heyy, you doing well for your level, but you really need to sit up straight and put your heels down! you just got left behind thats how you fell off because the pony had the wrong stride!
Yall look good together but it looks like to me that you get in your half seat a little early which throws your pony off just try and push him forward more into the jump and let his body motion tell you when he is ready to jump that way if he decides to stop last minute you still have a good seat. But just keep practicing and you will get it.
ouuch :L ahh i rodee a horse like that never no if its gunna jump or nott so ive leaarnt dont do you jumping position untill there jumping its reallly anoyyin but i reallly cba to falll of haha ;) but gooood ridingg <3 xxx
the way to avoid the weird jumping thing is to get more impution and squeeze your legs a stride before the jumpp.. my pony is 5 and does the same thingg. its anoyying right?!?! and if u werent on the right lead that coulda been a problem too. but idk i didnt look. other than that it was good(:
Ouch! Don't drop your eye and shoulder. If he's a young, inexperienced horse, he's looking to you to be confident and help him through the jumps. Just sit up and wait, look out, not down, and you'll be fine. Even if he does still munch the jump a bit, if you keep a good, balanced posture, you'll be prepared and you'll keep your seat. :) Cute cute CUTE pony, btw.
that didn't looke like ur fault at all.......the striding was off which caused the pony to jump badly(not his fault either) which in turn caused you too fall......obviously whoever set that line didn't get the strides right
your a really good rider. it just looked like he chipped the stride (as in he had to either make a really long stride or really short because he felt he couldn't make the long) that looked like it hurt. i no this video was a long time ago but just work on your striding and you'll be a great team
haha, it always sux having a dificult horse, especcially when a bunch of other people are watchin! my tip- on a horse like that sit back keep all your weight down in your heels and have a little 2-point your jumping position is really nice, but on a horse like that, you dont wanna go to low, cuz that can happen
oh u wr doing soo well before! exept u could mke it more comfortable for u and ur pony by nt sitting back so early also u could of not fallen of by waiting for the horse yto take of before u fold otherwise it ws really good!!! :D
certainly you werent expecting the chip, but next time to be more careful, wait for the horse to lift his feet off the ground, and dont lean forward right before jumping.
as you have already experienced as seen in the video, you leaned a little too far forward but thats ok.
it looks like you were definetly out of balance in the air and thats why you fell (i didnt say it was your fault) next time;shoulders back, heels down and be prepared for anything XD
you were doing really good :] what i do so this wont happen or so u dont lean up the neck just sit back. get in 2 point when u feel ur pony leaving the ground. i dont worry about distances a lot all i do is count to keep my rythem becauses horses have a better eye then us :)) hope that helped!! :)
hey just a note! wait for the horse to jump up to u. not u jumping to the horse. considering the horse took a short spot, which u went to foreward instead of sitting back and lost your balance hence falling off. but good job other wise. keep those shoulders back!
Well you were doing really good until the fall...... but take ahold then squeeze with your legs to push him fowardand maybe work on yiur legs, then work in keeping his head up and collected but while pushing him foward.... i would recommend riding with a stick.[whip]
Ow, u okay? You were looking good before the fall!
Do you mind if I use this in a video I'm making? It's not a falls video, it's more about getting back up when you fall off. You will get full credit. If you'd rather I not, that's fine. Let me know ASAP! Thanks!
well the first jump is great nice fallowing are 2nd jump u got left behind a bit and the reason u fell off is because you were leaning to far forward and mabe when you hit the first in the line it threw em off balance nice job tho!!!
umm from what i seen on the vidio was that you are a great rider and the fall was not your foult... the horse left way to late so he had to pop up wirdly!!! :D great riding
Well, th horse is not supposed to decide on his own when to jump. The rider should adapt the length of the steps so that she gives the horse an ideal jumping point.
@Kindyh, you are on your way to becoming a good jumping rider. In this video you are going a little bit to slow, a bit more speed and things would go a bit more easy for you. In a diffent forum, you asked about your sits. Over the first fence you move your body perfectly!! Try to do the same every time. :-)
Wow that looked like it hurt. : L . I would have been crying because I've never fallen off a horse but, I have riden one and taken riding lessons. But unforchunetly I can't get a horse because I live in the city.
nice job. and hey dont worry, im still learning as well. im just learning to see my distances, and its not easy, cause whenever i think my horse is going to take one more step she takes off long. but great riding.
your a great rider :) and the pony is so cute my horse is 5 too and is learning how to jump also.. next time when your cantering just try and get off his back a little bit :) and stay in your two-point a little bit longer after the jump.. most people are better when you learn how to jump because they dont know how to ask for distances. so ride for the rythem of the horse instead of distances :))
The term I haven't seen is Jumping ahead. You weren't allowing the horse's motion to close your hip angle. It takes soem practise to wait for the jump, but the results do help.
I don't like the poles used as wings for the jump, they're somewhat distracting and could fall on and the horse if a rider falls off and jars the standard.
