Fantastic selection, but I personally would have used the 2nd movement of the New World rather than the 4th. One of the greatest melodies ever written.
What I don't understand is how people can dislike this music. If you are clicking on a video that clearly contains classical music, and you're not a fan of classical music, then LOGICALLY, why would you bother to come? To dislike? I'm not one to raise an accusing finger, but I will say that this music is immaculate in itself, masterpieces written by extraordinary mortals in the past millenium. In my opinion, there isn't enough of this music in today's society, which is disappointing to me.
Great symphonies I agree with most of them but I'm not too sure about Beethoven's third symphony though I love most of his work, I also think there are other symphonies that were not included here and deserve to, 7th symphony from Dimitri Shostakovich so beautiful, due that his previous symphonic works were not that common and people always relate them to either sad or grotesque things just as Sergei Prokofiev works. And I WISH Paganini's violin concert # 2 wasn't just technically a symphony.
I didn't expect to see here Hector Berlioz or Antonin Dvorák, I mean they are so great but when I first saw it was just a list of 10, I though all would be distributed between Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert , Haydn and no-one else.
Attention everyone, on January 27 we will flood his Piano Concerto No.21 with comments respecting the great musician. i think listening to this music when studding for a test for school really helps. I memorize things in one day that normally would take me forever. Great selection :D
All of them are amazing, but I think that de Beethoven's seventh symphony is one of the best symphony ever made, mainly because of its second and fourth movements.
The one in the beginning I did not know what is what but it made me think of Little play things and trinkets and then I looked at the title and it was about toys! Now how can the music today do that?
Creative people have that special something... but more than you think.
They feel like everyone does. But they can take that feeling and translate it into art, so that when observed, the emotion comes back into the observer. Most of them are just pleasing. But the good ones-- those make you tilt your head and grin. Or cry. These symphonies are among the more powerful artworks.
Although I love Tchaikovsky's 4th, I feel his 6th is more deserving. No other symphony has an audience clapping after the culmination of the 3rd movement! Shostakovich's 5th deserves an honorary mention.
I absolutely adore classical music and have nothing but admiration and respect for those geniuses, BUT I don't think I could spend a night in an European castle with the image at 4:50 in one of the walls
First of all,its not listen the symphonies.. is learn who to write right the name of the artist. Like this Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky: Symphony 4. OMG this is very difficult to write!
In my opinion Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 35: I. Allegro moderato should be somewhere in there, but everyone has their own preference. Thank you for posting these great symphonies.
@Neongrapes ok..ive looked up a lot of your comments and you hate on Dvorak, Mahler, and several others and here you hate on them for the sake of the 20th century composers. 95% of people who listen to classical music are not "musical intellects" like you, and i use that term VERY loosely about you, they listen to it for enjoyment. you're the exact person i wanted to punch in the face when i was in music school, that extremely pompous, know it all attitude. you are the enemy to classical music
@steven4570 People like the way a lot of music sounds, it doesn't mean it's not derivative trash. My only point is that composers such as gustavus mahlerus and dvorsmak are minor, not great composers. These minor composers are indeed for the light listeners of the romantic period....i.e. the people with the emotional intelligence of kindergarteners. But, I'm just here to remind people of who the real artists are....the pioneers, the innovators, the ones with balls.
Thanks! I was searching for Mendelssohn's 4th symphony but I didn't remember the name / composer ^^; (I'm a "newbie" at classical music, heh), I had listened to it only once some time ago.
A nice selection, I would add (at least) Beethoven's 7th, Mendelssohn's 3rd (Scottish), Brahms's 1st for sure, Dvorak's 7th, Tchaikovsky's 6th (how can it be missed ?? ;-)
One of Sibelius (2nd ?) and Mahler's 3rd, pus Prokofief's "Classical" and I would not forget Shostakovich (5th ?) and Vaughan-Williams (A Sea Symphony).
My favourite symphony by Mozart is by a long shot No. 41, his last. It has been overshadowed by No. 40, but from the compositional perspective Mozart's genius is more evident in that work than any other. He makes masterful use of multiple themes and blends them in counterpoint, cumulating in a 5-part fugue in the fourth movement. I thoroughly recommend listening to it.
My favourites are ymphony No40 in G minor and the 5th symphony.Molte allegro.thogh I enjoy all Mozarts music and regard him as one of the genius of his times

Some people want young white females to mix with non-white males.
I made a one-minute video highlighting a very tiny sample of race-mixing advertisements.
I love white people, and I am opposed to race-mixing. But I do not hate non-whites.
If you click on my name “autumntree2011” highlighted in blue below this comment, you can watch my video.
