And we are not stuck up, rich people.. more than two thirds of OB residents have inherited a family house or lived there their whole lives. We then have weekenders and share houses full of sloppy LI people who ruin our community. There is also statisically higher real estate prices and a higher concentration of wealth in Fair Harbor, Kismet, and Saltaire.Try coming to our town on a weekday and spending time with the actual locals. Or just never come back, that works just as well.
Also, you are allowed to drink and eat food as well as ice cream on the main roads and through town. You are just not allowed to drink from an open container, so you are allowed anything in a bottle except alcohol of course. Same goes for on the beaches. The reason the cops had to change the ferry entrance is because the long lines down that street would flood into town causing traffic jams and probably be another thing people like you would complain about.
Again watching your video makes me sick. Number one, it is not your RIGHT to be allowed into a private community..just because we are a free country does not give you the right to do whatever you want. Two, OB has so many rules because of all the tourists who come out to invade our island. Notice how you just cant bike ride on weekends? Because thats when all the weekenders come out and our laws are to protect people like you because there would be accidents with so much foot and bike traffic.
Look up the word "banal" in the dictionary and you'll find this video. Nice idea. Too bad the videographer has nothing of interest or insight to say -- other than repeatedly telling us "nice poins here" -- and it sounds like he's walking on clodhoppers.
Those rules are soooooo ridiculous. No radios on the beach? No bike riding on the weekends? That is so stupid. For what purpose? No beverages on residential walks? What about water? Jeez. That is so incredibly stupid. The cops there beat a guy for no reason? That's scary crap right there, man.
i ;ive in point o woods you all are bunch of babies if you want to come into my town go ahead i will throw you out it is a privately owned town so stay out or i will throw you out
To have a sign that says," no public access to beach" is ridiculous. Your tax dollars support the upkeep of these beaches and lakes. As long as a person is being respectful, why can't you walk anywhere you want along the water's edge?
Exactly. Many of these people who dont want outsiders in their towns (like East Hills and PoinT O Woods) have no problem using illegal aliens for work on their property. These are the ultimate snobs, and I wish the govt would throw the book at them.
I have often thought about moving to New York one day, but I don't think I would move to Long Island. If a lot of snobby rich people live there and have signs all over the place barring entrance to public lands, parks and preserves because the uppity people don't want to share, then I wouldn't be very happy there. I don't know how you go through this everyday
Well there are the pine barrens which doesn't have that problem. Generally you have to go where uppity rich ppl dont want to go, like the pine barrens. But they've taken over the beaches. FI has become a little bit too much like the Hamptons in some ways.
It aint easy going through it, plus everyone shuns me 'cause I aint uppity.

It's the East Hills of Fire Island. Be sure to watch my latest videos on East Hills Park.

Ocean Beach Fire Department covers Ocean Beach and Seaview for Fire, and Ocean Beach, Seaview, Ocean Bay Park, and Point O' Woods for EMS.