have you ever tried riding bareback? cause it makes a bond with the pony tht you wud be ridin cz they respond more 2 the commands and your closer to them :) good luck in the future(Y) xx
You ae not a bad rider, sometimes it can be hard to tell what a pony is going to do when you are jumping. You had a good canter going so it isn't your fault he stopped
i see where u went wrong, u went into your jumping position a bit too earlier which made your pony do what he did but you jumped the 1st three jumps really well :)
To me it looked like you were working on your own, rather than with the pony. For instance, you did everything right, but you did it by yourself. So when you go to the takeoff point, you put yourself in jumping position and left the pony alone. That worked fine when he happened to have the same idea, but at that jump, he put in an extra half stride. If he's unfamiliar or difficult, that would definitely contribute. Once you ride a horse/pony enough, it'll be easier to work with them. :)
My only advice is to try bounces and gymnasticks they are fun for you, your horse, they trot in so ther is no finding a distance going in and it will help with your horse backing up to the jump, picking up his feet and your position. i do them almost every day and it has really helped with my horse's speed too :) keep riding :)
Hm, I don`t know.. he acted strange. Because when we where warming up everything was fine and he didnt jump right befor the jump and not waay to early.. but thats what happened and I just have to learn from that :)
Yeah I tought he was going to do the same that he did the second jump (jump waay before the jump) and I leaned forward too early and lost my balance, as I wrote hes a difficult pony and he hasnt jumped too much.. and I think he acted alittle strange because when we where waming up he was an angel.. =/
aw youll do better next time we all have those days one time i can off 3 times in one lesson because i wasnt ready for the jump lol but i leaned from falling!! you did good with such a green and pony!
ok, not bad, but u do get ahead of ur pony a lot, you just where too far ahead to keep ur balance over that one, i can tell that the pony would do better w/ more leg, but at this time, u did a pretty good job
you threw your weight at the horse and that is why u fell and pluse you did not wait for him next time also grab mane over jump that helps me too so hope this helps
I think you couldnt of really done much else it was just a faulty jump every horse has it at some points, some more that others, apart from that, you'r a great rider and every fall makes you better and stonger!
i can really sympathize with you when it comes you riding a younger horse lacking some experience. my coach put me on a 3 year old horse, i believe. she's extremely green, and very fresh even if you haven't ridden her only for a day. i literally have to work my butt off even when it comes to bringing her down to a trot instead of a canter. and if you try tugging on her reins, she totally freaks out.. oh i could keep going.
Its really fustrating when you feel that you dont have control over the horse.. When i rode this pony I also rode a horse in dressage because they wouldnt let anybody jump with him, I had to gallop alone because he ran so fast and it was difficult to stop him. And he was so strong..
yeah he does seem like a pretty green poney..... i think that you could use some practice on a not so green pony cause that is what messed up my equtation when i first started riding. you have alot of potentioal, i would work on sitting up strait with your soilders back and your eyes up. you should also be up and out of the saddle before you go to the jump, not leaning on his neck but supporting yourself. keep up the good work!
On my riding school we dont jump too much, but I wish we could because I know I should practice on jumping :) Cause I`m a little scared after falling off so many times during jumping.
. In 2007 I had a pony who refused pretty much the whole time and after the last jumpe he ran out and i wasnt able to stop him and fell off.. Thnx for your advice :) I think it was a littlebit difficult that hes so small.. and I`m pretty tall.. And he has a short neck.. Cause I`m used to jump with taller horses and I`m not good at jumping with small horses.. as u was saying i often support myself on their neck because i find it hard to jump with small ponies:)
hehe i appsoultly hate jumping small poneys..... the trick is to not support yourself on there neck at all... even with biger horses. you have to keep a steady leg and just suspend out of the tack through out the entire coarse. and dont lean foward going over the jump at all until you are jumping over 2.6... it will take alot of practice so i would sugest a not so green small horse. I only get on small horses if there extreamly green and cant be ridden by people who fit them. hehe good luck...
Im saying that you should stay in you halfseat throughout the entire corse; when you jump small horses try not to move you body just your arms so you dont catch there mouth.
My horse is really green. I really have to over-do my position for jumping. If we are jumping 2ft, or even below that, I still have to have my position as I would when we jump 3ft or higher. All my friends do the same, and their horses are no where near green. My point is, a horse can only extend their front legs as far as their head is. And if you pull back on the horse's mouth(by not giving them enough head) they are more likely to have a knock-down, trip, or even a refusal.
So do you jump for the horse? My question is, do you sit up until the horse leaves the ground and then lean on there neak as much as possible?
What im trying to say is that you shoud keep you hands in the same postition throughout the entire corse and only rely on your leg--esspesally when doing jumpers-- this makes your releases better becasue your hand always fallows their neack so you dont catch them in the mouth.
