some ppl adopt internationally because it is easier, cheaper, and less time consuming than it is in America. I have only heard about that I do not know about it first or second hand. I think people should adopt more state side versus international.
the wonder is how easy it is for these ppl to be approved for adoption. it used to be a very prestige sort of process to determine proper parents for kids and now there are ppl like jolie who is a proven home-wrecker, unmarried with a questionable mental state (looking back on how she used to wear her mans blood on a necklace in a vile around her neck). who deemed her fit for parenthood? to multiple kids no less
everyone's inentions may not be good but whatever the intention for the adoption may be, if they go through with it thats the blessing. if you end up with a blessing all else is irrelevant really.
I'm going to adopt some children in the future. And I just wanted to say that I don't care where the child is from. It doesn't matter where they live. I'm not gonna adopt a child from where I live just because that's where I live. I'll be adopting a child that I connect with and want to be my child. Nothing else matters. Adopting is a good thing, no matter where it's done.
I work as a behavior therapist for the LA School District. Many of my clients are under the foster care system. It is very sad but I don't think children in other countries have the luxury of having one on one therapists. I am starting to do research on adopting children. I am Mex/Amer. I am thinking of going out of the country and adopting a girl from Mexico and a boy from Africa. I am loving it!
Theskorpionshow, ask yourself this, just imagine if two of your nieces or nephews were placed in different countries, one in Africa and one in the U.S.A. and you had the choice of only one getting the opportunity for adoption that would provide full American rights, which one would you choose to be adopted out and why? One of them would have to land up staying in the orphanage or in the U.S foster care system.
Whats interesting to think about is the two different points of view and conflicting inside battles. I mean on the one hand, yeah they have it bad, but who are we to take them and say our way of life is better, we can save them and make them better? When you go to a third world country for volunteer work, your not there to make miracles, only to help. Then again, Adopting outside of America, were theyre unlikely to get help anyway, you can give them another chance.
I would suggest for Americans to go to an information meeting regarding adopting children in your state. If your willing to take some risks of being a FOSTER parent first, by all means, adopt an American child first. For me, adopting a toddler is in my best interest, and trust me, their are NOT a lot of children under school age awaiting adoption in the U.S. Expecting an actor/celebrity to pursue foster-adoption is unrealistic.
@DCan1245 in general wouldnt it be nice if a large portion of the state budget went towards things like that? Foster care and such, a better state system for in-transition kids? Theres alot that can be done in that area dont you agree?
im not reallly sure because there are ppl here in america that need us but then again haiti reely needs us caus they pretty much hav nothing now so if i were an adult i probably would adopt a child from haiti just to giv them a home a warm bed and stuff they dont have now
i dont see trina adopting either, and trina and beyonce are VERY different. and i dont think it matters where u adopt 4rm as long as u and that child share a special bond that cant b broken
A child is a child. I don't care if they are from Timbuketoo or United States. If I want to adopt a child that I connect with and has touched my heart I will adopt them.
I guess i would adopt a child out of the country but then again there's also so many children that need to be adopted in the united states so I think id adopt here in america but yeah I think its a good thing rather its here or out of the country
i also want to add, that my husband and i not only talk about adopting, but that we would adopt a school age child (because statistically the only children that are adopted are under the age of 2). So, we thought then it seems like anyone older than that basically stays in the system and that's unfortunate. we want to know that we've touched an older child so that he/she realizes that he/she is wanted and he/she is loved. we're thinking about adopting a child between the age of 4-7.
Probably because when they visit those places the see first hand how worse they have it,like we hear about it but experiencing it first hand is different. Like others said, they have it worse in those countries but still I would like for them to adopt more American children also. All the kiddies in the world need love. :)
Oh and Trina wants to adopt a Haitian child............ okay.
i would never consider adopting a child from the US..we have everything, while so many innocent children are suffering with no clean water and food around the world
and as for trina adopting I hope and pray that she's doing it for the right reasons I don't believe she wanted to adopt a child from haiti until all of this stuff happened to them and that's sad
I plan to adopt one day and when I do I will be adopting one that's from the u.s. even though I know it's more expensive I think the easiest way and the cheapest is to become a foster parent and then adopt that child my dad & step mom started off as foster parents and then they adopted her and it worked for them and I plan on taking care of " Home " first before I go else where
international adaption is cheaper than american adaption---less rules and its also quicker.
American adaption is expensive---depending what race you want(because blacks are cheap, and mixes even cheaper) you could pay 20k for a white kid ans 10k for a black one....pretty f-ed up uh?
I would probably adapt a black american or go abroad.
idek! i'd prolly adopt from here because it would be less of a hassle! it does get on ym nerve when all these celebs go adopting from another country like its some damn trend! theres plenty of children that need parents here, but i guess some people feel that they have an "obligation" to go elsewhere! over it!
thats bull that see only focuses on girls because everyone needs help so what u are not a boy help every one just cuz u dnt know what its like to be a boy u dnt help boys doesnt make since if every one thought like that people would not be helped now
My wife and I have recently adopted a child and could not look beyond my own city to find a child.
However, children from other countries experience poverty that we cannot even imagine. So I can't knock the people who choose international adoption.
The bigger question is why don't more people adopt PERIOD. You don't have to be rich or famous to adopt a foster child he in the U.S. Believe me, we are neither.
As far as Trina wanting to adopt a child from Haiti.. i guess people really don't think about helping until its actually brought to there attention; I agree with Kevin on this topic... I think you should take care of "home" before you go trying to take care things elsewhere, not saying that it's not okay, but I just think home should come first. I would like to hear how yall feel about gay/lesbians/transgender couples adopting kids???
like we are the riches country and all yet we owe zillions of dollars to other countries bcuz of wars..but even though other countries are worst off but the ones here aren't so great themselves...so like but sides have good points but I would adopt from this country just :)
Some celeb need to understand that the children outside america are not toys or pet.Really some celeb like attention and they go to the extreme to get that attention
Thanks for giving the entertainment a rest. LOL. But I would consider adopting a child somewhere in my near future of course. I think you should follow your heart on what child your heart pulls you toward. For me personally I would most likely do an American child.
my mother is adopted and i just think its wonderful that someone is willing to undertake such a great responsibility. one thing i wish people would really consider tho is to adopt not a baby but an older child. a lot of people want a baby cause its just easier than to rauise an older child who has likely experienced a lot more hardship but those older kids and teens need good homes and love too. maybe that could be a follow up vid, whether to adopt a baby or an older child?
i guess its okay, i mean a lot of third world kids need a lot of help, but i would rather adopt a kid in america, cause lord knows there are needy kids here too. i mean we have more money here, but foster care is no picnic and orphans and kids who live in broken homes in america face a lot of hardship as well. so i dont know; both sides have some valid points but personally i would adopt and american child and take them out of a bad situation.
i agree with Oprah. The children in Africa have it worse then children in America. I hate when people critize Oprah for building her school in South Africa, and not here when they know that we have free education in the United States
I am not saying noone should adopt American children. i am agreeing with Oprah, because the children in Africa, India, Haiti etc.. have it harder which is a fact. we have welfare, section 8, public school for everyone, finnacial aid for college students who apply, book vochers, food pantrys, food stamps, free breakfast/luch for public school children, free health clinics, medicaid, acs, running water(that's decent) child labor laws
I have always wanted toadopt every since I was little girl. I believe EVRYBODY deserves a shot at a great life. I plan on being a VERY famous filmmaker so w/my career I can take care of severals kids that's another reason why I wanted to adopt. Honestly I wanted 2-3 adopted children and honestly I really do like the idea of adopting outside the U.S. If Iadopt in the U.S. I want an oprhan because some parents will try 2 use u have u paying doctor bills then at the end keep the child!!!Just MO!!!
