  • What are those sticks that guy is using?

  • Great job u pple at the elephant sanctuary. Its u all dis kind soul that had given dis big buddies a second chance to live with pride n dignity, a second chance to be loved cared for, n mayb a final chance in their life to live freely towards their own nature. Big big thanks you all n hurray for billie, was touching to see him trust n lift his leg letting u cut that chain that had once brought misery n hurt to him.

  • Yay!! I have been to the circus once when I was a little girl. It was a small town so getting to the back and seeing the animals was easy to do. It was also something I will never ever forget, and the very reason I chose not to go back to the circus again. Though the animals looked well cared for, it broke my heart to see the elephants chained up, and to see the tigers in cages so small they could not barely stand up or turn around. What you guys do with the Sanctuary is an amazing.

  • For a moment, when she had the chain in her trunk, I thought she would put her foot over the other end and snap it in two. That would have been poetic justice for being chained all those years.

  • tears and more tears. good for Billie! pass the treats!

  • This was a big step for her. I shudder to think of what would happen to these lovely creatures if the ES wasn't around.

  • I can't stop watching this video. . . way to go Billie!

  • This is an important milestone for Billie and I'm so happy for her that she is finally with humans who understand her and care about her. I love that she held the chain. If she could, I'm sure she would mail it back to the Hawthorne Corporation.

  • Ah, Sweetheart. Good Girl!

  • I'm so happy for Billie!

  • You go Billie girl! No more shackles for you sweetheart.

Just goes to show what some love, kindness and respect can do.

Thank you TES for everything you do for these beautiful ladies. Most of all, many many thanks for allowing us the privilege of being part of these girls' lives.

  • You go gurl :)

  • How wonderful! Lump in my throat and tears of gratitude to you lovely people who do such marvellous work with these incredible fellow-creatures. Well Done!

  • aw that's awwwwwwwwwwwsome!

  • Whats with the masks? Was she sick? Afraid to get her sick?

  • @mjzapjr Billie resides in the Phase 1 Yard where her friend Lizzie is undergoing treatment for TB. So all Caregivers in this area routinely wear Tyvek coveralls and masks for protection.

  • @elephantsanctuarytn doesn't that make billie vulnerable to TB?

  • @ZeBeFruity Elephants are only vulnerable to infection from TB if another elephant is actively shedding the bacteria. Liz is not shedding.

  • @elephantsanctuarytn Thanks for the answer. I was wondering the same thing.... and YEAH BILLIE!

  • An amazing video and a wonderful moment!! Thank you for all the hard work you do in rescuing formerly imprisoned elephants!

  • WONDERFUL!! Free at last Billie

  • Good luck and continued success for this wonderful charity giving these beautiful animals a chance at a decent life. God bless you all. Art in Vero Beach.

  • (made my day-Jen Appleseed) - mine too Jen - what we have done in our ignorance to each other and our animal companions on this planet as we all hurdle through space together is truly the definition of unenlightened.

  • What an amazing moment!!!!

  • :) What a beautiful moment to capture on video. Bless you for all the effort you put into her training so she could finally get that thing off her ankle.

  • freedom behind baaaaaaaars
