The point is that the Islanders are becoming the NHL's next thug team, like the Flyers before them. Also, I am in no way saying that Matt Cooke and the Penguins are saints.

Also, there was no research involved, aside from knowing that most of the Islanders players are brought up from lesser leagues to act as "enforcers," which means nothing more than thuggish gameplay. And I'm an Avalanche fan, so the east coast really isn't my thing when it comes to hockey.

Much like the Flyers before them, the Islanders are being portrayed in a very negative light for being a thug-ridden team, and I'm not a regular participant in Islanders games. The only thing that gets me is that they're trying to mask their intentions of purposefully bringing up certain players to play an enforcer role: just because you lose some to injuries doesn't mean you have to counteract with aggression. Support guys would suit this team better.

If it wasnt for Briere mugging Nielsen with a cross check, Carcillo's hit would have been just that, another strong, but average, hit from a heavy hitter. It was all on Brieres head. Carcillo is in no way a saint, but in this case it was Briere, not Carcillo.

@wreelp Agreed. It wasnt a "mugging" as the announcers tried to pass it off as.That Flyers team is gone. This Flyers team has just the right mix of heavy, take no prisoners physicality, mixed with a fair dose of class. I say a fair dose, because, like any team, there are moments where emotions get the best of you, ie: Briere's cross check. Carcillo did nothing wrong, this is his job: Take out the other teams center, protect Briere. He did exactly that, and very well. This was Brieres screw-up.

They see what they want to see, they jump to conclusions and make asses out of themselves and they don't even know it. No wonder they're working for the Islanders. Nobody knows what truly happened between Briere and Nielson. All I know is the Flyers were in total control of the game at that point and Briere knew what he was going to do, so one can only imagine what Neilson did to cause it to happen.
