyswift you have no idea what brittish riot police have been turned into do you

  • fuck the police

  • this is why they didnt want sky news to film them.

  • They've brought in laws to stop people filming the police. The other day I was tempted to film two members of our glorious constabulary parking illegally just so they could go and pick up their fish & chips, however I didn't feel like being arrested for it under the new "terror" laws.

  • Really? I thought in California we had it bad...

  • yeh but if u watch the video properly, ul see that it is an UNPROVOKED ATTACK, they could have asked him to move on, seeing as he was only on his way back from work!!!

  • the police here are fukkin tossposttts here comment if u agree?!!! this sort of thing is totally wrong!

  • check my channel for a video of a G20 police officer hitting a woman in the face with his hand then kneecapping her with his truncheon!

  • 6 o'clock news shows even more footage of police who'd illegally removed their ID's assaulting WOMEN

  • If you check the Guardian web site and put in IPCC to their search engine you will find several articles regarding the IPCC and their close friendship with the Fuzz (Police to you). Can anyone tell me when a police officer has ever been charges with killing let alone prosecuted and convicted. The answer all the way back to S Waldorf in the 70's the answer is never. The cops think they are the law rather than upholders of the law. Go to infideltv on u-tube

  • News is that the IPCC have now admitted their chairman Nick Hardwick was "wrong" (ie - lying) when he claimed there was no CCTV footage of this attack

  • Comment removed

  • Thug POLICE! Big Brother homos

  • Ha - just like on 7/7, all the CCTV cameras in London - the most CCTV -covered place on Earth - were not working, so no pictures at all of any of the alleged terrorists getting on or being in any tube trains, or walking through any tunnels or anything else! Maybe the same Israeli CCTV company that runs the underground CCTV system?

  • The cop took his police ID numbers off (which is a crime in itself) drew a balaclava over his face and attacked someone from behind, whacking him around the legs 3 times with a steel-core truncheon and sending him flying head-first onto the pavement

Then the IPCC claim that ALL the many CCTV cameras that overlook the scene weren't working on the one day they're MOST likely to have been checked and running...

    You do the math

  • After the attack protestors immediately came to help the victim, called 999 and offered police a mobile so they could speak to the ambulance controller - the police weren't interested and ignored the victim until he stopped breathing.

Then, after the cops called a 2nd ambulance, the ambulance was blocked 3 times by police lines. Ian Tomlinson was proclaimed dead on arrival at hospital, but he died on the pavement while the police stood around stroking their fucking truncheons

  • What did this demo achieve? Extensive coverage for anti-capitalist beliefs on every TV, satellite and on-line news channel and newspaper world-wide; with the police brutality turning a news item that would normally have lasted for just 1 day into one that has lasted for more than a week (but, believe me, I'd still much rather no-one had died)...

  • JUST A THOUGHT BUT ARE THE COPS GUILTY OF RIOTING?

    Section 1 - Riot

    (1) Where 12 or more persons who are present together use or threaten unlawful violence for a common purpose and the conduct of them (taken together) is such as would cause a person of reasonable firmness present at the scene to fear for his personal safety, each of the persons using unlawful violence for the common purpose is guilty of riot.

  • Wake up you tosser. The people who fought and died for our freedom in this country were all described as wasters, squatters, anarchists by the reactionary scum of their time.

The "once great country" you refer to was admired around the world for its fairness, democracy and tolerance - and these these things came from the Chartists, the Diggers and the Suffragettes, not scum like you. Why dont you fuck off back to Pinochets Chile where you belong?

  • You self-righteous prat. Of course people who attend demos tend to be those who are free to do so, as opposed to those who'd like to attend but can't get time off work; but, even then, get off your arse and GO on a demonstration and you'd realise the broad range of people who attend these events do not conform to the stereotypes suggested by the people news cameras focus on when they're reporting these things... who's "naive"?!

  • This was just plain wrong. It was simply bad aggressive policing when there really was no need. These policemen should try putting themselves in the shoes of the RUC during the worst of the rioting in NI during the Troubles, then they'll see just when reasonable force can be used.

  • no doubt carrying a camera in public and taking photos or film will become criminal offence before too long and people will be stopped from doing so on grounds of anti-terror laws or some other rashly thought out bit of legislation

  • Actually it's the middle classes who make the most calls to the Police. Don't forget, the Police force was never originally created to fight crime. It was created to protect the property and wealth of the rich. In 2009 the UK Police have morphed into a quasi military type organisation which is the Governments first line of attack should we not obey it's social laws. If we carried on disobeying, the army would be called in, we would then be shot or imprisoned. Free country! what free country?

  • This happens week in and week out up and down the country excessive force by a frustrated police force whos only answer to law and order is violence, it makes me sick when I hear people say we are lucky to live in a "free" country but look at the reaction when anyone wants to protest peaceful or otherwise, no one asked you to be the prime minister gordon he has taken power like some third world dictator let us decide.

  • First off these aren't "brain dead thugs", it would be easier to think that. These are specially trained thugs and not regular plod. All cctv was turned off for "maintenance" on the day of the protest - orders from high up. Gordon and his cronies have stopped listening to the public.

