  • And He had new wants in life. When your a young adult you want to have fun and make money and find a career for yourself. When your settled in a career you often want a family to give your love and wealth to. Then when your children are all grown up, you want to do things again travel and see the world with your significant other. And then when you finally get really old there's a point where you just want to rest and have peace and quiet (at least for some). But he still cared for the tree.

  • That was good, that was really good. I cried soo bad. at the end, especially in thinking how much good parents give and care and love soo much and soo well. That was soo good and soo bittersweet. it took me to be an adult to truly understand and cry over this story. it was soo good. And to me the boy wasn't being greedy, he was being truthful. He cared about the tree but he was at a new stage in his life and as an adult you have an imagination but not as wild as a childs to play with a tree.

  • LOVE THIS VIDEO IS AMAZING HOW MUCH A MOTHER CAN GIVE!!!!

  • I doubt that a tree would be very good at Hide-and-Seek...

  • the lion king soundtrack...

  • god i wanna kill myself :/

i would love to have a giving tree <3

  • that tree wa smithy nice to provide for the boy

  • dont say u hate the boy. this is for all the mamas out there. the one person u can always rely on is ur mama. no matter what ur mama will be ther for u and she wants u to be happy more then nething. this is for all the unconditional love our mamas give us thru thick and thin, and even though we dont deserve it. love you mama <3

  • The boy is not greedy, he is taking what the tree gives him. That is the meaning of love to give with out the care of receiving.

  • It's supposed to be about a loving parent giving up everything so his or her child can be happy. And yeah, the boy may come off as selfish but as long as he was happy, so was the tree. And that's how it is in real life. All a parent wants is for the child to be happy.

  • Everyone is like I hate that little boy... but that is probably them... and this story is what they did to his parents

  • The point of the video is completely lost in the offensive verbage

  • Don't read this story to your kids or they'll turn out just like me; Giving up everything for the sake of people who don't care, people who're just out to see what they can get from you and when you have nothing left to give, you're garbage to them.

  • okay why is the tree ALWAYS HAPPY whatever the selfish boy do to her???

  • @randomnessy12 Because the true meaning of love is seeing happiness in what you are giving, regardless if you are receiving.

  • Reminds me of my relationship with God. He is so good and self-sacrificing to me, yet I am greedy and selfish and use Him. But after running after the things of the world, I'll come back and find acceptance and love, despite my ways. He will be happy when I return.

  • why did they make his book? was it to show not to take from people? or what

  • It's a brilliant way of showing that you don't have to look everywhere for happiness, there's always something there right in front of you that will give you happiness......kinda makes you think about your life haha

  • Hating the boy would mean hating the whole human race.

The tree's happiness is in giving, not in getting a reward or getting its efforts reciprocated

  • If you've heard the song "Kids" by MGMT and listened to the lyrics, maybe you'll understand what the song stands for now. The song seems to be based off this book.

  • Lion King Soundtrack!!!

  • i thought that u were gunna say nicky in the book it says nicky but that was beautiful

  • i thought that u were gunna say nicky in the book it says nicky

  • It was good, espeacily with Circle of Life Elton Johns version at the end.

  • i freaking LOVE the Lion King music in the background.!!!!

  • i remember my fifth grade teacher reading this to us, and i was about to cry. so sad, yet it's my favorite children's book.

  • I think a litle part of that boy is inside all of us

  • The Lion King Music ^^

  • he should have died at the tree and then the tree could slowly eat his rotting corpse and grow.

  • nice story ^_^

  • The one person who disliked this video was the Boy.

  • Like mother to son.

  • Well...there's another way of looking at it. We might think that the tree should be angry, and demand payment, bu we have to understand that the tree wants very little, other than for the boy to be happy. Giving what she could made the tree happy, and isn't that what matters in the end? Happiness? And not wealth, as we can see from the boy.

  • makes me friken depressed

  • I feel you have nothing to apologize for. This is as true to the original as I have seen. The music, colors and female voice adds a different but beautiful take on the original presentation. I just wish the old man could die at the tree, return to the earth around the tree and give back what the tree had given him.

  • that was a beautiful story

  • Moral of the story - Don't be a greedy little bitch OR a pushover!!!

  • "Control yourself, take only what you need from it... A family of trees wanted, to be haunted..."

  • This is so sad to me.D:

  • i have an uncle mike from Corona, CA. hmm.....

  • The Lion King music made me laugh

  • I hate the boy he is so greedy I HATE HIM

  • @Jessiesnow100 In the end, the greedy boy returns to the tree, in this version, to stay with the tree through the end to die and return to the earth and feed the tree so it can begin the growing process once again, redeeming him

  • @Jessiesnow100 but it was a good book

  • @Jessiesnow100 i agree all he cared was about himself he didn't care about the tree after he was a little kid he just wanted what he wanted and didn't care about the tree after he grew up.... the 1 dislike is the boy because after it was a stump i bet he wanted something else and he got mad because the stump couldn't give anything to him...stupid boy...and i always found it funny they still called him a boy even though he was i dunno like 70 or higher looking in the last few pages.

  • @Jessiesnow100 ikr...SNIFF i would cherish a friend like that Dx i watched these over and over (since i cant go to the library) and i have nothing to do no real friends the giving tree kept on giving and giving until it was a stump the tree gave him happyness then it gave him a house he took his branches he asked for a boat and took its trunk then he was old and the tree was nothing but a stump and it kept giving Dx!!!! i would love and cherish friend that cared Dx

  • @Jessiesnow100 you do know the boy represents humans

  • @Jessiesnow100 I agree he's greedy he's selfish, and he always want more and more.

    That means he's a human.

  • My grandfather gave me this book back in the 70's. I have always loved this story and it still bring tears to my eyes each time I read it. Everyone should read and understand this story.

  • I LOVE that book :) AND the Lion King <333

  • thank you for posting this. my sons birthday is in two days... he will be 3 years old. i hope he grows to be a good son like you are to your mother. good job.

  • yay lion king music.

  • this made me cry.

  • this story is about the tree and boy. The boy are us but the tree is our parents.

  • @Blackwing0820 harsh git

  • That's so sad because that tree gave up so much for the boy and nothing she did for him was ever good enough and the end was so depressing because the tree was just a stump and the boy was a old man. That's sad

  • The tree is like a mother, who gives because she loves her child.

  • great job, I'm sure you make your Mom very proud.

  • This was very sweet.

I really loved it! The reading. the music, everything!

    Great Job!

  • I <3 this book

  • Love the Lion King background music. Wonderfully created!

  • Hey great idea! Hope the family loves it. Very well done.