This is a good topic cus I kno um gonna adopt sometimes down the road but I am considering sponsoring at 22 years of age
Neways Trina portrays a bad attitude n let's not forget the baddest bitch of Miami lol but watch her interviews she's avreal nice ladies n wat better way to give back with ur Money besides buying 2 houses n a 200,000 thousand D. Car
My brother is adopted but we werent planning on adopting him! Lol!
It's all just based on the heart... i was raised in africa half of my life because im a missionary kid (yeah Drag me to africa 4 6 years dad) Adopting is just another word for love and sometimes people overlook that...
Most celebs are adopting like it's some new exotic handbag...it's popular to adopt black babies and exploit them to the poporazzi like they are clothing, then they are doing it for attracting all races and using the children to stay relevant,. None of them are sincere until they get to the point to love the child but initially it's for personal gain of attention.
I dont care where u get a child from as long as your helping someone....how can anyone question anyone else about something they are doing out of the goodness of your heart...if u have a problem u do something to help an american child and leave me with my african baby....lol
wELL IF A CHILD IS ABANDONED IN the US then the government takes them as their child and give them a home with food and shelter, etc. In poor countrys the child usually dies if the parent dies or if their neglected. children in poor countries dont have no back up plan, we do
@africanbootychick Exactly, that's how I feel too. Neglected children here will still fair off better than one in a poor country, so I can understand trying to help the child who needs it a lil more.
More than half of the adults in Haiti are dead or severely injured. People from all over the world will be most likely adopting from Haiti at this point. Just because people decide to adopt from other countries, don't mean American kids are not being adopted. Why do people get mad when Americans help outside the country anyway, were all humans on the same damn planet. Why not come together and help each other and make it a better place!
I believe Oprah donates to those young girls because let's face it African Americans in America don't appreciate anything. You give a book to a child and they want something expensive. You give a child in Africa a book and they appreciate it.
And why all of a sudden people want to adopt children from Haiti? The plight of Haiti is now in the limelight. Haiti has been impoverished since they gained independence from the French. Now people recognize the country and want to have a heart??
I honestly think people, or at least some people adopt from other countries because the process is faster, but I believe there is a reason that the process is so long in the US and that the parents adopting US children are put through a tougher screening process
I feel like we need to work on adopting kids in our own country before we bring new children into the country, there are so many kids who are hurting for the love of a parent
I personally never understood why celebs like Angelina and Madonna went out of the country to adopt children. I understand that most of them are from poor nations and all that, but i know first hand that America has its share of filled foster homes. On the other hand, the adoption process in America is brutal. Sometimes it takes years to be approved for an adoption, where in other countries it may be easier.
What i meant to say was i think yall touched on a very good subject we need to focus on the kids right here in our own backyard yes if you a celeb an got millions to spend on them and what not then yea go for it adopt 6 kids but damm make 3 of the 6 be from here in america we have so many lil angels right here yes i do understand the situattion in hatti
but every time something happens in another counrty we run and help but who is helping us we have people on the streets people who had jobs and homes and familys but now due to the economy are living shelter to shelter we just nee to focus on us ..now im not say dnt help out in other places but we need to help our fellow americans when 9-11 happend what country came to our rescue and sent there troops here to us to help ? no one wen the oklahma city boming happend who sent help no one but when
anything happens in other place we send our men and women to fight and help and leave their kids, wifes, husbands, mothers brothes sisters and fathers and go and some lose thier life in the battle but yet we cant help people in our own backyard its a lil crazy if you ask me
Makael that is a good question about Trina. If she did not have it on her heart to want to adopt and be a mother before the earthquake why now? Being a mother is no joke and in dealing wtih a foster child most of the time the children have been through a lot of tragic situations already. If Trina is not willing to be a good role model and give 110% of her time to that child I don't think her adopting would be a good idea. Having a child is not like buying a Gucci bag.
I think we have our own problems here in America as far as misplaced children. We need to help other country's in need but we also need to put our main focus on our youth of America who need our help as well.
Who are you to tell someone where to adopt a child. They are the ones who will be raising the child, not you. So who are we to tell anyone what country to adopt a child. Its always those who have not adopted a single child that want to preach to others where they should adopt.
Well i think anyone who wants to adopt should look for a child domestically 1st.but the reason y ppl dnt is b/c of there is always a threat of the biological parent(s) coming back to claim their child(ren) which is a problem that does not exists whn u go international....Oprah is a bit ignorant n the reposnse b/c our government does not take care of ophraned or neglected childern but take thm out of "negative" situations..but either way adoption is VERY expensive so if u got and wnt 2do it do it
I see where you are coming from Skorpion especially when you used the analogy about the in home case. However, i also understand Makael because a lot of these 3rd world countries dont have the clothing and food that our fostercare agencies provide the children with here. At the end of the day its a really touchy subject. I just want these celebraties to be adopting with their hearts and not make it about who looks better.
I have no problem with adopting children from another country or another race. But I do have an issue with celebrities adopting these children to get publicity. I do believe that Angelina Jolie's heart is in the right place but I question Madonna's motives especially since it's been reported that she spends very little time with her own children.
I think to adopt a child from another poor country has the advantage for the child because it gets the offer to live out of poverty. but on the other side to adopt a black child as a whit person means also the black child is going to raise with a family which is at least phenotypically different, so it will have the lack of allegiance and thats a matter of fact. in my opinion, you should adopt kids from your country instead of from outside and fight against poverty so they can live a normal life
but then a same question is why shouldnt she adopt a child from haiti now?? adopting a child is adopting child, regardless of the circumstances still still a selfless decision as long as the person is right in the head
The government in america has the means to take care of the kids in america??.. true but i dont think thats why oprah dont support the kids here, i think she thinks deep down in her heart that the young girls from africa would be more appreciative of the help given to them and use it to their advantage than the black girls in america, i mean.. we have plenty of opportunities as black ppl and we fail 2 use them. for example we can sit in front of the bus now but blk ppl still go 2 the back, why?
In places like Russia, France, etc. the kids are more likely to be used as prostitutes and get lost in the system.. true. I cant see trina as a mother, sorry.. im trying but maybe if she get her own child and carry it for 9months.. her bonding with the child and wanting one, ill take her more serious. and Oprah response on only taking care of african young girls.. i understand to some extent, because in africa if u are a woman men feel superior over u in several different ways.
It cost just as much to adopt a kid overseas as it does in america, but overseas they give up the child easier because they dont do the background check like they do in america, but yet kids in america who grow up in adoption agencies who've been in home to home talks about how they still get sexual abused and mistreated which is sad.
I think it would of been valuable to discuss what you have to do to adopt a child in America. There are a lot of couples that go through so much red tape to adopt a child and there's the financial element. Adopting is expensive. It's not that people don't want to adopt within their own country, it's just that they have to go through so much to do so. Most times it's easier to adopt from another country than it is to adopt in your own.
Loved this topic, yall should do a part two of it and have a special guest. I can see where Kevin is coming from when he questions why people adopt children from other countries but not ones from here. As far as Trina, I think that what she does on stage may be a reflection of who she is as a person because when you are a music artist the music that you produce is a creative expression of who you are, so personally if I worked at an adoption agency and I heard her music I wouldn't let her adopt.
The same way Oprah catered to young girls is the same way Michael Jackson catered to young boys. They can relate more to feelings they had as children and I get that
