  • i hear this tune i get shivers down my spine , i'm irish and love everything that is. do you realise the man that owns jacobs put hundreds of irish men and women on the dole, just so he could have more profit by sorce-ing once irish made biscuits to england , shame on you i say, how can an irish man take the food from irish mouths and justify it by saying its good business, he's a traitor to everything that our flag represents. remember jacobs 1916, there are many will never forget, but he did

    Children's song

    Wecha Wecha Wailia (Spelling varies)

    Gaelic words and pronunciation.

Versions by most combinations of the Dubliners, Aslo Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem.

  • Ronnie - you are not just a colorful singer but also a colorful storyteller! We shall miss you - RIP.

  • What is the name of that song?

  • Wheelie Wwelia, I think.

  • weila weile weila

  • It is weila waila

  • RIP ronnie

    ur a legend

  • kaizer316 you´re so right. i saw the whole late late show on vhstape and i laughed till the tears came to my eyes.

Miss him so much...shine on, Ronnie!♥♪♫☼

  • did someone tape it or where did you see it? rté archives dont go back that far on the website..

  • Gay Byrne was a pushy bastard :) Glad he did though!

  • thats not pushy

  • Ahhh Ronnie! One in a million RIP.

  • Nobody tells a story like ronnie RIP

  • When you have Luke Kelly and Ronnie Drew in your band then you know you have the best band.

  • aint that the truth

  • and Ciaran, Barney & John jesus what a line up !

  • Wonderful video, how did you get it ?

  • well querty thats ur opnion and ur entitled to it we never heard the Clancys at our house

  • great beards great guys n great characters RIP Ronnie ur legacy like Luke and Ciarans lives on

  • querty, lyrics? they sing the same songs much of the time, trad Irish, methinks ur talking out that fundamental orrifice u sit upon qwerty, all the same, have a great day and UP THE DUBS a great Irish band that will never die!

  • Well i never said I didnt like the Dubs I just said that they werent as good as the Clancys. Their music is actually Irish Folk Music, which is by far the best music available...

  • Ronnie and the dubliners hadn't a patch on the clancy's and never will. There are bands in pubs through out the world doing the same if not better than the dubliners... But there are none like the clancys... The clancy bros were a league all to their own, harmonys and power of lyrics that dubliners olny dreamt of.

  • You talk about power of lyrics, which I find a bit strange because they sing a LOT of the same songs.

  • TAKE YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS, they're all legends, you cant degrade dubliners like that

  • Oh come on you are surely at the wind up , ill give you The Clancys music is top quality but to slander the Dubliners shame on you

  • You are a fucking idiot. Nice way to be a fan boy well spiting on the dead. I hope you see this and find a nice big cliff and take a dive into the rocks.

  • I'm more in favour of telling the truth about people when they are gone rather than lying. What I said is true... But if you want I can pretend to like the Dubliners. Same result at the end of the day Clancy's were, and always will be a better band. Now have a cup of tea, or you'll be up there with him you seem stressed!

  • qwerty ur a fud and talkin shoite..they were both as good in theyre own ways....clancys had it vocally...dubs had the musicians(apart from makem..who was the man that made them tick)..be some feckin super folk group up ther wen they all get together

  • ignorant post

    Different bands

    Different audiences

Great contribution to our culture and our contribution to folk music and the world of the arts

    Great ambassadors for Ireland

    Interesting characters

    Rest in piece

    Tommy,Tommy,Paddy,Ciaran,Luke and Ronnie

    damn we miss you fellas

  • Good point. Like comparing apples and onions; One polished and very sweet, the other rough and sharp.

The Clancy's were your mom's Irish group that she spun on the 33.

The Dubs who were who dad saw in the pub later that night.

  • Such a stark contrast between Byrne's prissy, condescending, supercilious manner and Ronnie's laid-back affability and natural charm....I cringed at the bit where Gay starts herding and directing them up to the floor as if they were children. Ronnie would have wiped the floor with him as a chat show host!

  • gay is a pain

  • erzählt mal nich ihr habt doch alle keinen plan.....jeder weiss doch dass das original von klaus&klaus ist und damit selbstverständlich deuscth^^...."an der nordseeküste...am plattdeutschen strand..."xD

  • Look at Ronnie - his talent was his presence. All so natural. May he rest in peace.

  • I could not agree with you more how the fuck did he get the job on the late late show he's a feckin clampet

  • ok well in that case name a better Irish broadcaster?n tell me then also why the late late show is one of the longest running talk shows of all time, bearing in mind he started it

  • Good old Ronnie. God bless.

  • You're already missed Ronnie

  • The world is a much lonelier place with out the great man, I recall interviewing him for a radio show here in NYC a few years ago. In my set up (before going live), I asked him about being the "Senior Statesman of Irish Music". Well he would have none of it; a humble and honest man. I also remember "pouring" him into a taxi at the Burlington Hotel before he played "Midnight at the Olympia" I read the review a few days later and he apparently he play the gig of his life.

  • May God Rest Your Soul. R. I . P.

  • RIP Ronnie

  • WOW! Dubliners, Clancy Brothers and Paddy Reilly.

If Luke Kelly was there I'd think I had died and gone to heaven.

  • Top class....they don't make TV shows like this anymore! It's sad that the end is coming to the great Irish ballad scene, Clancys are gone, Dubliners are still going strong but age is against them, The Wolfe Tones still packing out venues, but not getting any younger. I don't see any great ballad groups coming behind.

  • true blue, like im not against the script but there really not plug in your earpods n sing along too, feeling all too proud to be Irish, this makes me so proud to be Irish the lads created beautiful music, god bless you lads

  • Great video, good old song.

  • what song is this

  • WEILE WAILE

    traditional

    An old children's song

  • Children's song? "she had a penkife long and sharp" "She stook the penknife in the babies heart"

Great song but i will not be singing it to my kids.

  • thanks for that brilliant too much still images with music on you tube of the dubliners great to see exactly what i was looking for

  • I always wanted to see my two favorite Irish groups together! Thanks :-)

  • Brilliant...thanks for posting this

  • Having trouble finding that song! VERY UPSET! Any links would be greatly appreciated! I'm looking for one I can keep for myself. I want it on my phone so I can play it anywhere! God Bless Ireland!

  • twas great too see that again, thanks for the memories. Ceol agus Crack.

  • Byrne was a prat. But the Dubliners were fab.

  • brilliant
