I love Miss Keys very much, though this wasn't her best performance. That being said, I also love Sade, but I do believe the late Aaliyah would have done a great job performing next to the Legendary Sade - mainly because their vocals are similar.

Alicia is unbelievably talented, but, like others have said, Sade is in a class by herself. Just look at how they move on stage. You can definitely tell Sade is sophisticated and old school elegant, while Alicia is contemporary classy. Its almost like they're mother and daughter onstage. Alicia is on her way to becoming a legend, while Sade is one.

@boobj Sade herself said she's not acrobatic with her voice. She knows what her voice is cut out for. Alicia, contrarily, can be acrobatic with her voice. What you're missing is that Sade's voice is perfect for how simply she uses it, that it suffices and it needs not to get all fancy. All the acrobatic vocals of most artist is cream and sugar added to coffee to make it taste better. Sade's coffee's good and bold as is with just water. That's the difference. Sade wins with her "hands down".

I think the reason no one has ever covered a Sade song is that one they don't want to suffer the comparison and two, Sade songs are wrapped around the particularities of the Sade Adu's voice. They fit her like a glove. Alicia is a talented singer (and a benevolent philanthropist) but the glove doesn't fit.

Then again I give Alicia big time credit for being on that stage a couple months before she was due to give birth. Sade bowed to Alicia because of her being pregnant; and to show respect for new life Alicia was going to give. Sade's a very honorable woman, they don't make them like that anymore. Alicia was nervous singing with Sade because she's one of he idols; she has respect and admiration 4 her. Alicia made HISTORY, she was granted everyone's ultimate wish 2 stand on the same stage as SADE.

This was PHENOMENAL becasue of the presence of Sade actually singing with someone outside of her band. This was the first time this has ever happened; and it's unlikely that it'll ever happen again. The duet was lackluster at best, I like Alicia, but her voice should not be be unison with Sade's. Sade has a powerful, smokey, passionate voice that is also immaculately refined. People talk of a duet, it wouldn't do poor Alicia justice. I hated to say all that but it's the undeniable TRUTH!!!.

Both women sound really great, just different. I personally prefer Alicia's voice. I admire her very much for even performing at this event. This was only a few weeks before she gave birth to her son. By this time most women are finding it hard to even breathe, much less sing.