This is what I do. My horse is 15 hands. When she leaves the ground, I get up in two-point and raise our hands over the jump as much as we can, not to catch the mouth.
yeah thats called jumping for the horse and is going to make your horse more reliant on you to hold her up so she will have a harder time jumping higher because she wont be on her haunches....
She is always on her haunches no matter what. She jumps very high for still learning with no effort what so ever.
And you know we all learn differently, and we see that you have learned differently then I have.
And I see on one of your last comments you said, 'esspesally when doing jumpers' , do you actually do Jumpers? Because mostly we do H/J and that would explain most of this.
i deffinatly agree with you; we all learn differently
yeah i do 4.6 jumpers, when i was a younger i did hunters and its not that much different except the corses are ALOT harder. you should still be pretty foward in your seat and barly touch there mouth unless they get flat.
Im sorry if i offended you, i wasnt meaning to at all.
Deffenitly not your fault he looks to be a green pony towards jumping dosn't know his strides very well and waits to long or in the 2nd jump took off to soon but you rode him nicely. Don't feel bad we've all been there done that lol.
yes, I did. I was a bit scared after falling off and jumped the three last jumps.. It went very well but he jumped ahead like he did on the second jump.. Thnx for commenting :)
Like two strides before the jump you realize you're going to have a bad stride, and you don't know whether or not your horse is going to take a big spot or throw in an extra step!!! I've never fallen off because of this, but sometimes I get left behind. Kudos to you! You took it like a toughy! :D
I tried to sit up straight but it was a bit hard. The day before the competition he was an angel.. And didnt take off that much before the jump. Don`t know why he did it that day.. :p
I hate it when horses stop then jump! Sunny has only done that once, but I can sooooooo close to falling off. My other horse Junior is fully trained and he still does that over small 2' jumps. He is trained for 4'6+ and he stops then jumps, so I feel your pain. Hope you were alright. :] Keep up the good work, the other jumps looked every nice! :D
Yeah, it gets easier to ride the more it happens. Sunny takes off really far away (like the pony your were riding did at one jump) and I used to just fling in the air and just go up and land hard, but now im able to two point it all the way through like nothing was wrong.
On Turkey Day I fell off of Sunny when he jumped down a hill (2'-3' drop) and then he took off full speed because one of my friends riding another horse started to trot. I was crying in pain for an hour it hurt so bad :(
OMG i hate when they do that! i'm currently half training a 4 yr old mare and sometimes she takes the jumps from too far back. so i think she'll take the next one like that so i got a bit a head of her. i didnt fall off, i just go unbalanced.
well, you should count down strides. 3,2,1. and thn you will know when to two-point(jumping posittion). and grab mane! no matter how good you are, grab mane over the jump, then about a stride after the landing, let go. :)
You looked really nice up until the second jump. He hesitated, and then overjumped it. That can easily be fixed over time but I would encourage a crop or spurs. I use stubben spurs and they work quite nicely if I may say so.
The only thing I really saw wrong is this: I think you should trot jumps a little bit longer. After the jumps you tend to fall back and pull the reins back. That can be harmful to the horse's mouth.
What I try to do is stay in two-point a little more than I would with lets say, Rain. If I was jumping Velvet I would stay up a little longer since you drop back faster as the horse/pony gets smaller.
yeah i know but he use to take long jumps.. and jump waay ahead.. and im not always prepared because sometimes he jumps "the way he should". and its hard to tell when he takes long jumps. thats the reason i fell off and thats the reason why i drop back..
The first jump looked really nice. I used to ride a pony who would always get these really long distances. You just gotta sit back and wait for the jump to come, ride up to the base and then move forward as the horse does, grab mane and hang on!
haha! i can see why you fell, but you were right, youy folded too early. my pony does that too, pauses before jumps, so i only fold when he's taken off...saves embarresment!!haha but good riding otherwise xx
yh i agreee with hunterjumper1234 it is WAYYYY harder to jump a pony too small for you wen yurr used to riding horses tht are your size you have to make sure u dnt over fold on a smaller pony dw i fell off a 12.2 pony coz i over folded it happens lol xx
The first jump went pretty well but the other where not so good x) Ponies jump different than horses too x) The horse on the video took small high jumps or very long jumps and its hard to know when hes jumping and i stood up long before the pony x)
Listen, the best way to have this not happen is wait until your pony's feet start coming up off the ground BEFORE you go into your two-point position. DO NOT go into your half seat til he pops up, that way, you wont be left behind or shoved forward. Stay way back on your butt bones, shoulders wayyy back... and THEN when hes starting to come up, you go forward. Hope this helps! Good luck.
Its ok ... you just jumped ahead... everyone does it at some point in their lives! LOL. but that pony looks like he takes such good care of you. i bet he's so good.
he hasnt jumped too much but hes still very good and he always jumps, its just that he runs really fast and then he jumpes really good too but when he does that hes kinda hard to control. On the video you see that he runs really slow and i didnt want to push him cus i didnt want to "not have control over him" and then he jumped a little weird. But i learned soo much from him :)
Aw, your a great rider by the looks of it. And this is a lovely horse to. Keep on riding, you are brilliant xxxx

