Call me crazy guys but I love this film very much. Paul Verhoeven is one of my favorite directors (Total Recall, RoboCop, Basic Instinct) and he did a good job. Elizabeth Berkley showed bad acting and maybe this film would have better chances with that-time sex symbols Kim Basinger, Madonna, Sharon Stone, Sherilyn Fenn, Erika Eleniak or Kristy Swanson but Elizabeth looked wonderful in "dance" scenes. Not to mention her superhot look (like Shakira & Claudia Schiffer)
*pretends like he is living in the '90s and just saw this in a theater* Huh! Well that's a very interesting and sexy looking picture you've got there, major motion picture studio, I've just got one peculiar and curious question...
What in the bloody hell is the fricking movie called, you assholes?! DX
This teaser was taken off a 15+ home video, but Showgirls is 18+. So the rules were you can't show any titling or moving images of a film rated higher :)
Yes even fans of the film think that scene was unnecessary. The filmmakers claimed they had "serious intentions" so they perhaps they felt one of the characters had to pay a price. But for me its pure sleazy trash, nothing wrong with that for me, but that scene had no place in the film. That's actually one cut scene in the R rated version I got no problem with.
@Rbatty2 Seems movies about dancers like this try to prove a point? "The Player's Club" had a rape scene in it too. Maybe they try to show the audience what kind of things can come along with this life-style. I don't know because I've never livedin it, but it's a possibility no? (I hate that secene also!)
@sonyxxmunions I haven't that seen that other film, but often filmmakers doing exploitation films to try throw in "deep messages" or "moral lessons" to try to rationalize the end result. With "Showgirls" I just felt that the film was sensantionalistic junk that didn't justify a brutal rape scene, it was too much reality for a film that plays like high camp. I don't know about dancing too much, but it may not be as dangerous a profession as some films may suggest.
@AussieRoadshow i agree Molly was the most decent character(with heart) made it more heartbreaking .The revenge scene-why did'nt they write Nomi also fucks up the 2 bodyguards as well? they were equally vile
Scary Teaser They won't say the Title in the Trailer and the Naked Woman on stage is eating everyone thats a nightmare turned reality

Well, that's strange. What's the point on advertising this movie if you can't show the title?

I know now why the title can't be included.
Neat "teaser" in all senses of the term. Saw this again at the Bloor last week, erotic not really, funny oh yes! Thanks for posting!

I might add, although I'm not that easily offended, that gang rape scene was really horrible.