  • Why do these brain dead thugs come to a so called "peaceful" protest covering there faces, and giving lip to the police, the majority of the protesters are just there for the excitment and "buzz" of winding up the authorities. They smashed up the bank of england, can be seen hitting out at police with weapons, throwing items such as beer cans at police, just a big free for all riot for anyone who fancies a bit of "excitment" and a run in with the law. POLICE SHUD MAN UP N PUT A STOP TO DIS CRAP

  • why was the cop who attacked ian masked up and why did he have his numbers removed.

  • because I think it's a female officer, look at the slow motion part of the guardian video, I'm convinced he was a she

  • mmm you could be right...look at the chest and the legs...

  • kind of looks like the archetypical lesbo cops we get so much of nowadays.

  • My younger brother was outside the RBS on 1st April. He made his point peacefully and was not arrested, but from what he said, this was always going to be a one sided "battle", as much of the media called it.

As a point of interest, were any words exchanged between Ian Tomlinson and the copper before he hit him? To strike someone from behind for no reason is extreme, although not surprising judging by what happened throughout the day. If that was joe public, it's assault. What's their excuse?

  • Absolutely correct Silverthumper, Thatcher often called the ANC terrorists. Others posting on here , you can't possibly be so naive to believe that mainstream media show the whole picture? A good example the unprotected RBS building ,how anyone cannot see that as an absolute set up ,I'll never know. You can all pretend this is about "scum , smelly hippies and doleites" It is not ,you're just swallowing the lies. Lies that justify illegal wars ( for money) Really see the real issues here

  • Violent, vicious thug? Like hitting people with baton and throwing them to the floor??

Like shooting people in the face when there on their way to work

If you too want to get away with murder then join the met

GETTING AWAY WITH IT FOR YEARS

  • Comment removed

  • The 'blunder' by Police Official Bob Quick, gave the pretext to bring forward a raid that was planned for later on.

Bringing the raid forward assured that the main news headline would not be the amateur footage of the Police attack of Ian Tomlinson prior to his death at the protests.

The death which Police had previously blamed on protesters not allowing medics to give him attention.

The establishment must demonize protest at all costs! Elite rule is dependent on manufactured consent!

  • "to protect and serve"

  • The police DID do something wrong...they made a bad judgement! He appeared to be no threat. This officers should be better trained in analyzing threats vs. civilians.

  • This is the New World Order.......fuck the POLICE AND THE BANKERSN AND THE RELIGION, THIS IS THE REAL "PROBLEM"........ME CAGO EN DIOS !!!!!

  • Were those that started the French revolution "violent protesters" or political visionaries? What about the ANC's protests against Apartheid in South Africa? or the Poll Tax protests? Suffragettes? etc etc

Practically every civil right you have came from people protesting in one form or another. Even our right to protest. It is our right to protest when our Government refuses to listen as is clearly the case now. How much longer we have that right is anyones guess as the NWO doesn't do protest

  • Every case must be judged according to historical times and your analogies are incorrect and misleading. If you really think 'anarcho-insurrectionalists' have a winning strategy you're going to be deluded.

I suspect that you're thinking that I'm condemning the protests. I'm not, I've done my share of marches. I'm condemning the warry attitude of those who consider violence the only way to make themselves heard and think their protest won't be crushed with full public support. Poor strategy.

  • "Misleading"? How so? All cases quoted were popular uprisings against those in power who wanted to maintain their grip on power at the expense of the majority and in all those cases, the protesters won. We are fighting the same fight today only more so. Bearing in mind that our avenues of legitimate protest are being eradicated on a daily basis, what would you suggest? Positive action is a legitimate form of protest when the Govt refuses to listen as is clearly the case in the UK today.

  • Because you seem to believe that the French revolution was generated by a few 'positive' actors. But where do the bourgeoises belong these days?

It's like comparing Iraq to Vietnam forgetting that there's no longer the draft, and this difference is very significant. It would be long to explain each case but the key is always the same: public support, and how to win it to get more resources. Otherwise you'll be in the losing side along with unacceptable, absurd, unknowing victims like Tomlinson.

  • This is how police were behaving to many thousands of protesters that day. THey were striking people for nothing which is a crime. The IPCC still has not arrested the officers and questioned them. Jail them all!

  • I don't think you should have to follow any orders from anyone that does not have identifying police badges and numbers and their name. How do you know they are police and not hired security or a foreign military? I don't think the police should be allowed to cover their faces, either. I think the anonymity encourages the police to not care about their fellow citizens. Abolish the central banks and get back to sound money and much of our world problems would be gone instantly.

  • i agree with ya

  • I was a part of the G20 protest in the peaceful Climate Camp, and we were rushed by police, and beaten despite having our hands in the air chanting 'this is not a riot', I was brutally assaulted for NO reason, knocked out and was taken to hospital via ambulance just for sitting on the floor. People there were hurt for NO reason and so was poor Ian.

  • Why do you think it's okay for the police to push someone from behind? You need to read up on when and what force the police are allowed to use on citizens.

  • If the police "didn't do anything wrong" then their rules/your rules are clearly wrong.

Being a copper doesn't give you the right to do what you want, when you want. You are a servant of the law, not THE LAW.

  • "Mad"? - Yes

    "Genius"? - No

  • they killed this man 4 no fucking good reason which is very fucking sad!
