  • Jesus, Mike! How many times did you snap your drumsticks recording this one?

  • This song is so godlike that an error occurred in the middle of the song

  • Frightened and Dazed..

  • @ 06:15, this is the type of guitar music that always brings tears to my eyes when I play, it's all from the heart, one with the instrument.....and I have have always loved how DT could switch up the beats into one whole song....and not make it sound like it was all fucked up...Rock On Patrucci!

  • My very first album by Dream Theater was Images and Words, and Loved them since...

and now at the age of 37, I thought they all but disappeared, still they play, kick ass more than ever....

  • @Orion13622 Images and Words is a masterpiece of music and a true showcase of technical virtuosity in all departments :) One of my favourite albums!

  • People who dont like Dream Theater just not enough intiligent to listen to 1/0.2655 petrucillion notes per second.

  • dream theater have the best album covers ever PERIOD!

  • me: dude check this song out its by dream theater!

friend: auugh i hate them dude..

police: so is head just fell off and caught fire....?

  • My dad said Dream Theater was a waste of time. So was the search for his body.

  • Foarte profund,minunat!

  • @grasaluci ai dreptate (y)

  • increible!

  • progressive metal.... the best definition I guess

  • Progressive music is always awesome pink floyd, tool, all epic

  • I LOVE 5:30 ! I love the way the notes ring.. just.. ugh. *orgasm*

  • 666 999 views Hell yeah

  • 666,000 views, nice.

  • I really do like the blastbeats near the end. It's good that Dream Theater is trying to do something new there at the time and in this song the blastbeats fit perfectly. Awesome!

  • 17 Minutes of heavy metal? Why can't every metal band play for that long?

  • Am I the only one who thinks Dream Theater was way better back in the 90's?

  • @MrDamieru

In my opinion they were, well...but i dont like the new dream theate album either ^^". Scenes from a memory, images and words and awake (my favourite) are the albums when dream theater were the gods of prog.

  • @Line480

    Agreed! ^^

  • thumbs up if you cant see the dislike bar :D

  • Look at the DISLIKE bar. It's invisible !!!! lol

  • THEE most BRUTAL song on that cd!

  • What a fucking wicked song

  • This is orgasms converted into soundwaves.

  • If I ever got betrayed, I'd want this music to play in the background.

  • @BorrahAlive Then you gonna kill the guy that betrayed you... am i right? xD

  • First

    -Dream Theater

    -Metallica

    -Badass music

    -Good music

    -Generic Pop

    -Justin Bieber

  • @slim58769 where the fuck did metallica come from??

  • @slim58769 You missed like 200 difficulty levels between Generic Pop and JB

  • It takes true genius to write 4:57 to 8:35. It takes 2 minutes behind a mixing board to write a shit pop song

  • atrocious lyrics ruin an otherwise good song

  • this is the only song ever written... the rest just wan`t to be this song...

  • i somehow ignored that song for a long time. i have no idea why i did that.

  • I love bands like this that aren't afraid to go outside the usual overused natural minor zone. A well done song in every way.

  • This song is so beautiful. Not just from the lyrics, the story behind it, but the actual music its self.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!

  • THE ALL SEEING EYE ON THE PAINTING !

  • @thesteroids01 Yes, watch MrDreamTheater2's recently posted vid "Dream Theater Illuminati Shills." We are members of the Illuminati, and also shapeshifting Reptoids. I personally witnessed Petrucci's penis shift from 4 inches to 6.5.

  • @MlKEPORNTOY your suck a fucking cunt. You have nothing in your life do you. Just gonna carry on flagging your channel.

  • @MrGamerBazer Translation: I'm insecure so I'm going to try and censor anyone whose opinions I disagree with.

  • @MlKEPORNTOY Real Translation: I have nothing againts other with different opinions. But i fucking hate trolls and idiot who portray themselves as being someone who they are not just to get attention they never got from mommy and daddy.

Will be flagging again tomorrow :)

  • When the Bathing in Beautiful Agony part comes, it's just completely beautiful.