European Americans do that all the time...many go to China and adopt a child instead of adopting an American child...I have no problem w/ people adopting children as long as they teach the children their true history
I agree with Kevin and Makael about caring for the children in your own country. But also, I think celebrities such as Angelina are more wordly people. She adopted her son after she visited Cambodia and saw first hand how poor the people were...And for Trina, I understand why she wants to adopt a haitian child now. After seeing the devastation from the earthquake, she wants to do something to help. So many children are without a home. It's never to late to wake up and help somebody.
I would definitely think about here before another country. Everybody wants to go outside of the country without thinking about the problems we have here first. I'm not knocking anybody that adopts in other countries. More power to them, but what about the millions of kids in America who don't families and get lost in the system.
As for Trina, bye girl fly girl. I'm sorry, I just don't see her being anybody's mother. It sounds like she just thought of this on whim and ran with it.
I think it is great that Trina wants to adopt a child Haiti. She is older now and has money and Im sure the child would be well cared for. Trina lives in Miami which is close to Haiti. A lot of Haitians live in FL, so maybe this has impacted her. It would be good could to see a black person adopting from Haiti, all I have seen are whites adopting from Haiti on T.V. Which is also great. Adoption is a blessing.
Makael, thank you for sticking up for Britney! She was a mother at 23 in front of the world, of course she made mistakes. Kevin, i can't believe you were putting her down like that.
Honestly, i would adopt a child from any country. However, our government has enough money and resources to support our children, most third world countries do not.
yeah... A lot of people get offended when celebrities adopt outside of their home countries but I don't get wdf the dilemma is. Kids are kids. Adoption is adoption.
I can't stand folks who say stupid things like "white people shouldn't adopt black kids". That is complete b.s. So long as those children are being LOVED and CARED for I don't see what the big deal is. There are a hell of alot of black kids adopted by white families and they are doing ahell of alot better than alot of black kids with their bio black parents so spare me. Also, if it wasn't for those "white's adopting blk kids" most of those blk kids wouldnt be adopted b/c black ppl rarely adopt.
I think celebrities adopt children outside of the country, because they travel all over the world. And maybe they get to see the conditions in other countries and how far worse they are than America. Like in the countries that yall named, Cambodia, S. Africa, etc. I know a lot of people that are not celebrities that adopt children in America. I agree with both points on both sides.
I think they should adopt in America first especially the rich....just because the system takes care of them doesn't mean that they are getting the love they need. But I also feel that if they want to help children in other countries that's fine to. I'm just tired of non blacks adopting kids they don't know how to properly care for....Most adopted black kids with adoptive parents suffer from a lot of bad hair days if you know what I mean.
Domcartel isn't that the truth, lol....but to shamika I wasn't saying that non blacks shouldn't adopt black kids....I just wish when they do adopt our black babies they learn how to care for them. Unfortunately in our system even when blacks try to adopt it's especially hard for them cause this system is set up against the blacks adopting from my experience. Besides we don't know what's going on in the homes of the adopters, we can only hope for the best.
trina is like that all the time though. beyonce is sasha on stage n she really is a different person in real life than what she is on the stage and videos.
i agree with the other people commenting. yes our government has soo many programs and things here for poor people. welfare shelters food stamps medicad and things like that. we have fincial aid that pays for kids to go to college. i think americans should adopt outside the country or where they can possible. god bless the for adopting at all.
The important thing is to adopt a child regardless or race, country or origin etc. A child is a child and havign said that, if they are withouth parents or a home, then if someone from another country feels the need to adopt them and do so legally and under the right terms, then I dont think someone should be judged for that.
--------------------------------------
However, you made a valid point, there are many many many many many kids here that needs a home, family, parents etc.
OPRAH DONATED 10 Million Dollars to Morehouse College in ATL. Morehouse is a leading institution in America that educated men and particularly black men.
American kids may have some sort of money to sustain them untill they are 18 (clothing, food, school fee etc) where's countries in African, Caribbean, Asia etc, may not have the same funds towards orphaned children. Some are living on less that $10 a YR in filth! You can make it in USA.
You should adopt kids from whatever background. All children need homes.
Oprah makes a valid point in the way that, American orphans go through much less than that of a developing country's orphanage. They're not fiscally supported in any way. American orphans get free medical care, free clothes, and etc. Those girls Oprah helps get nothing. And in other orphanages, girls in particular, are often mistreated and abused.
Opray gives money to everybody. Africa needs schools and any other asistance they can get. We do live in the richest country in the world. Education is free here and millions of kids drop out and don't take advantage of it. Oprah is very generous. And, I feel that people can adopt anywhere they want too. It doesn't matter where they come from, they're children that need love and care.
BTW, Today I was thinking and I weighed the options of adopting first or having my own....adoption won. I will be rolling the ball in the next few weeks.
One more thing. I see that people are saying, ADOPT here in the States. I bet you majority of them haven't PRACTICED WHAT THEY PREACH and have fostered or adopted a child here.
I THINK its ok to adopt a child out of America because america is very financial in taking care of children in orphanages they have food every day and are clothed relatively well.
i think people hate that 'STARS" adopt children from other countries and stuff because their is poverty here in america and the stars are failing to see how bad it is they look over it i guess cause they have it so good
Being a single adoptive/foster parent of 6 is no joke. All of my kids are of different races. You wouldn't believe how people from my own race have constantly asked why don't I just adopt "Black" kids. My response, the kids don't care who adopts or fosters them, they just want to be loved. Thank you for posting this video. You just barely touched this sensitive topic. Hope there's more to come. Keep up the good work!!!!
Kevin & Makael...I totally agree with you both. I believe that you should take care of ya home first, then go outside. Um, people are worried about the US children are homeless or what not...but still & yet they are forgetting about them and helping other children.
i love what angelina & brad are doing. why? when you bring people of different backgrounds together, it makes you appreciate someone's culture more. you create friendships and loving ties between races & cultures. there is less racism & more open-mindedness. when you put little kids of different backgrounds together, they don't discriminate cause of where someone is from or how they look. they all play together. when we do more of this, we are creating better generations.
generally it takes a long time to adopt in america. it is much easier to adopt out of the country. I truly think outside of country is better. THey will be grateful if theyre adopted. in america they wont they will try and search for their family. people in other countries dont have the money to support foster kids. america does.
I thank you guys for discussing this important topic. I donate money to an orphanage in Atlanta whenever I can, and it makes me feel so good every time I send them something because the kids there are so precious. It breaks my heart to see kids without a family or parent.
I do wish people would think of adopting in America first. I know it is much easier to get a BABY to adopt if you go outside the US and many people want a baby. But older kids need homes so badly and I pray more people will consider adopting older kids in the US.
i believe in self help first then you can help others, so i think you should not adopt outside of your home country or where you are living. there are plenty of children here who need help, but if God calls you to adopt elsewhere, than you gotta listen to God.
I mean we can't say that one country has it worst than another, third war or not, but a child without a home is a child without a home. The thing that might push someone to adopt outside America is that it's so hard to adopt in America, and the process is so long. My point is it doesn't matter what country, just to adopt a child is good!
Personally, I don't want kids at all, but if I did, I would def. be open to adoption anywhere.
Also ...I think I would adopt outside America....because I feel there are third world countries were the kids are in more need of help...like you said there are place with sex slavery going on...In parts of Africa you have the blood diamond problem.....Also in Haiti you have the earthquake and poverty...So outside definitely. :)