I think your horse was a little bit sleeping...
You have to make him actif.
But that will not say that you have to let him go...
Do you know what i mean?
And you have to wait till your horse jump.
When you stand to early your horse can't jump like it is supposed to be.
But it's much easyer to say what you have to do then doing it.
xx

He took of a bit late and u didnt go with him =) xx
h0r53s 2 years ago
Yeah I tought he was going to do the same that he did the second jump (jump waay before the jump) and I leaned forward too early and lost my balance, as I wrote hes a difficult pony and he hasnt jumped too much.. and I think he acted alittle strange because when we where waming up he was an angel.. =/

thats what i did, but i broke my elbow!

I would say that you hollow your chest a bit and round your shoulders. So remember to sit up tall and keep your shoulders back :)

I heard that from my teatcher too:) thnx for your comment :)

Thnx for your comment:) Im glad you understand.
Kindyh 2 years ago
Thnx, Im glad to hear that:)
Kindyh 2 years ago
You rode him really well, its obvious he's green and well done for getting back on after falling off 5 times xx
katiemelissax 2 years ago
Thank you :)
Kindyh 2 years ago
ok, not bad, but u do get ahead of ur pony a lot, you just where too far ahead to keep ur balance over that one, i can tell that the pony would do better w/ more leg, but at this time, u did a pretty good job
Karavista 2 years ago
I know i got ahead but i think its because hes small. You dont know the pony.. And i know if he got more leg i wouldnt be able to handle him..
Kindyh 2 years ago
ya, i don't know him, but from my view, thats what it looked like, and if you can't handle him w/ more leg, than thats something u can work on
Karavista 2 years ago
you threw your weight at the horse and that is why u fell and pluse you did not wait for him next time also grab mane over jump that helps me too so hope this helps
BreyerKrazy 2 years ago
it looks like he might have landed on the wrong lead and was off balance
Hpiddy645 2 years ago
just a bad stride. tht will improve as you go. you will learn to decide the stride. jst remember dont jump before the horse
ihaveachestnutter 2 years ago
just keep yur heels down alot more and be prepared for anything, espiecaly a pony tht has a reputation to refuse =]
horsechampion78 2 years ago
I think you couldnt of really done much else it was just a faulty jump every horse has it at some points, some more that others, apart from that, you'r a great rider and every fall makes you better and stonger!
BlueRider95 3 years ago
that was good! :)
i can really sympathize with you when it comes you riding a younger horse lacking some experience. my coach put me on a 3 year old horse, i believe. she's extremely green, and very fresh even if you haven't ridden her only for a day. i literally have to work my butt off even when it comes to bringing her down to a trot instead of a canter. and if you try tugging on her reins, she totally freaks out.. oh i could keep going.
but you did really well!
keep up the good work! :D
TearDropForLove 3 years ago
Thnx for your understanding =D
Its really fustrating when you feel that you dont have control over the horse.. When i rode this pony I also rode a horse in dressage because they wouldnt let anybody jump with him, I had to gallop alone because he ran so fast and it was difficult to stop him. And he was so strong..
Kindyh 3 years ago
well good job riding him ! :D
yeeess, it gets very annoying when you can't control them!
oh boooyyyyy.. but it makes us better riders! :)
TearDropForLove 3 years ago
yeah he does seem like a pretty green poney..... i think that you could use some practice on a not so green pony cause that is what messed up my equtation when i first started riding. you have alot of potentioal, i would work on sitting up strait with your soilders back and your eyes up. you should also be up and out of the saddle before you go to the jump, not leaning on his neck but supporting yourself. keep up the good work!