The rest is equally beautiful, in a gutteral sort of metal, headbanging way. \m/ fucking go DT

  • Across the nightmare

  • I know not everybody likes dirty death metal type vocals but I think mike's rough vocal part would have been perfect if he did at least a bit of a guttural type growl then a medium high growl, RAAAAAAGGGHHHH instead of the OOUUUUUUUUUU to end it all, that's just my opinion though,

  • This is not music to my ears. Music is nowhere near as good as this.

  • When I first listened to Dream Theater:

    "Hmmm yeah they're alright."

    Me one week later:

"...NOW IM NOT ONE TO SOON FORGET AND I BET I NEVER WILLLLLL! WAHHH WAHHH DODO DODO (etc.)"

    They're amazing :P

  • @awesometaco12 ...first time i heard them... i practically grew up with it... "whoa... :O what is this beautiful music to my ears :O" now its like... *head bangs* etc... they change alot :) i love their classics

  • @awesometaco12 totaly true lol! :D :D

  • bastante bien los chicos! jaja son unas BESTIAS estos chavones, te sacan la inspiracion de querer aspirar a algo! jaja que buena musica!

  • 11min19seg = the best bit!

  • I can't quite understand why a lot of people hated this album. It has so many great songs on the album. The Count of Tuscany is my personal favorite from it but the whole album is amazing. I swear every other day I read someone saying how terrible the album was but i just don't hear anything bad on it.

  • Their album art immensely describes this song and helps me picture it. Beautiful :)

  • I love how long these songs are! Perfect.

  • what da fuck with the triangle and eye... now dream theater are illuminati? for fuck sake ¬¬

  • @alanpastor90 It's just album art, dude...get over yourself.

  • @KaitRaymond hahaha

  • Addicted to this song .

Excelent musical quality and excelent lyrics and instrumentals..

  • kinda sounds like megadeth

  • @SAOAFR errr, correction, megadeth sounds like this.

  • @Fraanco77

    How do you get that?

  • @LiquidOce1ot what?

  • @Fraanco77

Why does Megadeth sound like Dream Theater as opposed to the other way round.

  • The beginning sounds black metal fuck this song is badass

  • Ever had a eargasam?...... no well keep listening till you do

  • I just got into a bike wreak and fucked up my right arm. i have this on right now in the waiting room at the hospital.

  • John Petrucci's playing never ceases to amaze me

  • Damn that kid has a cool room.

  • Except for Portnoy's shitty growls, this is an orgasmic song.

  • 06:37-07-17 is simply amazing. I don't know what to add, it's ineffable.

  • @MichaelsPortraits Dream Theater's music is extremely complex and genuis, that's why it seems boring the first listen, you need to be patient with DT, they take multiple listens until you can really appreciate them, why don't you open your mind a little bit?

  • @MetvsBodom That run-on sentence is killing me. XP I agree with the message you're conveying, though.

  • @MetvsBodom boring? where do you see it´s boring? the first time I listened to them I did already love them!

  • @fenderhardrocker I said it seems boring sometimes because of how technical it is. I find after a few listens it becomes really catchy

  • @MetvsBodom "Extremely complex" is a bit of a stretch.

  • @Maddolis Compared and contrasted to and against most modern music ... not really, probably an understatement.

  • @StevenAn2322 You can't fairly assume that top 40 makes up for "most modern music."

In the whole spectrum of music, DT at their most complex is still fairly midground to slightly complex, it's just that the majority of music you're bombarded with through television and the most popular radio stations is simple generic top 40 stuff.

  • @Maddolis dance of eternity deserves this term without any doubt. ok, blotted science is still another pair of shoes, but in terms of time signature stuff dt is very complex. and technically it's hard as fuck too.

  • @givemeajackson Sure it's not easy. I suppose in the context of a typical youtube video, it is fairly difficult- but in the broad spectrum of things there are other pieces that put pieces like that to shame on a technical level. Arguing over the technicality of a piece is completely unnecessary and pointless at any rate, it's the songwriting that matters.

  • @MetvsBodom i had a boner from the start

  • @MetvsBodom i disagree... first time i heard DT i fell in love instantly... it took me multiple listens only to realise the extreme amount of genius in dt

  • @InfamousPillarKid Agreed. I liked it IMMEDIATELY. For me, the more I hear, the more I fall in love with them. They're just f---ing amazing - GENIUS!