This is how I feel about it. There are too many babies already in the United States that need a loving home. I don't see the point in going all the way to Africa to adopt a child. Granted adoption is a beautiful thing to do no matter where the child is from, BUT there are kids here that need love to. And to go ALL THE WAY to another country to get a child to adopt says what the about the kids here in the US? There not good enough? You don't want them? They don't deserve love, too? Thats my issue
the thing is we need to take care of home first. american children need need love and assitance just as much as foreign children. i plan on adopting 2 or 3 when i get married. im gonna take care of home first then consider outside. we tend to neglect home and go help others while home is falling apart. HOME FIRST, THE NEIGHBORHOOD SECOND!!!
Because the kids with no families or whatever have like no living standards.
where here, the kids can be put in a shelter or whatever and they can eat good, have clothes and baths. Who know what the kids in the other countries have.
and btw south africa is the richest of AFRICA period so if she went to northern part then i would understand. SouTH Africa looks exactly like over here. do not be fooled. do research before you fall for the scheme. yes they are poorer than us but they are not huts and brick houses falling apart
they go outside the country because it tend to be sooo much easier....trust me my mother went through the whole process of adoption. so that is why they go to another country. when you actually go you will see its hard to adopt in AMERICA even though we need it
i would adopt outside of where i am because they are worst off in different countries i mean both sides are struggling but in some cases who needs the help more really
i plan on adopting anyway so however many i can shelter and bring into my family is fine with me
Things are bad for some kids but things are alot worst for others, and imagine how many people dont adopt from other countries! i always thought it was wrong for celebrities to adopt but some people can make it over here in that country there is no making it that is it. there is no way of breaking out of that situation, no jobs no family no money absolutly nothing, and in thoes countries things will never change for them thats the best its gona get!
Both Trina & Tbozz 4rm tlc wanna adopt 4m haiti! But It doesn't matter where they adopt, as long as its coming 4rm their heart & they're gonna give them a good chance at life. I understand y the celebrities tend 2 adopt outside the U.S b/c the children n those 3rd wrld countries like haiti R @ a higher risk 2 parish due 2 the absence of the most basic necessities like clean water & food. 3rd world children sometimes eat DIRT cookies 2 try & satisfy their eminence hunger. Thats how bad it gets :(
I don't think it really matter 'where' the child is from, lets not forget that we are ALL citizens of planet Earth, & its not general public/day to day folks that decided to split up Earth into all these different borders/countries. The day we get over these superficial/imposed nationalities & wake & smell the coffee. Regardless of where a child comes from, we are ALL one big family. The less we fall for all the nonsense on TV & in these (fictional) history books the better off we'll be :-)
If I were to adopt I'd probably opt to adopt a child from my home country. I would not completely exclude adoption from another country but I'd try in my home country first.
I hope the people that are in the position to adopt do it because it is in their heart to do so not just for publicity. Where to adopt from is a matter of personal preference. I dont feel right judging others in their decision. There are children that need help in the US as well as other countries. I pray for them all.
well i personally would adopt a child here in america only because there are many children in our own country that have no place to go and that need love as well. It's a shame that we are one of the richest countries and we can't seem to do anything about the homeless rate. So i would defiantly adopt a child in america and if these celebrities want to adopt in other countries i say let them i mean in a way they are making a difference in someone's life.
You make a good point. But just because there is a high homeless rate, doesnt mean it has to stay that way.We have a high homeless rate because people feel it is somebody else's job or that some people deserve to be homeless. NO, if you see something wrong, fix it. What's wrong with giving a homeless person some food or just one night of sleep in your house?I tell you what's wrong, we judge too much. We think he/she will steal or we won't invite them because they are strangers.Change is needed.
There are kids in families in the UK and US living in terrible poverty they seem to be ignored so I would adopt at home first but still make donations to the causes overseas, if you adopt a child from another country how do they cope with the language/ cultural differences....?
I think people choose to adopt from abroad because a lot of the these kids are more at risk than children in developed countries like US and UK. These children are in third world countries and can die from things like not having clean water. Help those at home but we are a global community. Love from the UK x
I think that while its the heart felt thing to do, if you had no intentions of adopting a child in the first place, why do it now? And while our country has the means to take care of foster children doesnt mean we should forget about them. Employed people may have extra change in their pocket to donate to the homeless man on the street corner, but do they do it? Maybe, maybe not? Should they be ignored too? I guess its all in how you choose to help others.
Plus Angelina Jolie was a hot mess before she adopted her son he actually calmed her down because she was walking around with blood in a charm necklace around her neck bragging at award shows she just had sex with Billy Bob Thornton in the limo, kissing her brother in the mouth and less not talk about Kendra from the Girls Next Door or Kourtney Kardashian so go ahead Trina I think you'll be just as good if not better mother then them.
Josephine Baker who was a great singer and known for her exotic dancing on stage adopted 12 multi-ethnic orphans she called the Rainbow Tribe. Makael I knew you were going to oppose against changing stage presence to be a mother because in my eyes Beyonce is 2010 version of Josephine Baker. No one thought Nicole Richie would be a good mother since her vocabulary only consisted of Thats Hot and Bitches. So if Trina wants to adopt more power to her.
UK here. I would adopt from the uk or jamaica or africa my family being jamaican and culturally racially etc the child would still be surrounded by their culture. I have many African friends who are like sisters to me so it goes without say. I dont blame Oprah. She supports plenty of stuff in America - her money her chose of charity .... The Jolie-pitt kids all learn their native languages so I cant hate on her for what she do.
its funny how kevin is getting more and more irritated by those kids as he does more vids lmao.. i am predicting that one day he is just gnna snap and go kung foo pow on them kids .. his frustration is building
the adoptive system here is much better than a third world country. Atleast we have clean water&food here to provide to the kids that are orphans..opposed to children outta the states,so im all for people adoptin outta da country because of all the bare necessities that they dont have....
well im from another country and i would want to adopt from another country and America (girls only) because girls are going through alot of emotional baggage, and i would know because im a female
Well my Aunt adopted 4 children 2 from america 2 from japan and and she said the american adoption was more difficult than the out of country adoption and it was finnacially better for her because the american adoption process is really expensive
Oh to answer your question, NO I will not. I will try to help the ones here first if I do adopt ever adopt. Y'all talked about my two FAVORITE people ever today! Trina and Angie!
And Makael Angelina's kids are from Cambodia, Vietnam, and Ethopia
But i do think the kids here have it better then in another country's. I agree with Oprah 110%!! I think its great that other people adopt kids from others countries.
my teachers daughter was adopted at china she said the reason why she adopted from there is because is because it is cheaper and it is way more easier to adopt. In america it is hard to adopt a child it can take years to have custody of a child
I think Trina should adopt if she wants to. If she want to give another person a BETTER life, LET HER! Some of them kids lost BOTH of their parents and she probably just want to help. I actually met Trina on several occasion and she is TOTAL opposite of what she is on stage! If that was the case MADONNA should NOT be aloud to adopt. Look at the shit she does on stage!
At one time I wanted to adopt in America and they told me because I was a "single person" they would deny me. So maybe it's because America is harder to adopt.
@AshliMonroeTV, so have you tried looking abroad and at agencies/orphanages outside of the US? It would be such a wonderful thing and a blessing to a child if you did.
No, I haven't I decided that I would wait til I was married and we'd have some kids. At that point I had no love interest and no potential love interest. I just thought that would help answer the question.Cause there are lots of single people who'd like to adopt American children but these agencies make it hard. That's part of why they are still orphans.
Adopting a child in America is much harder than adopting a child from a different country. If you're a celebrity, it may be easy but regular people have a harder time. There is usually a waiting list and the waiting time could be anything from 6 months to 20 years. With international adoptions you are almost always able to adopt your kid in 2 years or less. That's why many Americans choose international adoption over US adoption.