s0spence 3 years ago
On my riding school we dont jump too much, but I wish we could because I know I should practice on jumping :) Cause I`m a little scared after falling off so many times during jumping.
Kindyh 3 years ago
Kindyh 3 years ago
hehe i appsoultly hate jumping small poneys..... the trick is to not support yourself on there neck at all... even with biger horses. you have to keep a steady leg and just suspend out of the tack through out the entire coarse. and dont lean foward going over the jump at all until you are jumping over 2.6... it will take alot of practice so i would sugest a not so green small horse. I only get on small horses if there extreamly green and cant be ridden by people who fit them. hehe good luck...
s0spence 3 years ago
So you mean i shouldnt lean forward over the jump if im jumping under 2.6?
Kindyh 3 years ago
No not exactly,
Im saying that you should stay in you halfseat throughout the entire corse; when you jump small horses try not to move you body just your arms so you dont catch there mouth.
s0spence 3 years ago
@ s0spence
My horse is really green. I really have to over-do my position for jumping. If we are jumping 2ft, or even below that, I still have to have my position as I would when we jump 3ft or higher. All my friends do the same, and their horses are no where near green. My point is, a horse can only extend their front legs as far as their head is. And if you pull back on the horse's mouth(by not giving them enough head) they are more likely to have a knock-down, trip, or even a refusal.
thechestnutpony 3 years ago
So do you jump for the horse? My question is, do you sit up until the horse leaves the ground and then lean on there neak as much as possible?
What im trying to say is that you shoud keep you hands in the same postition throughout the entire corse and only rely on your leg--esspesally when doing jumpers-- this makes your releases better becasue your hand always fallows their neack so you dont catch them in the mouth.
s0spence 3 years ago
This is what I do. My horse is 15 hands. When she leaves the ground, I get up in two-point and raise our hands over the jump as much as we can, not to catch the mouth.
thechestnutpony 3 years ago
yeah thats called jumping for the horse and is going to make your horse more reliant on you to hold her up so she will have a harder time jumping higher because she wont be on her haunches....
s0spence 3 years ago
She is always on her haunches no matter what. She jumps very high for still learning with no effort what so ever.
And you know we all learn differently, and we see that you have learned differently then I have.
And I see on one of your last comments you said, 'esspesally when doing jumpers' , do you actually do Jumpers? Because mostly we do H/J and that would explain most of this.
thechestnutpony 3 years ago
i deffinatly agree with you; we all learn differently
yeah i do 4.6 jumpers, when i was a younger i did hunters and its not that much different except the corses are ALOT harder. you should still be pretty foward in your seat and barly touch there mouth unless they get flat.
Im sorry if i offended you, i wasnt meaning to at all.
s0spence 3 years ago
Thnx for your understanding:)
I think its because hes so young.. And he hasnt jumped that much:)
Kindyh 3 years ago
Deffenitly not your fault he looks to be a green pony towards jumping dosn't know his strides very well and waits to long or in the 2nd jump took off to soon but you rode him nicely. Don't feel bad we've all been there done that lol.
Katsportsfreak 3 years ago
that wasn't ur fault. you did a good job!
hope u were ok
mabye next time you'll have better luck
suppose we all have to have a tumble some day!

