Very well done review. There's too many people bashing the film all because of the events of the first five minutes, it's nice to know that there's more and more people that can see past that.
@ihateu890 yeah dude I know sometimes It'll sound like it's moving toward a silver position with all the positive things I have to say. The reason I didn't give it a silver is because while I felt it was a solid fun film I didn't think it was a memorable one. I didn't see myself wanting to view this film more than once and that's usually what gets a silver in my rating system.
I think Attack the Block was blurted out simply because of who acted in it. Sad to say, but though Hollywood maybe multi everything, the studio Execs are still pin nosed. This movie was brilliant, and easily better than almost everything I've seen this year. But it got shoved aside. The suspense was the most suspenseful of the year, and the character studies were nearly off the charts. Especially since, this film came out well before the London Riots, and thus, we had a glimpse.
Q1: I absolutely loved the alien designs, MUCH better than the CG blobs we get today. I felt so inspired when the movie was over that I drew so many of the bastards. Q2: I thought the reason for the invasion was refreshingly clever and not some bs copout. Q3: My favorite scene was the ending, where I cheered and proclaimed Moses the hero of the year. Screw Harry Potter!
This really connected with me as the characters actually used street language which is common in the UK. They made no effort to tone it down for people from other countries to understand. While this may have hurt its reviews I feel that the atmosphere was greatly improved by their dialogue. In a world dominated by big budgeted piles of 3D shit like clash of the titans and others. Its good to see small budget movies competing.
I'm English so I may be a little bias but I think our films are the best! Sure, America has more classics (Godfather, Scarface, American Gangster, Butterfly Effect e.t.c) but English films have had less mainstream chances and yet they've pretty much always delivered (Submarine, Attack the Block, Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead). I love the good old American blockbuster but I can't wait to see what our industry has to offer in the future!
I loved this movie, I thought it was a great spin on the alien invasion story and I thought the film makers did a great job with the aliens, simple but effective.
Keep the comment short, not an easy task for me, lol. I loved this movie, the alien design was simple but effective.... I need to stop now before I go overboard on this comment. Your wife did great on the intro!

Attack the Block is hands down the best film I've seen this Summer if not this year! Much of this is due to the sharp script and fun factor!