some ppl adopt internationally because it is easier, cheaper, and less time consuming than it is in America. I have only heard about that I do not know about it first or second hand. I think people should adopt more state side versus international.
MAJazzy08 10 months ago
the wonder is how easy it is for these ppl to be approved for adoption. it used to be a very prestige sort of process to determine proper parents for kids and now there are ppl like jolie who is a proven home-wrecker, unmarried with a questionable mental state (looking back on how she used to wear her mans blood on a necklace in a vile around her neck). who deemed her fit for parenthood? to multiple kids no less
LADiiEb69 11 months ago
everyone's inentions may not be good but whatever the intention for the adoption may be, if they go through with it thats the blessing. if you end up with a blessing all else is irrelevant really.

I am loving it!
cpadill5 1 year ago
Theskorpionshow, ask yourself this, just imagine if two of your nieces or nephews were placed in different countries, one in Africa and one in the U.S.A. and you had the choice of only one getting the opportunity for adoption that would provide full American rights, which one would you choose to be adopted out and why? One of them would have to land up staying in the orphanage or in the U.S foster care system.
cpadill5 1 year ago

DCan1245 1 year ago
@DCan1245 in general wouldnt it be nice if a large portion of the state budget went towards things like that? Foster care and such, a better state system for in-transition kids? Theres alot that can be done in that area dont you agree?