I were okay. :)
Kindyh 3 years ago
yes, I did. I was a bit scared after falling off and jumped the three last jumps.. It went very well but he jumped ahead like he did on the second jump.. Thnx for commenting :)
Kindyh 3 years ago
Did you get back on after and jump it again?? Hope yo u did :) No one can critasize this coz every1 had their bad days!! this happend to me b4 :)

Yeah i like it too, then you can see yourself while youre ridning:) But its not where i use to ride.. Where i ride we dont have mirrors:(
Thanx for your comment :)

Thnx for your comment:)
Kindyh 3 years ago
I hate it when that happens! ;P
Like two strides before the jump you realize you're going to have a bad stride, and you don't know whether or not your horse is going to take a big spot or throw in an extra step!!! I've never fallen off because of this, but sometimes I get left behind. Kudos to you! You took it like a toughy! :D
Sirennah 3 years ago
Yeah.. I think its hard to tell when hes going to do it.. But i dont know what went wrong that day.. on the jumping lession he acted so good :p
But shit happends xD

I tried to sit up straight but it was a bit hard. The day before the competition he was an angel.. And didnt take off that much before the jump. Don`t know why he did it that day.. :p

ouch, I didnt see anything wrong with ur postion or anything, good job,

Kindyh 3 years ago
I hate it when horses stop then jump! Sunny has only done that once, but I can sooooooo close to falling off. My other horse Junior is fully trained and he still does that over small 2' jumps. He is trained for 4'6+ and he stops then jumps, so I feel your pain. Hope you were alright. :] Keep up the good work, the other jumps looked every nice! :D
SunnyNerissa 3 years ago
Thnx for your understanding :).
Its annoying when they do that especially when yourè not prepared..:P
We both were fine i just hurted my head and back a bit.
Kindyh 3 years ago
Yeah, it gets easier to ride the more it happens. Sunny takes off really far away (like the pony your were riding did at one jump) and I used to just fling in the air and just go up and land hard, but now im able to two point it all the way through like nothing was wrong.
On Turkey Day I fell off of Sunny when he jumped down a hill (2'-3' drop) and then he took off full speed because one of my friends riding another horse started to trot. I was crying in pain for an hour it hurt so bad :(
SunnyNerissa 3 years ago
Im used to ride horses not small ponies.. Because hes to little to me :p
Someday I`ll learn to do that to x)
Aw, hope you`re okay now?
Kindyh 3 years ago
You will fast if you ride a horse that takes off far away. Sunny HATES to take half strides :p
Yeah, I better, it only hurts when I fall down, haha.
SunnyNerissa 3 years ago
Yes, you can :)
Kindyh 3 years ago
Would you let me know when its done? :)
Kindyh 3 years ago
OMG i hate when they do that! i'm currently half training a 4 yr old mare and sometimes she takes the jumps from too far back. so i think she'll take the next one like that so i got a bit a head of her. i didnt fall off, i just go unbalanced.
jackiesps6 3 years ago
Thnx for your understanding :)
Kindyh 3 years ago
yeah i know but he use to jump way before and sometimes he waits.. Because he hasnt jumped too much.. so its difficult to know when he jumps.
Kindyh 3 years ago
well, you should count down strides. 3,2,1. and thn you will know when to two-point(jumping posittion). and grab mane! no matter how good you are, grab mane over the jump, then about a stride after the landing, let go. :)
abb106 3 years ago
Thnx, for the comment, he use to overjump x)
Kindyh 3 years ago
You looked really nice up until the second jump. He hesitated, and then overjumped it. That can easily be fixed over time but I would encourage a crop or spurs. I use stubben spurs and they work quite nicely if I may say so.
rodeoqueenie 3 years ago
Thanx, i think so too.. It went soo well and after the first jump it just went down xD
Its not my horse but thanx for the tip! :)
Kindyh 3 years ago
The only thing I really saw wrong is this: I think you should trot jumps a little bit longer. After the jumps you tend to fall back and pull the reins back. That can be harmful to the horse's mouth.
KateAndVay 3 years ago
yea, i know but im not used to jump with small ponies.. you see that hes too little for me and that makes it more difficult..
Kindyh 3 years ago
Yeah, true.
What I try to do is stay in two-point a little more than I would with lets say, Rain. If I was jumping Velvet I would stay up a little longer since you drop back faster as the horse/pony gets smaller.
KateAndVay 3 years ago
yeah i know but he use to take long jumps.. and jump waay ahead.. and im not always prepared because sometimes he jumps "the way he should". and its hard to tell when he takes long jumps. thats the reason i fell off and thats the reason why i drop back..
Kindyh 3 years ago
haha i did this before i like jumped ahead but my horse refused and i fell! lol great vid =]
KristinaLea715 3 years ago
Thanx for your comment :)
Kindyh 3 years ago
The first jump looked really nice. I used to ride a pony who would always get these really long distances. You just gotta sit back and wait for the jump to come, ride up to the base and then move forward as the horse does, grab mane and hang on!
Equuestriaan 3 years ago
Thnx for your comment :) and for your tip.
Kindyh 3 years ago
haha! i can see why you fell, but you were right, youy folded too early. my pony does that too, pauses before jumps, so i only fold when he's taken off...saves embarresment!!haha but good riding otherwise xx
calagasxx 3 years ago
yh i agreee with hunterjumper1234 it is WAYYYY harder to jump a pony too small for you wen yurr used to riding horses tht are your size you have to make sure u dnt over fold on a smaller pony dw i fell off a 12.2 pony coz i over folded it happens lol xx
xxxChRiSsIe1993xxx 3 years ago
Thnx for your understanding:)
The first jump went pretty well but the other where not so good x) Ponies jump different than horses too x) The horse on the video took small high jumps or very long jumps and its hard to know when hes jumping and i stood up long before the pony x)
Kindyh 3 years ago
Youre welcome :)
Kindyh 3 years ago
Yes you can :)

