As an english girl, who loves the west end and has only discovered rent a few weeks ago, i am shocked that they did this to rent! They shouldnt have changed the songs and made all the actors speak in their own accents! i know it carries a universal message but in my opinion it should be left in american accents and the songs should be kept the same because they are so beautiful! it just seems to be change for changes sake!

@JazzDalek1 I agree. I live in the US and have played Angel in a production of Rent. I think that this remixed production stripped Rent of everything that made it unique.

Angel should have been left a drag queen because it somehow confides the plot line: The original keeps it ambiguous that they treat her like an actual woman.