im not reallly sure because there are ppl here in america that need us but then again haiti reely needs us caus they pretty much hav nothing now so if i were an adult i probably would adopt a child from haiti just to giv them a home a warm bed and stuff they dont have now

i also want to add, that my husband and i not only talk about adopting, but that we would adopt a school age child (because statistically the only children that are adopted are under the age of 2).

I plan to adopt one day and when I do I will be adopting one that's from the u.s. even though I know it's more expensive I think the easiest way and the cheapest is to become a foster parent and then adopt that child my dad & step mom started off as foster parents and then they adopted her and it worked for them and I plan on taking care of " Home " first before I go else where
TIFFANYBUTTERFLY 2 years ago
international adaption is cheaper than american adaption---less rules and its also quicker.
American adaption is expensive---depending what race you want(because blacks are cheap, and mixes even cheaper) you could pay 20k for a white kid ans 10k for a black one....pretty f-ed up uh?
I would probably adapt a black american or go abroad.

As far as Trina wanting to adopt a child from Haiti.. i guess people really don't think about helping until its actually brought to there attention; I agree with Kevin on this topic... my mother is adopted and i just think its wonderful that someone is willing to undertake such a great responsibility. one thing i wish people would really consider tho is to adopt not a baby but an older child. a lot of people want a baby cause its just easier than to rauise an older child who has likely experienced a lot more hardship but those older kids and teens need good homes and love too. maybe that could be a follow up vid, whether to adopt a baby or an older child?
ctswright 2 years ago
i guess its okay, i mean a lot of third world kids need a lot of help, but i would rather adopt a kid in america, cause lord knows there are needy kids here too. i mean we have more money here, but foster care is no picnic and orphans and kids who live in broken homes in america face a lot of hardship as well. so i dont know; both sides have some valid points but personally i would adopt and american child and take them out of a bad situation.

Why not come together and help each other and make it a better place!
kshel104 2 years ago
I believe Oprah donates to those young girls because let's face it African Americans in America don't appreciate anything. You give a book to a child and they want something expensive. You give a child in Africa a book and they appreciate it.
And why all of a sudden people want to adopt children from Haiti? The plight of Haiti is now in the limelight. Haiti has been impoverished since they gained independence from the French. Now people recognize the country and want to have a heart??

