  • Sharon,I like you and your sister miss Bob and when I see a certain Corvette it reminds me of the guy who entertained me on WMGM,WINS,WABC,WABC FM,WNEW FM as well as WCBSFM in New York and what a talented voice over guy the pre med student turned disc jockey tha Robert Louis Swartzman was...

  • The big Bob-a- Lewis Show! is what they sang

  • BROOKLYN AND AM RADIO!!!! WMCA AND WABC!!!!

  • This is the first record I bought. I was 8 years old in 1962 in Slims on 34th Street and it was a birthday present from my mom. Slim asked me how old I was and I told him I was 8 and he laughed and said I had 8 freakles. What a memory. Next time I saw slim was over a decade later and he moved downtown. I bought a 331/3 Miss You long version single from him.

  • Thank you all, This brought tears to my eyes. Bob Lewis was my adopted father and I miss him terribly!

  • nice,thanks for the memories and the fun,Tom D. Brick,NJ. {at the shore}.

  • Learned to love this stuff from my late brother and sisters. Then years later at car shows when I had my 55 Chevy, and later my 56 Chevy Nomad! Great music

  • Isn't his girlfriend's name Hoskie Bopalena?

  • Fantastic memories . . . unlike most posting, I grew up in a hick town in Ohio, but it made no difference cause of radio. I love the do wop sound and its vibrancy.

  • wow isn't that the original from opening of the vineland doowop diner show? 92.1 WVLT-NY? Luke costello? :D awesome !!

  • Grab the audio from this song at speedyconversion doht cohm.

  • boy, does this bring back memories of being a kid and listening to the older kids trying to sing this song. It was never a big hit, but it was on EVERY jukebox in Brooklyn.

  • Hey, thats' my neighbor Jose in the middle. who are the rest?

  • thank god for k-earth 101 in los angeles

  • DAS ist echt geiler Doo Wop!!!

  • The late Bob Lewis one of the best top 40 jocks ever to hit the new york airwave from WMGM to WINS to WABC then Progressive rock at WABC FM and Then back to WCBS fm in the final years of his great career

  • I knew him before his move to NYC..He was a top jock on WNHC- AM in New Haven...drove an MG if I recall...We used to hang around the studio when he was on the air...

  • He had a friend who lived at the corner He thought Babalu was a gone-er From his friend he tried to borrow a dime So he could get to church in time Babalu, Babalu, Babalu's wedding day He had a monkey tied on a string An organ grinder that he played Counting the money at the end of the day The monkey took the money and he ran away Babalu, Babalu, Babalu's wedding day Babalu, Babalu, Babalu's wedding day Babalu, Babalu, Babalu's wedding day
  • Some people think it's funny

Some people think it's true, true-true-true

Babalu's getting married, what will he do?

He met his woman at a baseball game

Playing second base for the Milwaukee Braves

    Husky Babalina was her name

Asked her for an autograph and made a date

    Babalu, Babalu, Babalu's wedding day

  • Where's everybody running Look at everybody go, go-go-go Somebody please tell me, what's all the rush But tell you Babalu's getting married, what you say? Babalu's getting married, that cheap skate Hear the church bells ringing-ding dong All the people are signing's - hay, hay And the bride is waiting, wait wait Hear them all celebrating, so gay But he ain't the money, oh oh Babalu's wedding day
  • This was SO my Favorite listening to WABC back in the 60's

  • Always loved this and indeed put the flip up on my channel a few months ago. I also have a version of 'Babalu's Wedding Day' by Billy and The Essentials that's worth a spin if you ever find it. Not quite as good as this one, but definitely one to watch out for as you comb the thrift stores looking for bargains.

  • @EagerBoy59 I got it at Sam Goody's in Valley Stream. Only cost a buck.

  • check out 1250am from jersey, its still around and thank god or al gore for the net,

  • One of the greatest rock songs ever!!!

  • you are right - they just don't make em like this anymore........love it

  • Wow, they just don't make em like this anymore

  • You got it right on Dudley1948. Been whistling this tune all week at work. What a pick me up!

    Who is the DJ

    the big fat daddy cool

    I wanna tell you Bob-a-loo

    Bob-a-loo i a

    Bob-a-loo, Bob-a-i

    Bob-a-loo, Bob-a-i

    The Big Bob Lewis Show"

Hope I got that right...been a long time.

  • I remember this as a young teenager and I doi believe it was the " big bob louie show"

  • Hey DaddyBog, I remember the Bob Lewis show too. The Eternals did one of his intros - went like "big Bobba Lewis show". Where does the time go. Many thanks to you for posting HarryWarner. I'm heading to check out the rest of your stuff.

  • I think it was called the big bob louie show

  • The DJ was Bob Lewis. He was on 77 WABC AM in New York. This was his theme song. He passed away a number of years ago. Great DJ Staycott

  • This song ROCKS! :)

  • i love it

  • Years ago when I lived in Queens, New York WABC AM radio (that had Cousin Bruce Morrow), had Bob Lewis and some of the words to this song were changed for his opening show song. Thanks for posting, (thumbs up).

  • @DaddyBog ...and before he made it to WABC AM he was on the air on New Haven's WNHC AM radio when he used the same theme. I and my friend pestered him in the control room when he was on the air..He also actually lived in an apartment in my New Haven neighborhood where we used to see him cruising in his MG convertible coupe.