  • @MetvsBodom for me i really enjoyed this song first but i agree that its really complex and takes u through as story kinda :D

  • @MetvsBodom I CAN ATTEST TO THIS. First song from them I hear was "These Walls". My thought was "meh". Then I fell asleep and it played. Now it sounds awesome. Most music goes the other way around.

  • @MetvsBodom yeah you rght! xD

  • @MetvsBodom Eh, taste has a lot to do with it. DT is one of those acquired tastes. The first time I listened to this song it was the farthest thing from 'boring'. The bit at 4:56 especially, just awesome. The lyrics are bit iffy but the music itself is, bluntly put, some of the best shit you'll ever hear. If a song is really great, one listen should be all it takes. DT's music is complex though, and true appreciation does come from really listening to every little detail.

  • @MichaelsPortraits Are you kidding? Dream Theater is probably the BEST band as far as writing for instruments. It takes so much talent to write something like this. You are probably another A7X fanboy coming over here to try to redeem the crap that was the Nightmare album. And no orgasm in this horrid crap? What a failure.

  • @matter375 Does A7X stand for avenged sevenfold ,If it does I am not terribly familiar with their music , actually I listen to stuff you and other DT fans would probably laugh at like Hendrix and Zeppellin....I'm way more into feel and emotion ...before I listend to this DT song I was watching RHCP under the bridge and it was chilling beautiful.....I hear nothing in this music that touches me !

  • @MichaelsPortraits I take offence to the generalization that DT fans laugh at those guys. I don't listen to them often, but Hendrix and Zeppelin are both great artists. I've found, in my experience, that DT is a love it or hate it band, so there's nothing wrong with disliking them or not finding them interesting, despite what my fellow fan is saying. Let's all just say that musical taste is subjective, end this argument, and enjoy whatever music we individually prefer.

  • @jurnag12 very well put Jurnag .....maybe I am being too much of an asshole , Some of it is do to the fact that I have two friends that are obsessed with DT and I am subjected to the music mercilessly without end!

  • @MichaelsPortraits The answer to that is rather easy: hide some sort of boombox/speaker/radio in their room, and rig it to play some good ol' classic rock at around 3 in the morning.

  • @jurnag12 Ooh ,how I would hate to be your enemy sir , thats exactly what I will fucking do ! ..Nothing like 'Black Dog' at a hundred watts just while comfortably in REM sleep!

  • @MichaelsPortraits Or just the vocal track from Immigrant Song. All is well at night, peaceful adn still.......and then Plan starts wailing like a Banshee.

  • @MichaelsPortraits And yes, A7X stands for Avenged Sevenfold. A=Avenged, 7X=Seven times=Sevenfold

  • @MichaelsPortraits Are you fucking serious?

  • @MichaelsPortraits the world is laughing at you right now

  • @WarwickBass94 No warwick ....the world was laughing at me when I left a post that Justin Beiber was a talentless asshole....since the world loves him..............Dream theater is a fairly cultish band by comparison that caters to people that have no interest in emotion or feeling in music ..Dream theater- Just play repetetive Minor scales over and over as fast as possible and dont make any mistakes because thats all DT's fans are listening for...period ..end of fucking story

  • @MichaelsPortraits Dream Theater is repetitive in the way that Daft Punk are original, or in the way that Charlie Sheen is a visionary.

  • @MichaelsPortraits Your description of Dream Theater is almost completely opposite of what Dream Theater's music is like. Are you sure you weren't listening to Kanye West?

Also, Justin Bieber is neither talentless nor an asshole. Just because his agents are unfeeling bigshots and his fanbase are airheads doesn't mean he's a talentless asshole.

  • @TheReaverOfDarkness ...LOL ...reaver I give up sir , I have miraculously found a couple DT songs I really like , And there probably isnt anything more repulsive to me on the planet that Kanye West and I am utterly amazed that you somehow knew that ...you must have some kind of extra sensory ability!....I love with your screen name by the way

  • @MichaelsPortraits Thank you! Also I didn't know that you specifically hate Kanye West, it's just a generally accepted trend that anyone who has any reasonable taste in music can immediately see his pretentiousness for what it is.