I think you are a good rider^^ I hope you and your pony are ok?
Heyhoo1992 3 years ago
Thnx :) Yea, my back and my head hurted a bit but we are okay ^^
Kindyh 3 years ago
one reason could be that they put you on a horse that is too small for you.
HunterJumper1234 3 years ago
I know, usally i dont have problems with jumping.. but it was fun jumping that pony anyway:)
Kindyh 3 years ago
ouch i hope ur ok i love ur horse
262horses262 3 years ago
Hes not mine :), we both where okay ^^
Kindyh 3 years ago
Listen, the best way to have this not happen is wait until your pony's feet start coming up off the ground BEFORE you go into your two-point position. DO NOT go into your half seat til he pops up, that way, you wont be left behind or shoved forward. Stay way back on your butt bones, shoulders wayyy back... and THEN when hes starting to come up, you go forward. Hope this helps! Good luck.

Omg ur a awell gd ridder i whould hav fallen off on most off them espelly no 2 thts y i got a boomproof 1

Thnx :) yea, hes a bit difficult to ride. since he hasnt jumped too much and hes very young. :)
Kindyh 3 years ago
yea you just jumped ahead a bit. it happens :)
rachel51893 3 years ago
I wish i didnt fall off, but it was difficult to know when he jumpes at first i tought that he would refuse and sometimes he takes a big long jump x)
Kindyh 3 years ago
yea i have the same thing lol. except for i have to wonder whether or not London will take a long spot, or chip in lol
rachel51893 3 years ago
Its ok ... you just jumped ahead... everyone does it at some point in their lives! LOL. but that pony looks like he takes such good care of you. i bet he's so good.
sunsetfarm60 3 years ago
he hasnt jumped too much but hes still very good and he always jumps, its just that he runs really fast and then he jumpes really good too but when he does that hes kinda hard to control. On the video you see that he runs really slow and i didnt want to push him cus i didnt want to "not have control over him" and then he jumped a little weird. But i learned soo much from him :)
