If they did this in the US they would have to make the platforms the car sits on bigger. It looked like a bit of a squeeze for the antique Mercedes, I can only imagine how tight it would be for a Chevy Suburban.
Most advanced? There is a huge waste of space.. important factor.. Heights of building.. way too big. No turntables for small buildings? And client has a looong walk. Also you cannot call your car via smartphone... no electrical autorefull system present in this system... But i do need to note that something is really good: speed. It would be necessary to know the carpark's total emptying time. And also the ratio Nb of cars/sq². How many kW / car? Eco-friendly? Not sure....
I wonder if the car alarms will be triggered by movement. I know the newer vehicles detect if the car is moving (for either rim stealing, or being towed etc).
@porschefan102 I had the same thought, most cars have tilt sensors to detect movement... But then again the movements dont seem much more than a car being buffeted by a gust of wind. A good test, go rock a more modern car roughly see if it goes off?
My only question.. what if you just needed to grab something out of your car? thats a lot of effort!
Would never work in New York City. The mechanisms are too complicated, too much maintenance required; there would be a breakdown everyday and nobody would know how to repair it. Furthermore, in New York, you can expect a driver to crash through the lit stop sign and wreck the system.
if every thing do by machine then what for the human being.....just for handshake ??????lol........rust of money rust of technique.....it is just like a car puzzle....self choosing the place and just go for blank place put your car finish ..simple
@mysongbook - LOL, yes! These are brilliant! The city of The Hague, Netherlands is building one now in the city center - under an existing canal. An innovative solution to a dispute over parking space versus green space in the city core.
@mysongbook Well, you'd be without your car and without the keys to said Bugatti. So.. you'd be fucked. Wouldn't be cool at all, maybe slightly for a few minutes, until you realize that your car is lost in the garage somewhere.
It would be awesome if this was city wide, so you can drop your car off one place and walk around the city and then pick your car up at the nearest terminal or whatever you want to call it. Would be expensive though.
So what happens if the guy that owns the beemer wants his car before the guy in the Porsche comes back? Yet to see any of these videos show how they get the car out that gets moved back to make room for another. Multirow parking may save space, but it's not very user friendly if you have to wait half an hour for the system to move all the cars around to get the one that's been there longest
@mbunny076 You would prefer having to find a parking space on the streets?? This allows many people to park their car indoors away from everyone and anyone to hit it.
It does not take 30mins to get your car. You get it in about 5 mins which would be about the the same time it would take you to walk down the street to get your car.
I can't belive you are asking such a daft question, IT'S ALL COMPUTER CONTROLED, NOODEL, the computer simply moves the car in the way to a NEW parking bay, THEN moves the wanted car to the Pick-up point.
I would put the tops up on those beauties. I don't think my 10' GT3 would fit? With some love maybe. I would stay in the X3 at 2:06 and smoke: ) Some video of that would be funny. PORSCHE.
lol its so dumb, at this point you see the sign saying ''Bitte Spiegelreinklapen'' which means you have to close your mirrors, he leaves it sticking out lol
id bet teenagers and such... if they could afford this they would have say 4 people in the car...one would park it and swipe the card and the rest would stay in the car for the ride...
Can you imagine the cell phone talking, suv driving, soccer moms in the USA trying to figure this out? Somehow, they would crash through the glass and drop to their deaths!
LOL - and I have to ask, as an American and a driver who ABHORS cell phone talking suv driving soccer moms, how is what you said a bad thing!? Natural selection.....makes the world a better place for the rest of us! ;-)
@syakujiidai I was wondering the same thing.. Sometimes the media is so stupid including this user who uploaded the video. I mean I saw this technology in Japan years ago and its probably still more advanced than this system shown here..

drawbacks: too much reliance on technology, no more waiting in the car while your girlfriend goes shopping.

Japan pioneered 'Thunderbirds' car-park 'weeks-ago' [decade-or-more]; why is this NOT the NORM?
Abandoning on-street parking in-favour of automated-parking releases the inside-lane for busses & emergency-services [NOT-taxis], reduces criminal-damage & auto-theft; okay WILL create bottle-necks movie-theatre 'chucking-out', office start-&-end times...
More benefits than drawbacks; personally, I would integrate 'latest-variant' with EVERY new building-development, tourist-attraction...

I do not know the nationality of the company that invented this system. However, this system is already widespread in Tokyo in Japan.
We have been using this system for about ten years. This system is convenient.
Actually, a hasty Japanese hopes for the improvement of the speed-up. We do not want to wait for one minute or more the delivery the car.