BeYAWNsay 2 years ago

I have no problem with adopting children from another country or another race. But I do have an issue with celebrities adopting these children to get publicity. cincat09 2 years ago

DaWiiNeFiiNeDiiMe 2 years ago 2
In places like Russia, France, etc. the kids are more likely to be used as prostitutes and get lost in the system.. true. I cant see trina as a mother, sorry.. im trying but maybe if she get her own child and carry it for 9months.. her bonding with the child and wanting one, ill take her more serious. and Oprah response on only taking care of african young girls.. i understand to some extent, because in africa if u are a woman men feel superior over u in several different ways.
DaWiiNeFiiNeDiiMe 2 years ago
It cost just as much to adopt a kid overseas as it does in america, but overseas they give up the child easier because they dont do the background check like they do in america, but yet kids in america who grow up in adoption agencies who've been in home to home talks about how they still get sexual abused and mistreated which is sad.
DaWiiNeFiiNeDiiMe 2 years ago
I think it would of been valuable to discuss what you have to do to adopt a child in America. There are a lot of couples that go through so much red tape to adopt a child and there's the financial element. Adopting is expensive. It's not that people don't want to adopt within their own country, it's just that they have to go through so much to do so. Most times it's easier to adopt from another country than it is to adopt in your own.
enchantresslyssa 2 years ago
Loved this topic, yall should do a part two of it and have a special guest. I can see where Kevin is coming from when he questions why people adopt children from other countries but not ones from here. As far as Trina, I think that what she does on stage may be a reflection of who she is as a person because when you are a music artist the music that you produce is a creative expression of who you are, so personally if I worked at an adoption agency and I heard her music I wouldn't let her adopt.

It's never to late to wake up and help somebody.
kamilaworldwide 2 years ago

SheBQueen4eva 2 years ago
@SheBQueen4eva i truly agree w/ u
domcartel 2 years ago
Domcartel isn't that the truth, lol....but to shamika I wasn't saying that non blacks shouldn't adopt black kids....I just wish when they do adopt our black babies they learn how to care for them. Unfortunately in our system even when blacks try to adopt it's especially hard for them cause this system is set up against the blacks adopting from my experience. Besides we don't know what's going on in the homes of the adopters, we can only hope for the best.

trina is like that all the time though. beyonce is sasha on stage n she really is a different person in real life than what she is on the stage and videos.

its cheaper and faster process to get a child from outside the country than in america
bufu256 2 years ago
i agree with the other people commenting. yes our government has soo many programs and things here for poor people. welfare shelters food stamps medicad and things like that. we have fincial aid that pays for kids to go to college. i think americans should adopt outside the country or where they can possible. god bless the for adopting at all.
BrooklynLady26 2 years ago
The important thing is to adopt a child regardless or race, country or origin etc. A child is a child and havign said that, if they are withouth parents or a home, then if someone from another country feels the need to adopt them and do so legally and under the right terms, then I dont think someone should be judged for that.
--------------------------------------
However, you made a valid point, there are many many many many many kids here that needs a home, family, parents etc.
tedjay 2 years ago
OPRAH DONATED 10 Million Dollars to Morehouse College in ATL. Morehouse is a leading institution in America that educated men and particularly black men.
-------------------------------------------------------
American kids may have some sort of money to sustain them untill they are 18 (clothing, food, school fee etc) where's countries in African, Caribbean, Asia etc, may not have the same funds towards orphaned children. Some are living on less that $10 a YR in filth! You can make it in USA.
tedjay 2 years ago
Many people adopt overseas because the process may be shorter aswell as the cost being less.
Lickm389 2 years ago 3
@Lickm389 international adoption is catastrophically expensive and the process can take up to 9 years.
yulyu 10 months ago
You should adopt kids from whatever background. All children need homes.
Oprah makes a valid point in the way that, American orphans go through much less than that of a developing country's orphanage. They're not fiscally supported in any way. American orphans get free medical care, free clothes, and etc. Those girls Oprah helps get nothing. And in other orphanages, girls in particular, are often mistreated and abused.
murdocxjames 2 years ago 2
Opray gives money to everybody. Africa needs schools and any other asistance they can get. We do live in the richest country in the world. Education is free here and millions of kids drop out and don't take advantage of it. Oprah is very generous. And, I feel that people can adopt anywhere they want too. It doesn't matter where they come from, they're children that need love and care.

One more thing. I see that people are saying, ADOPT here in the States. I bet you majority of them haven't PRACTICED WHAT THEY PREACH and have fostered or adopted a child here.
KeepinItRealShow 2 years ago
I THINK its ok to adopt a child out of America because america is very financial in taking care of children in orphanages they have food every day and are clothed relatively well.
i think people hate that 'STARS" adopt children from other countries and stuff because their is poverty here in america and the stars are failing to see how bad it is they look over it i guess cause they have it so good
liahbeah1314 2 years ago
Being a single adoptive/foster parent of 6 is no joke. All of my kids are of different races. You wouldn't believe how people from my own race have constantly asked why don't I just adopt "Black" kids. My response, the kids don't care who adopts or fosters them, they just want to be loved. Thank you for posting this video. You just barely touched this sensitive topic. Hope there's more to come. Keep up the good work!!!!
KeepinItRealShow 2 years ago
Kevin & Makael...I totally agree with you both. I believe that you should take care of ya home first, then go outside. Um, people are worried about the US children are homeless or what not...but still & yet they are forgetting about them and helping other children.
iRepASavior 2 years ago
i love what angelina & brad are doing. why? when you bring people of different backgrounds together, it makes you appreciate someone's culture more. you create friendships and loving ties between races & cultures. there is less racism & more open-mindedness. when you put little kids of different backgrounds together, they don't discriminate cause of where someone is from or how they look. they all play together. when we do more of this, we are creating better generations.

