Man... The "imposters" angle was and still is, an extremely embarrassing decision by the the WWF/WWE... It was more like "Bizarro Ramon and Diesel"... WWF only signed him to a one year deal and after this stint he went back to Japan while Fake Diesel Glen Jacobs was repackaged as Kane around the time of his release.

A redneck portraying a Cuban should have only lasted as long as other bad ideas in the wrestling business, but Hall's talent and passion made it work. @pureathlete89 No. The WWF likely did it because they wanted to show that they had exclusive rights to the Razor Ramon name and the likeness and mannerisms of the character itself. They did it so that they could show in court that they legally had the rights to these things so Hall and Nash couldn't just continue using the exact same characters in WCW. But it didn't matter - Hall and Nash were charismatic enough on their own and they had a hot angle (NWO) so they didn't their old characters.
