Also no offense I was about to say. He's not a very good wrestler if he can submit a Bjj guy. In my experience there the easiest! Wrestler no matter what type you learn. If you at least no free or folk style wresting. It will teach you how to keep slamming pressure on him and control him on the ground. Pinning arms and tieing down legs! Pressure Pressure!! Bjj and JJ dont really know how to do that. Good job tho! If only afew mnths practice!
no offense, but why isn't he pinning the guy to the mat. controllling him, than submitting him. at about 2 min he could of went for the choke. he is trying to put pressure on the bjj guy. too much. he is not giving the bjj guy space to move. so, he can set him up. one thing i learned in catch, stick him like a pig, but give them space to move, so you can set them up for a hook. indian death lock is hard to pull off when everything is happening fast. but, it ws there.
good insight. At this point we had only been working with Steve for a few months. Steve has a solid amateur wrestling background with 2 state titles but like any folkstyle/freestyle wrestler he had some difficulty adapting to submission wrestling. If u watch his later matches at Shoothook when he won the title there u can see him set his opponents up for some sweet neck cranks.
Interesting match...however, Steve's coach is shouting instructions , revealing Steve's next move! Sure his opponent is busy trying to listen to his own coach's directives, but Steve coach is telling everybody his positioning and next move! Kinda self defeating?
True but everytime I watch Ultimate Fighter I hear the same thing ie coaches screaming verbal instructions revealing what the next move is going to be.
no you're right it's amazing how often the opportunity for an Indian Deathlock presents itself in tournament. We just left the NAGA us open in Orlando. Our guys did alright but some stiff competition.
Nothing against Steve, I hope I didn't sound like that. The IDL is great manuver, but like anything you gotta drill it so its close to automatic, which can be tough, especialy for Catch Wrestling, a lot of the BJJ guys only want to drill what they do and finding someone to work on the same hold 50-100 times during a practice is not easy.
Absolutely true! He had his feet in the perfect position for the Indian deathlock all he had to do was lace his leg, push off his opponent's chest and sit up. We told Steve that after the match and Granimal was shouting for him to do it but Steve hadn't drilled the move enough.
good match looks like u guys def run a good gym..keep it up esp with the catch style

In every match I see this guy Steve in he's working the system to win by points and not trying for many subs.

Great matches. At 3:18 I would have driven that Indian Death Lock home and made that dude pulling half guard shit himself.
