i heard a commercial on tv last night, iwas totally floored. the the cool little diddy in the commercial was a rearrangement of the wizard, johnnys version. how f'n bad can a person be. 20 yrs after the bad mans life , he is still touching people and influencing peoples song writeing on that level. he ranks up there with elvis, chuck berry, and jesus. no one has been more infuential then these 4 people. i love steven van zandt, just that chick looks like a tranny....

never really got to know the guy till i got a computer, only tune i ever heard of his befor then was trash. though i did grow up listening to the punk scene created. now that i know him and his story , im shocked at how much we are alike, everything i do people emulate me, tell me that isnt thunderesque.my guitar style is his style and i never even had him as an influence, not first hand anyway.

however the stars were aligned when he was born, must have been aligned the same when i came to be. whatever he had, i got it...all of it. our lives have been entertwined since i was 11 yrs old. i vaguely heard something about his H addiction around that time, and that is the only reason i never did the stuff, probably the only reason im alive, becouse i would try any mind altering substance. he saved my life.

I think Van Zandt had a severe head injury when he was younger that left a large scar, and as he went bald it was exposed and now he wears the bandana to cover it

No, he definitely had hair as a young man... actually a nice head of hair.. supposedly he started wearing the bandana to cover a scar. At this point he probably doesn't have much hair left but that is not unsusual for his age.

I don't know if you're just commenting on this video and haven't watched it, but there are 8-10 different pictures of Steven with a lot of hair in this video. When they talk about the band Steel Mill there are 2 black and white photos, side by side of him and Bruce and their names are written under each of their pictures. And early in the interview that's Steven in the red suit with the white hat singing with Bruce and you can see his hair....continued !!!!

I like the black & white photo (at 3:35-3:38) where he looks pretty young and clean cut with a band and they're all wearing white w/ black vests and it's zoomed in on Steven and then backs up so you can see the whole band and they're called the Shadows. But in the pic with his name written under it he has hair down to his shoulders. Check it out! He's even cute when he was younger. Enjoy.

Keep in mind that he's ALWAYS kept his head covered. Back in the 70s, he wore fedoras or berets. I guarantee you that you'll never find a picture of him bareheaded from back then. If he just recently started keeping his head covered, just like those 80s hair metal guys do, then you would have a point.

There is ONE published photo of Miami Steve without his bandana. It's in a Springsteen book, released in 1985 that I bought. The picture is from the 1970s, I think.