generally it takes a long time to adopt in america. it is much easier to adopt out of the country. I truly think outside of country is better. THey will be grateful if theyre adopted. in america they wont they will try and search for their family. people in other countries dont have the money to support foster kids. america does.
mandjandc 2 years ago
I thank you guys for discussing this important topic. I donate money to an orphanage in Atlanta whenever I can, and it makes me feel so good every time I send them something because the kids there are so precious. It breaks my heart to see kids without a family or parent.
chevychase 2 years ago
I do wish people would think of adopting in America first. I know it is much easier to get a BABY to adopt if you go outside the US and many people want a baby. But older kids need homes so badly and I pray more people will consider adopting older kids in the US.
chevychase 2 years ago
i believe in self help first then you can help others, so i think you should not adopt outside of your home country or where you are living. there are plenty of children here who need help, but if God calls you to adopt elsewhere, than you gotta listen to God.
BigTashia 2 years ago
I mean we can't say that one country has it worst than another, third war or not, but a child without a home is a child without a home. The thing that might push someone to adopt outside America is that it's so hard to adopt in America, and the process is so long. My point is it doesn't matter what country, just to adopt a child is good!
Personally, I don't want kids at all, but if I did, I would def. be open to adoption anywhere.
mariahcareynum1fan 2 years ago
Also ...I think I would adopt outside America....because I feel there are third world countries were the kids are in more need of help...like you said there are place with sex slavery going on...In parts of Africa you have the blood diamond problem.....Also in Haiti you have the earthquake and poverty...So outside definitely. :)

It rare that people adopt children...Most often they adopt babies..The younger the better and that's were the true problem lies!!!
eggy0708 2 years ago
This is how I feel about it. There are too many babies already in the United States that need a loving home. I don't see the point in going all the way to Africa to adopt a child. Granted adoption is a beautiful thing to do no matter where the child is from, BUT there are kids here that need love to. And to go ALL THE WAY to another country to get a child to adopt says what the about the kids here in the US? There not good enough? You don't want them? They don't deserve love, too? Thats my issue
LittleMs215 2 years ago 3
the thing is we need to take care of home first. american children need need love and assitance just as much as foreign children. i plan on adopting 2 or 3 when i get married. im gonna take care of home first then consider outside. we tend to neglect home and go help others while home is falling apart. HOME FIRST, THE NEIGHBORHOOD SECOND!!!

I would adopt outside of the country.

SouTH Africa looks exactly like over here. do not be fooled. do research before you fall for the scheme. yes they are poorer than us but they are not huts and brick houses falling apart
shugga24 2 years ago
they go outside the country because it tend to be sooo much easier....trust me my mother went through the whole process of adoption. so that is why they go to another country. when you actually go you will see its hard to adopt in AMERICA even though we need it
shugga24 2 years ago
i would adopt outside of where i am because they are worst off in different countries i mean both sides are struggling but in some cases who needs the help more really
i plan on adopting anyway so however many i can shelter and bring into my family is fine with me

Thats how bad it gets :(
BriDayAlldAy 2 years ago 4
I don't think it really matter 'where' the child is from, lets not forget that we are ALL citizens of planet Earth, & its not general public/day to day folks that decided to split up Earth into all these different borders/countries. The day we get over these superficial/imposed nationalities & wake & smell the coffee. Regardless of where a child comes from, we are ALL one big family. The less we fall for all the nonsense on TV & in these (fictional) history books the better off we'll be :-)
MrWarsameAli 2 years ago 4
If I were to adopt I'd probably opt to adopt a child from my home country. I would not completely exclude adoption from another country but I'd try in my home country first.
Veraclarke1 2 years ago
I hope the people that are in the position to adopt do it because it is in their heart to do so not just for publicity. Where to adopt from is a matter of personal preference. I dont feel right judging others in their decision. There are children that need help in the US as well as other countries. I pray for them all.
monimom3 2 years ago
well i personally would adopt a child here in america only because there are many children in our own country that have no place to go and that need love as well. It's a shame that we are one of the richest countries and we can't seem to do anything about the homeless rate. So i would defiantly adopt a child in america and if these celebrities want to adopt in other countries i say let them i mean in a way they are making a difference in someone's life.
reesemoney 2 years ago
You make a good point. But just because there is a high homeless rate, doesnt mean it has to stay that way.We have a high homeless rate because people feel it is somebody else's job or that some people deserve to be homeless. NO, if you see something wrong, fix it. What's wrong with giving a homeless person some food or just one night of sleep in your house?I tell you what's wrong, we judge too much. We think he/she will steal or we won't invite them because they are strangers.Change is needed.

Shadyreporter 2 years ago
I think people choose to adopt from abroad because a lot of the these kids are more at risk than children in developed countries like US and UK. These children are in third world countries and can die from things like not having clean water. Help those at home but we are a global community. Love from the UK x
samiara1000 2 years ago 2

The Jolie-pitt kids all learn their native languages so I cant hate on her for what she do.

my teachers daughter was adopted at china she said the reason why she adopted from there is because is because it is cheaper and it is way more easier to adopt.

MsIcecream2005 2 years ago
At one time I wanted to adopt in America and they told me because I was a "single person" they would deny me. So maybe it's because America is harder to adopt.
AshliMonroeTV 2 years ago
@AshliMonroeTV, so have you tried looking abroad and at agencies/orphanages outside of the US? It would be such a wonderful thing and a blessing to a child if you did.
SuniDays87 2 years ago
No, I haven't I decided that I would wait til I was married and we'd have some kids. At that point I had no love interest and no potential love interest. I just thought that would help answer the question.Cause there are lots of single people who'd like to adopt American children but these agencies make it hard. That's part of why they are still orphans.
AshliMonroeTV 2 years ago
Adopting a child in America is much harder than adopting a child from a different country. If you're a celebrity, it may be easy but regular people have a harder time. There is usually a waiting list and the waiting time could be anything from 6 months to 20 years. With international adoptions you are almost always able to adopt your kid in 2 years or less. That's why many Americans choose international adoption over US adoption.
