@kornholigo That's not really all that suprising. That BMW is built for racing, so they try to make it as light as possible material wise to get the fastest speed, and best areodynamics out of the car. The Chevy Cruze on the other hand, is a full blown production model car, made to withstand highway speed crashes. The battle of strength is without a doubt on the Cruze's side. I bet the driver of the beemer had a few choice words for the saftey car crew though ;)

The saftey car should have been 300 meters down the track, and double waved yellows should have been waved at pit exit. I have been a motorsport fan for many many years and never anything so stupid!! Race control to blame as saftey car driver was unsighted. Cool song by the way, goes well with vid!
yeah, I read Autosport this week too, but don't you think its easy for an "untouchable" race control to blame someone else. It doesn't explain why double yellows weren't being waved on such a blind bend when SC was due out? But I agree SC driver should never have left pits without green to go.
The safety car wasn't even given the signal to come out that lap, plus it didn't exit properly; every car is supposed to use the acceleration lane to safely enter the track, not pull out in front of a racing driver going at full speed, especially as it's a blind corner.
But how ironic is it that a Safety Car actually caused an accident? On top of that, Alain Menu went on to win the race in a Chevrolet Cruze and in so doing finished just ahead of a BMW!
If you don't like it, turn the volume down. The alternative was commentary in a language 99% of YouTube users wouldn't understand anyway. Not to mention that the comments would sound like crap when slowed down.

Even if you are racing under yellow you race down to the flag. It was a big big mistake by the organisers because they released the Safety Car way to late. And secondly, the Safety Car is under the same rules as the rest of the competitors when leaving the pits.
This said, he broke the rules when he crossed the white line out of the pits.
The white line are there to prevent these kind of accidents.
yeah i know.. sorry if i didnt make that clear.. was just saying.. because i watched other slips of this and he couldnt have miss the yellow flags the organisers showed.. so he should have slowed down from my point of view.. but i dont know.. dont know all the rules in this sport.. just saying
@Michekna look at the screen the race was in a red flag status way before the crash, he passed at least three yellow flags1 he could use his mind because there is no over taking under the yellow flag. His team surly would have told him of this over the radio, there were somewhere around 8 crashes on the first lap and a car of fire in the racing line. He was the lead car and it is the duty of the safety car to pick up the lead car!
