  • Did you chase it, or is this the only shot, if you have more can you please post it???

  • Hey guys, I found out why 2467 dosen't run anymore.

She leaked too much and she had bearing problems.

  • @ThomasRivette

Bearing problems yes, leaked at all no. I worked on this engine and the boiler is tight. I wouldn't hesitate to throw a fire in it today.

  • @amtk415w I thought it had some piston ring issues too, there's a vid of it on youtube running in 2002, and it is hissing from its right piston, and the cylinder cocks are closed

  • @trainboy94 The piston rod packing leaked, simple fix with new packing and we did that. Besides, that's hardly a reason to sideline an engine. I know for a fact that up until the day we stopped running it, the boiler was tight.

  • I guess the 2467 wasn't restored yet. otherwise she would've been steaming.

  • this was following retirement of 2467

  • Wow i remember seing this, 5***** and favorite

  • this makes my cry 2467 WITH A FRED????

  • how did this amtrak train engine get on the caltrain mainline

  • Why did 2467 not have her headlight on and why was the 6051 in there?

  • ThomasRivette

I'm not sure why the 6051 was in the train, but locomotives lose their removable parts when they're dead-headed.

  • Why was the 6051 in there?

  • I hope the 2467 doubleheads with 2472 on the Niles Canyon Railway soon.

  • so #2467 wont ever run again

  • It very well may. You ca't tell at this point.

  • sp 2467 was taken out of service I watched a video called tribute to fallen steam locomotives 2467 was retired in 2005

  • Thats my video, 2467 last ran in 2003, and was the stored operable in 2005 her flue time ran out and it could no longer be operated.

  • What happened to your video called tribute to fallen steam locomotives

  • it was blocked by wmg

  • Okay can you make another one

  • I really dont want to

  • I thought 6051 was operable!?!

  • It is.

  • Comment removed

  • SP 2467 was out of boiler time, plus she couldn't sit out and rot. The PLA will restore her, but not right now. They don't have the facilities to restore her. Besides it's better that she is in a nice home protected than sitting outside rotting away.

  • Gotta Love THose F40's

  • Awesome footage! I miss the Amtrak F-40's!

    5*****

  • Caltrain still uses F40's.

  • look at the FRED on the steamer

  • I heard someone give a toot on the P5 on the 6051 :D

  • You're right - I never noticed that.

  • 2467 was a good steam locomotive and now she's gone, just sitting there.

  • Yeah, it sucks. It was meant to run, not sit idle in a museum...

  • So true! I hope an angry mob of railfans buy her back and restore her.

  • That would be nice!!

  • She's gonna be rerestored, but not until GGRM gets the facilities to do it and the economy clears.

  • @Trainfanatic192 2467 is owned by PLA, not GGRM.

  • LNERMallard

2467 is in good hands until the Pacific Locomotive association builds their new facilities and roundhouse on the Niles Canyon Railway, where she will returnstay and be restored to operation once again! unfortunately, her lease to the CSRM is still 4 years away from ending, and even worse, it will probably be extended and she'll never get home!

  • Love unusual rail movements like this. Very Good!!!

  • wow that is some amazing video.

i wanted to see that happen

  • I wish they brought back the 4-8-2 MT's. They would be so awesome to see running.

  • Yeah, If only Frisco 1522 wasn't put out of service we would have a Mountain engine running today : (

  • @ThomasRivette There is an SP/ T&NO Mountain running around, and I agree, 1522 would be nice to have running, I also feel that they should not have museum-bound the only cab-forward left.

  • when was the 2467 taken out of service

  • yeah. I thought she was operational.

  • Nice!

  • looked like the amtrak F40PH was under power and not a cabbage car (cab control/baggage

  • It is no longer Amtrak owned. The F40PH is owned by the Cal State RR Museum.

  • whoa a steam train on the back wow
