as you all don't know the Speaker on the ds itself has a hidden magnet. If you try the magnet on the speakers on this DS it wuld react and depending on which side your using (N or S) it would react differently this is the reason the speakers of the ds a situated to line up with buttons when closed. Waddya know you juse learnt somethign! (mayb)

Explanation (My Theory):

Know how when the DS closes, it short of "seals" itself? That' because there ARE magnets between those two layers. My theory is that when they touch, the DS goes into sleep mode. And whadya know, there you have another magnet already. Put that magnet on, and it shuts off. Perhaps it doesn't matter what or where the magnet is, it will go into sleep mode. Am I right?

actually, not the ds! the ds uses magnets to know when the screen is closed. normally, it uses the very powerful magnets of the speakers, but you can use other magnets.

@DiamondPhoenix000 actually no. The ds uses a magnet to put itself into sleep mode. there is a magnetic detector in the circuitboard. speakers are magnetic. when you close the lid, the magnetism from the speakers is picked up by the detector, which puts the ds in sleep mode.

I know, i took the speakers out of my ds and when you close it, it doesnt go to sleep.