You don't have to like DT but if you have any intellectual honestly, you cannot claim that they are repetitious or unfeeling. Their music is very dark and dramatic, and that might definitely be out of your taste range but it is an art that has a strong flavour.

  • @WarwickBass94 It turns out after getting in this big argument over DT and him pissing me off, I come to find out that Warwick is a monster bass player with a really cool band causing major damage in the greater Washington area...check them out

  • @MichaelsPortraits You've got to be kidding me. I'm a Led Zep fan (I believe they're the greatest rock band in the history of music) and also have a great deal of respect for Hendrix. If you like organized, professional music, you'll love Dream Theater. Just listen to a few of their masterpieces (Metropolis 1, Under a Glass Moon, Dark Eternal Night, The count of Tuscany, Shattered Fortress, Honor Thy Father, ). I promise you you'll be amazed by their talent and skills.

  • @MichaelsPortraits dude, obvious troll, give up now.

  • It's not faith or religion that keeps us dreaming and hoping ...

    It's Dream Theater ...

  • this is dream theater

  • is that the door that's opening up to the picture on album dramatic turn? and that little boy turns into a unicycle circus performer that almost got hit by a plane? but the plane cut the rope and he was all like "levitation bitch!!!"

  • one m0:00re fucking time people!!!!!

  • i can't believe this song is real, i listened this album and never awaked

  • Dream Theater makes the best music you can possibly listen to.

  • my comment. which is apparently very liked... was simiply a joke not to be taken seriously.

  • @MlKEPORNTOY hahahaha :D

  • Oh damn, i had to sign in to write a comment and i forgot where i was in the vid so i guess ill have to start it again

  • the riff at 12:39 sounds a little like walk

  • one of my favorite songs of DT, did you see the concert in Chile, South america? the crowd is fucking amazing dude!

  • The beginning reminds me of Nightmare by Avenged Sevenfold. i kinda think A7X got inspired for the beginning of Nightmare from this song.

  • @troyA7Xdavis85 well they did use mike portnoy for that song so there's a possibility they used an opining like this one just changed it a little

  • @fuzzfire Nightmare was 100% wrote before Mike Portnoy came to Avenged Sevenfold so its highly unlikely that he influenced Nightmare.

  • Comment removed

  • The emotional part reminds me of type o negative.

  • 39 people don't know the meaning of life

  • \m/ (>.<) \m/

  • when i listen to dream theater am i the only ones who kind of likes the not singing parts better

  • @pizzahead888 *Instrumental sections. And most musicians (not singers) probably listen to DT for most of that anyway. I love every part of every song, I just prefer the instrumental sections.

  • @pizzahead888 Yes, you are the only one cause Labrie's singing is terrific.

  • Comment removed

  • After so much adrenaline building up metal, that riff from 6:15 was pure bliss

  • Wow... i'm listening this song now on Spotify, youtube AND MEDIAPLAYER AT THE SAME TIME! GODDAMN SOUNDS LIKE MESSAGE FROM SATAN

  • @Tuutti11 How synched were they?

  • @Brok3nC4rrot Not at all :D

  • Yyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh \m/

  • I really don't understand why people dislike.... I mean really.

  • So, my brother got in a car accident last year. His friend said he was gonna bring him this album, but he decided not to, since the first song was a 16 minute song about a car accident. Too soon? lol

  • as much as i hate admitting to having watched the new drummer documentary, Derek Roddy's blasts sound soooooooooo much better than mike's (portnoy, that is)

  • amazing song but portnoy ruined it with his vocals

  • @theturkishgamer1 what have you been smoking now?!

  • @T1M3x007

well where he goes "DAY AFTER DAY AND NIGHT AFTER NIGHT..." kinda didnt fit the song.imo at least.

  • i'd say more like Justin Bieber's vagina. you can't see it. but you know it's there

  • @seabreez21 go fuck yourself fuck you.

go home, drink bleach and die.

  • @KeysOfMyMind jesus, calm down.
