@jacxalz13 in my case, she's the cutest thing i've ever met, we share some music interest, she's funny, she has the softest touch, pretty much everything about her is admirable. problem for me is she's my good friend's girlfriend. i always feel awkward talking to her while he's around. she refers to me as her "BFFFF" (idk if thats good or bad) and we text each other quite a lot. but anyway, there's always hope, never give up
its funny. I was born in 94 (still not early enough for me i wish i was an 80's guy) anyway, i was born in 94: the year weezer released their debut album/one of their best albums in my opinion. Today, they are like my all time favorite band. Nothing else compares. Sadly, their newer songs don't have the traditional grunge garage sound this album had
My favorite track from my favorite album from my teenage years. I had the cassette when it came out and left it in a friend's car and it wound up saturated in McDonald's BBQ sauce!! Not a good combo! I bought it on cd about ten years later and at my first listening in ten years, It honestly brought tears to my eyes!! It was like rediscovering a lost friend, the true test of a classic album!!
I love the way this song rocks for 8 minutes. Great riffs. I miss this style of weezer. I feel like they have no lead guitarist in all of their new stuff. But I agree, quite easily arguable for one of their best songs ever...
alot of ppl r complaining about how their favorite band is changing and what not. its really an understandable thing, imagine yourself being an artist and producing the same style music for years. as music artist they have a naturally erge to create something different and new and step out of their comfort zone a little. weezer prolly just wanted to accomplish some new goal, they wouldn't be making any progress as artist if they just stayed the same.
I don't care if I sound like a hipster asshole- Weezer sold out big time. I'm all for a band going mainstream, but when they did they completely changed. Their music lost the unique sound and intelligent lyrics, and their image completely changed- first they were nerdy, then they tried to be overly punky, then... Hurley's face? I shouldn't complain too much. At least we have amazing music like this thanks to Weezer. It's just a shame when a good band sells their soul, you know?.
@IamIndeedLayingAnEgg Rivers Cuomo poured his heart out in the Pinkerton Album and everyone hated it. it destroyed him, in a muchmusic interview he admitted to selling out, wanting to be famous, had enough of it
@IamIndeedLayingAnEgg They turned down hundreds of magazines and shows so that they could last a long and not sell out and fall off of the face of the earth one year later..i think they are just comfortable now.
I'm on a total weezer nostalgia kick. It all brings me back to the days of puberty and prepubescence. I haven't listened to this stuff in years. Love it. Its that much better because of its absence.
This will be an amazing song 20 plus years from now. When I first listened to this album many years ago out of all the songs that became popular that you heard on the radio a lot I liked this one the best but I never once heard it played on the radio and it has to be one of the best ones on this album. :)
Absolutely fabulous song... about the fleeting hope of grasping the unnattainable... I was on the other end of the spectrum, someone else craved my attention and I left her standing... she loved this song, and years later I finally understand why. I should have been better to her.
I remember listening to this while lying in bed at night in high school, staring up at the ceiling, envisioning the crush of the month dancing with me and sharing my feelings. how naive I was!
friggin Matt Sharp....You leave Weezer and leave behind all this great talent. You sound like a moaning kangaroo when you sing in the rentals. Plz return and join Scott in bass. -.-
@TheBigCheeseSauce That would be nice, but that wont happen. They wanted to get him for their new tour, which is all about blue and pinkerton, but they dropped it early on...
theres this one girl i know, that i would wanna walk up to and ask to dance. if only she would take the chance. this song is definatly one of the best.
@ZephyrSamurai Do it. Thats how I met the love of my life in High School and I think of her every time I listen to this song. It's better to try and get rejected then living through life always asking what if? Good Luck My Friend.
My boyfriend dedicated this song to me...I have to say at first I didn't realize the meaning, or how special it was. It's almost been two years together, and I haven't heard this song in a while. I'm in love with it- the bass part and especially the lyrics. I hope someday I can play it with other great people and sing it for him, because he means the world to me. I'm glad I said yes when he asked me to dance that night I met him. Weezer, thank you for an incredible, beautiful song.
playl1fe...you should start with this one..listen to it night and day lol. then move onto Pinkerton..listen to that one night and day..then move onto Green Album..repeat. Now this is where most Weezer fans tend to think the music starts to suck..but i disagree. Move onto Maladroit...repeat. Then digest Make Believe..then stop listening to Weezer lol.
I had never heard this song in my life until I heard 'Ash' cover this at a live gig the other night and was so blown away by how fantastic it was I had to come and check out the original.
Needless to say it hasn't dissapointed, I probably should buy some Weezer stuff as more often than not when I hear a Weezer song I tend to really like it.
On that note any reccomendations on what Weezer album I should start off with?
@thgiepsluap no doubt about it. they need to go back to making quality music like this. their last two albums (RADITUDE in particular) we're really horrible imo. almost sellout-ish
@playl1fe uh ya....their first album, the blue album is one of the best records of all time. this song is off of that record. their second album "pinkerton" is really good also.
to clarify : Weezer never made any decent albums after Green, this is fact. It's better for everyone involved to pretend they died at the peak of their careers instead of putting out a decade of crappy music.
@annyongSC . . . . . . look him in the eye and say that.... people grow up, change, and write new music, feel different, and do different things. there is no "peak" or zeneth of a career.... people dont respect the fact that artists have lives too.... that change and evolve like everyone elses. crappy music?? its just music. its someones' thoughts and you nor i am any judge of it. . . . sorry you feel the way you do buddy
addendum: it would be agreeable to pretend weezer broke up after 2000, and spent their time on side projects; The Rentals are a good band who put out a couple good EPs in the mid - late 2000's.
@dominic14061995 I don't have a problem with evolving your style, as long as you still keep intact what made you great. Weezer has lost half of their band and Rivers just isn't the same person anymore. Their geeky, honest lyrics and simple quirky melody's are gone. Besides that, I think Rivers realized after "Beverly Hills" that the less he tries, the more people will like it. i've been listening to this song everyday lately. I think this is Weezers masterpiece. and the outro, there arent words to describe how badass that is.
When I was like 12, I pretended I was the girl like the one they're singing about. But this song is so badass, now that I'm older I appreciate it so much more. I love the buildup of energy towards the end especially.
I bought this album by accident more than 10 years ago, because it was cheap, and I don't know why, the cover was appealing me... I didn't know their music at all at the moment. And it became my most favorite album ever. And this song... omg... the final is f**ing awesome.
great song, they used hav another animi vid for this song but it looks like its removed which is a pity, a song for being out of ur head....jus brilliant :)

1) how he personifies his ideas as women. fucking genius
2) dat feedback. builds up so much tension during the break down and then boom climax into the chorus.

Unfortunately, Metallica's One has a horrible solo in the end that ruins what could've been a good song... And it's no where near their best song.

@InsideYoFeebleBrain fuck you! theres nothing wrong with the solo! it's awsome!

I love the dueling guitar leads in the later half of the song.

Everything is so perfect about this song...if I could rewind to 1994 I totally would just so I could hear this record again for the first time
