What a great song! Memories of The Willows at Arundel and my friends in Pied Merlin singing it! One of them (Mal Sims) is now in 'Legend'.Thank you for posting it!
Haven't seen the group for years but always found them very engaging and fantastic vocalists.
Omg! This brings me back to 1971. It's makes me weep and happy.
My parents organized with the org.: Youth and Music a folkfestival in Eindhoven NL 1971.
The Mccalmans and Danny Kyle stayed in our house. I was nine and my brother 7 years old. I remember the next morning that all the left shoes where hurled away in the gardens of the neighbours. Thanks Kyle, mister Poodle. (lol)
I work for Folkwoods Eindhoven. I hope one day to meet The Mccalmans again on dutch soil. Thanks for the good memories
Jeeze.. near bring a tear to a lad's eye... memories of the Elbow Room in Kirkaldy, the Osprey Rooms in Aviemore, Sandy Bells in Edinburgh, The Ship in the 'Ferry... and folk like Hamish Imlach, Danny Kyle, Iain Mackintosh, Tich Frier, Rab Noakes, Dick Gaughan, -man that takes me back. R.i.P. Derek Moffat... an absolute 'god' to me when I was young..Thanks for posting. Ian McC ... you still have the best Scots folk voice ever. All the best.

This is a great song for all the modern day smugglers of the 60's and 70's. Does anyone out there know of any other great smugglers songs?
