OWS is leftist? Really? The idea that ows-people are hippie/hipster, ipad carrying pseudo bolshevik youth, is mostly a myth perpetrated by the media. The crowd is as diverse as the society that created it.
When protesters criticize the 1%, it's not out of marxist zeal, but because the 1% are greedy douches who ruin our civilisation.
I think that this is the clearest, most succinct and realist view of the current state of the OWS. It is well worth heeding. This video articulated what I believe is absolutely true and necessary for people - the 99% - to know if we have a hope of succeeding. There is such a thing as being TOO inclusive. It is impossible to accommodate everyone on every issue. It is much more realistic to pick fewer issues that profoundly affect many people. Then fight like the dickens to solve these issues.
OccupyMaine truly needs to watch this video to learn a thing or two! The weathered signs "We are the 99%" are not enough! To promote change, one cannot go stale.

As soon as "we" narrow the focus of this group we will be hijacked into the "love em, hate em" polarized drama of mainstream media. We will be marginalized and dismissed. I agree with the thesis of this video. I agree with the central demands. The only thing I would do is expand #2: take all private $ out of election campaigns. Public funding only. Even non-corporate $ is vastly mis-distributed, allowing the rich a greater influence on politics. As a politician myself, I would like to represent ALL the people. Private funding of campaigns is legalized bribary.
How bout making it yet simpler... why not make it about "corruption" ? everything we have on the list to complain about can be traced the the sad fact that WE have become corrupt.
Aside from the eye-catching title, I am not hearing stormcloudsgathering saying that OWS is going to certainly fail. I hear him laying out how it can guarantee success by focusing it's message to TRULY appeal to the 99% of us affected by our ineffective and corrupt government.
Evolution is necessary to overcome adversity. The winter is upon us and the major sites have been evicted. It's time to thrive no just survive! Our country is hungry for ANSWERS.
I am divided on this. I agree that the message must be short and clear to maintain a larger appeal. Reduce it down to getting money out of politics. A more level democratic playing field allows all other considerations begin to become possible.
My biggest disagreement is that OWS will fail. It will evolve. If there is a seamless transition from OWS to OWS 2.0, et al, it will still be the movement. Longevity is guaranteed IF like-minded groups and movements form now.

What if we dont get another chance bro? What if OWS fails like you say and that anger you talk of is still here. BUT NO MOVEMENT ARISES? You know the NDAA passed right? So what happens if that affects the next movement. What if that thwarts any IDEA of action?
